  1. you could also check with an ohmmeter on a lynx game to find the 2 pins connected together.
  2. the cart pinout is not so hard to find : here's some I found 1 GND 2 D3 3 D2 4 D4 5 D1 6 D5 7 D0 8 D6 9 D7 10 CARD/ (this is OE/) 11 A1 12 A2 13 A3 14 A6 15 A4 16 A5 17 A0 18 A7 19 A16 20 A17 21 A18 22 A19 23 A15 24 A14 25 A13 26 A12 27 SWCON/ (this is WE/) 28 A8 29 A9 30 A10 31 Vcc 32 AUDIOIN (I/O pin but not analog, digital, for 1MBcards used) 33 Vcc 34 SWVCC Note: A12..A19 is connected to a 74HC164 to select block A0...A10 is connected to a 4040 to select postion A11 is __missing__ CARD/ is strobed on reads SWCON/ is strobed on writes The lower 11 bits of the cart address space come from a counter. There are 3 different games out in the Lynx-market. Most old games use only 9 bits of this counter (512 bytes/block). All the new games use 10 bits (1024 bytes/block) and two or three games use all 11 bits (2048 bytes/block). All the other address bits are directly accessible through a 8-bit parallell port.
  3. well with you multimeter set to 20V continuous, you touch a neutral point with the black probe (for example the minus of the power supply) and with the red probe you touch the point you want to test, look the "useless" lynx schematic for a point where there should be 5V.
  4. well I think I used to whack my lynx I, when this happened :-) If you open the shell it'll probably help in removing the batteries.
  5. it's normal that the lynx powers up as soon as you insert the last battery since you jumped q12, it's a trick to bypass it. If the lynx displays a picture when on, q12 is dead and the other components seem to be ok, if the screen remains blank, there's probably another chip that is damaged.
  6. There are versions of toki for atari st, amiga and arcade (called JuJu Densetsu in japan). And according to the wikipedia french page : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toki, there's a C64 and Zx spectrum version too.
  7. if the capacitors blew, it could be because they were powered in reverse. I think there's a mosfet that tends to blow, you should search the forums for karri's posts, tripwood. I know he already explained that somewhere.
  8. and the 20Mhz is just overclocking, I think there's a "24Mhz lynx" tutorial somewhere on the internet
  9. You'd better call for a technician's help if you don't understand that.
  10. canada anyway, and someone already gave me batman returns in the late 90s when nobody wanted it.
  11. rather hard, search for the lynx schematics, you'll have clue how the screen works.
  12. I did love my lynx I, I don't remember well but I think the cross was better than on my actual lynx II (short story : A friend burned my Lynx I, I bought a lynx II). The lynx II looks better to me.
  13. why not, you may need to change the plug. Just match the voltage. Power delivered bye the psu must be >= to the power needed by the system.
  14. well maybe with a heat gun karri, at least it works for desoldering.
  15. and here are pics of my own prototype card, but I don't know if it works, I need more work on it (and more free time of course).
  16. it's not so expensive to have some pcb done, about 3$ per board depending on the volume. I'd say it costs less than 10$ to have such a cartridge. Your could use some free hosting web like http://imageshack.us/ just upload the pictures and copy the link it'll give you.
  17. A top 5 from the few games I own 1: Toki 2: Gates of Zendocon 3: Rampart 4: Todd's adventure in slime world 5: Blue lightning I love chip's challenge too, but my brother's got the cartridge.
  18. 8 games, in fact I had forgotten I had a lynx for years, I may start to collect some more now.
  19. just played a bit of xenophobe, the rifle is best because it can be aimed when using the jetpack whereas the laser gun can't. I usually keep the character crouching and shooting, wait before entering a door, until I don't hear any xenos kill sound anymore. To gain some time, when there's no xeno in a room, I make a jump to speed up a bit and then crouch again. For the last level, keep a lot of bombs, kill all the xenos then use the jetpack to fly just above the rolling xenos and shoot the queen down.
  20. There are also grenades in xenophobe, quite useful when there's a lot of aliens waiting for you in the next room. I'd recommand to use the electric rifle, don't remember why I liked it better than the laser gun.
  21. seems like english talking countries use the dot and other counries use the comma : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma_%28punctuation%29. don't you also get in trouble karri when numers are written with comma to separate thousands ?
  22. Just use dot separated data fields or something else. This notation has probably been used for a thousand years in France. Does the dot comes from Great Britain (and was used in the colonies) ?
  23. I used the electric rifle and kept the character on his knees. keep a lot of grenades for the last level since there's A LOT of aliens there. I think I used the jetpack to kill the queen at the end (she keeps throwing aliens on you but they roll under you since you're flying).
  24. it's been a while, I don't really remember, I'd say 21.
