"The Towering Inferno 1974: Warner Bros./20th Century-Fox Directed by John Guillermin. Screenplay by Stirling Silliphant; based on the novels The Tower by Richard Martin Stern, and The Glass Inferno by Thomas N. Scortia & Frank M. Robinson. One of the biggest films of the 1970s, The Towering Inferno was one of the first blockbuster, high-budget, all-star cast, "event" films. It was so big that it had to have two directors! (Guillermin credited by also Irwin Allen). Besides grossing a lot of money at the box office, it also was popular at the Academy Awards, winning for Editing, Cinematography and Best Song. It was also nominated for many others including Best Picture (yes, really look it up)." Taken from this site: come on, one more click for good luck! wink. I doubt it was based on the movie since Towering Inferno the 2600 game was made by US Games and the movie was a 20th Century Fox release. 20CF could have easily put it out themselves. You tell me though. Take care, any more? Let me at em. [ 03-09-2002: Message edited by: Monster greifen an ] [ 03-09-2002: Message edited by: Monster greifen an ]

Not all 20th Century Fox games. What about Beany Bopper and Deadly Duck, those weren't movies. I thought the same thing until I double checked the Atariage archive. That's when I realized half of 20th Century Fox's games weren't from movies. Whats up with this?

A brief synopsis for those fans of 60's horror classics. "The Earth Dies Screaming 1964 A bunch of people sit around a pub talking about the end of the world, whilst outside, the rest of the Earth's population appear to have dropped down dead. And talk they do… on and on and on… If you don't think this sounds much like a horror film, you're absolutely right. In fact The Earth Dies Screaming has very few plus points, apart from its rather terrific (and misleading) title. No-one in the film dies screaming, I'm afraid. Anyone who is seen to be killed is usually a zombie, and their reaction to a bullet hole is a kind of stiff upper lipped "Oh, I appear to have been shot. Cripes, what bad luck. Oh well…" than a blood curdling "Aaaiiiieeeee!" Still, you can't have everything, and this is a black and white British horror movie, after all. Anyway, back to the plus points. The first five minutes are awesome, as people all over the Home Counties succumb to the evil death plague from space. Oily mechanics collapse at the helm of steam trains, cars career off the road, bowler hatted types fall over on train station platforms… it's great. Then our hero arrives in his Land Rover, and it all rather goes downhill from there. Turns out the population have been wiped out by a gas attack from a bunch of slow moving alien robots, who proceed to move slowly around the village our hero and a group of other survivors find themselves in. For reasons best know to their slow witted selves, the robots only attack occasionally, completely letting off the hook an annoying pregnant girl who spends at least three hours standing at a window in full view of them. These robots are impervious to bullets, but sadly not to Land Rovers. They also look like they're made out of odds and ends found around the kitchens of Shepperton Studios. This film was obviously a big influence on Doctor Who - the alien robots pre date the Cybermen (although they're not as realistic) and the deserted village scenario pre dates about a hundred other episodes of the long-running programme. Don't ever let a Who fan tell you their beloved series is original again! But possibly the best thing about the whole farrago is its length - just 60 minutes short. The zombified villagers are a bit spooky as well, I suppose. " Taken from this web site click me, you sexy thing Your welcome

-
That's crazy high score. My new high score as of last night is 6310. Good lord that was fast!
-
I'm totally down with that idea. It would have come in handy during the contest though. But I still would love to mess around with it. Don't let your dreams die, carry on!

Supercharger!!!!! I thought someone was looking for one the other day. HMMMMM!

I just picked up some cheap car spray WD-40 type stuff from the local Walmart. I paid like 89 cents for a huge can of it. I just opened the controller sprayed quite a bit of by accident into the center round part let it dry up a bit closed it up and took off the top round paddle part and sprayed some on it too, just to be sure (then I wrote the longest sentence in history) and closed it up and wiggled it back and forth. Rverything worked perfectly. I was amazed I thought I read that someone did this in the latest issue of 2600 connection last page. check it out.

I hope you got my order too. I need one of those Adventure II carts. I will re-email you right now!

Heck yeah, no mouse will ever compare to the handheld wonder commonly refered to as the Atari joystick. I actually had a harder time playing it withthe mouse. I would definitely look into getting some paddle controllers, not the diving ones, but the tennis ones. so I guess I reign supreme with the highest score on these boards in Kaboom! any challengers?

I'm up for one of those. Someone should give it a try to make a homebrew mindlink game! Something like "Poltergeist" would be an interesting game. Scare the family by using the mindlink to move objects around a house or something. Or "Pyswar" Battle of the Minds.

Tic Tac Blows, is more like it! one more for me!
-
yeah I haven't been able to repeat it either. It sucks. I guess since I wasn't really into the game and didn't care what happened I got a super high score, I wasn't even paying attention just testing the controller. I tried for like three hours after to get that score again, hell no!

You should post a pic of some of your work. They sound great. And good luck with that High School thing. I hated High Scool with a passion and in fact managed to skip two months worth of it my senior year. I got caught and the school didn't do anything because I had such a high grade point average. Weird huh? To this day, I have no idea what the logic was behind that. That was two months people. Regardless, I'm not complaining. I just graduated from college like three days ago, I took my last final (correspondance course) obviously it wasn't in English grammer or spelling, as is obvious by this post. But I am now an officially degree ridden graphic design with three degrees from major universities. Feels weird to be free of that nightmare. I made my graduation announcements utilizing as much Atari as I could. They kick butt. But good luck with those dust covers. I might try to make one tonight, if I can find some thread and needles and junk. I still have some black vinyl from when I recovered a chair. It should work just fine. Rock on!

Holy shmoly Kaboomsters! I was cleaning my paddle controllers out last night, you know greasing them up so there would be less jitter. IWhen I decided to test it out on Kaboom! I suck at this game but I knew I would be able to see the jitter in serious action on the screen. Usually that's the problem I have with this game, it shakes so much I can't play it. So I decided to test it out. Lo and behold I rack up 4578 points! That's pretty fast for a bomb dropping criminal sliding back and forth on a ledge! I couldn't believe it. I have never scored such a high rank in this game. I'm completely in love with Kaboom! now. It rocks hard core. BOOYEAH! [ 03-07-2002: Message edited by: Monster greifen an ]

So who got the bomber..er I mean the dustcovers? I'm thinking the patterns should be posted somewhere, I would sure enjoy making my own. Sort of like in Mystery Men when they are forced to make their own costumes so they will respect themselves more. You know that old had. danke
-
whatever became of these dust covers anyway?
-
I'm still down with the pac, but your right it already is a Namco thing. So why not make it just a randomly badly drawn dude from tennis or bezerk or something?
-
I need a bunch too, count me in. whooooooooo hoooooooo

It's pretty wacky, but mostly I'm leaving this message to be included in the longest thread in history. Regard the most annoying game ever made. Good lord the game is very similar to it;s final destination. ET falls into a hole searching for broken junk just like everyone here seems to be doing. Looking for broken junk in a hole to use later. Too bad we couldn't find a trail of reeces peices to lead us there. That would be entertaining.

of course, the alcohol I injest is normally 80% and doesn't appear to evaporate from my stomach very fast. Something about electronics having fast metabolism, they reject fat cells. I started using light alcohol on my games just to be sure.
-
I use 70% and don't dry it off, Alcohol dries pretty fast anyway. I don't really see what the difference is. Water on the other hand takes something like half an hour to evaporate in normal conditions, while that alcohol, 70%, will evaporate in something like two minutes. Supposing you spilled a pile of it. You could also just blow on it and it will evaporate fast. It's just my opinion. I have always used 70% to clean off electronics and have had no problems.
