  1. I just picked up some cheap car spray WD-40 type stuff from the local Walmart. I paid like 89 cents for a huge can of it. I just opened the controller sprayed quite a bit of by accident into the center round part let it dry up a bit closed it up and took off the top round paddle part and sprayed some on it too, just to be sure (then I wrote the longest sentence in history) and closed it up and wiggled it back and forth. Rverything worked perfectly. I was amazed I thought I read that someone did this in the latest issue of 2600 connection last page. check it out.

  2. Heck yeah, no mouse will ever compare to the handheld wonder commonly refered to as the Atari joystick. I actually had a harder time playing it withthe mouse. I would definitely look into getting some paddle controllers, not the diving ones, but the tennis ones.

so I guess I reign supreme with the highest score on these boards in Kaboom! any challengers?

  3. I'm up for one of those. Someone should give it a try to make a homebrew mindlink game! Something like "Poltergeist" would be an interesting game. Scare the family by using the mindlink to move objects around a house or something. Or "Pyswar" Battle of the Minds.

  4. yeah I haven't been able to repeat it either. It sucks. I guess since I wasn't really into the game and didn't care what happened I got a super high score, I wasn't even paying attention just testing the controller. I tried for like three hours after to get that score again, hell no!

  5. You should post a pic of some of your work. They sound great. And good luck with that High School thing. I hated High Scool with a passion and in fact managed to skip two months worth of it my senior year. I got caught and the school didn't do anything because I had such a high grade point average. Weird huh? To this day, I have no idea what the logic was behind that. That was two months people. Regardless, I'm not complaining. I just graduated from college like three days ago, I took my last final (correspondance course) obviously it wasn't in English grammer or spelling, as is obvious by this post. But I am now an officially degree ridden graphic design with three degrees from major universities. Feels weird to be free of that nightmare. I made my graduation announcements utilizing as much Atari as I could. They kick butt. But good luck with those dust covers. I might try to make one tonight, if I can find some thread and needles and junk. I still have some black vinyl from when I recovered a chair. It should work just fine. Rock on!

  6. Holy shmoly Kaboomsters! I was cleaning my paddle controllers out last night, you know greasing them up so there would be less jitter. IWhen I decided to test it out on Kaboom! I suck at this game but I knew I would be able to see the jitter in serious action on the screen. Usually that's the problem I have with this game, it shakes so much I can't play it. So I decided to test it out. Lo and behold I rack up 4578 points! That's pretty fast for a bomb dropping criminal sliding back and forth on a ledge! I couldn't believe it. I have never scored such a high rank in this game. I'm completely in love with Kaboom! now. It rocks hard core. BOOYEAH!

  7. So who got the bomber..er I mean the dustcovers? I'm thinking the patterns should be posted somewhere, I would sure enjoy making my own. Sort of like in Mystery Men when they are forced to make their own costumes so they will respect themselves more. You know that old had.

    danke

  8. It's pretty wacky, but mostly I'm leaving this message to be included in the longest thread in history. Regard the most annoying game ever made. Good lord the game is very similar to it;s final destination. ET falls into a hole searching for broken junk just like everyone here seems to be doing. Looking for broken junk in a hole to use later. Too bad we couldn't find a trail of reeces peices to lead us there. That would be entertaining.

  9. of course, the alcohol I injest is normally 80% and doesn't appear to evaporate from my stomach very fast. Something about electronics having fast metabolism, they reject fat cells. I started using light alcohol on my games just to be sure.

  10. I use 70% and don't dry it off, Alcohol dries pretty fast anyway. I don't really see what the difference is. Water on the other hand takes something like half an hour to evaporate in normal conditions, while that alcohol, 70%, will evaporate in something like two minutes. Supposing you spilled a pile of it. You could also just blow on it and it will evaporate fast. It's just my opinion. I have always used 70% to clean off electronics and have had no problems.

  11. I guess were never to know how these PAL games made it too the USA but one things for sure I'm getting me a TV with a Verticle hold switch on it. And woodgrain at that, to match the Atari.

  12. I don't want to interupt too much but what does BTW stand for? Everyone keeps using it in these forums and I'm really confused, at first I thought it was German because jahfish wrote it and that's when I first noticed it. But now everyone is using it. Does it mean "by the way?" I don't know. Thanks and sorry for interupting the flow of conversation. carry on

  13. I agree that some parts of the country have all the luck. I think fads take place in certain areas better than others and let me tell you Arkansas is one of the slowest places on earth to catch on to cool things. Good thing for me I live in a college town where people come to pawn off their junk for cheap living but I still have a hard time finding stuff here. I even wen all the way to Kansas City and looked in a bunch of game stores and nothing. Although I did find an original Atari joystick there for a buck. I bought it since up to that point I was using a Sega Genesis controller. I needed the original feel. Since then I have found a slew of original controllers, more than I know what to do with. Thank goodness for the Genesis though or I would have been screwed out of playing for a long time.

  14. This is completely insane. I just got back from the game store with a copy of RS Tennis. Normally I don't buy sports games but I really wanted to buy Atari stuff today. So I popped in my game and got the same effect. Silver label, rolling screen RS Tennis on the end label but when I checked the cart scan here at Atariage I found out it says RS Tennis on the front too. Mine only says TENNIS in all caps on the front. No other marks make this a noticable PAL cart. The bottom reads (1988 ATARI CORP. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED 2680) What gives, I actually thought the game might be broken for a minute. Quite the coincidence.

  15. Looks mighty suspicious to me too. That is such an odd color of black like the toner on his printer wasn't good enough to print true black. But it could be the scan as well. I also agree with the fact that the corners look suspicious, like they were hand cut withan xacto knife. I know how hard it is do this it always comes out a bit straight edged. Also he seems mighty certain the game will go up to $50 bucks when he "doesn't know what he has." Sounds strange to me. I would avoid this. I could do a better job of ripping someone off. Maybe I should try it, and not actually finalize the deal, just to see if I could do it. Maybe I could have a contest to see if someone on atariage could spot it. HMMMMMM! Of course I wouldn't let it get out into the public hands and rip someone off. That would suck and I wouldn't want someone doing that to me. hmmm, anyway. This looks fishy.

  16. Yeah I have a defo frogger and a pitfall that when you press jump locks you in the air letting you glide across all the screens until time runs out or you get really bored. I can still get those TI games for anyone, if they want them (hehehe) (yeah I'm probably running the TI thing into the ground but I thought the system was an amazing find, for me anyway)
