  1. Could people do me a favor and not announce shit like this unless it applies to the US market (sorry, Importing DOESN'T apply)

As for American consumers changing, that has more to do with no american company making a system, and Japanese releasing several, not Americans not supporting American stuff.

When X-Box came out, I bought it, more to support the US, than because I wanted it. Turns out, it was awesome and I made the right choice anyways, as it had many of the best games....but that's beside the point. And MOST people will have an X-Box, especially around here, so it's definately a popular Idea for people to buy a US system.

I imagine that the U.S. announcement of $399 and $499 isn't too far behind.

Ken says the US will get no breaks on the price. :(

  2. Eh, as long as the graphics are good, I don't think there will be a problem. The X-Box and Gamecube were both more powerfull than the PS2, but the PS2 creamed both of them.

It's going to come down to what appeals the most. From what I've seen, people seem to like "different." The DS is different and has games that are branching out to non-gamers. Hell, they even have recipie DS carts coming up to teach people how to cook, I believe!

The "different" factor will be the Wii's biggest attraction.

  3. Whatever chance 360 had left in Japan was killed by this announcement.

What chance did the XBox 360 ever have? Without the games Japanese like, it will never be popular. A company never wants to abandon a market, but MS might be better off writing off the JP market. Who knows they might sell more if it was only available as a quirky import.

I doubt that this deal will come over to NA any time soon though. Maybe when the PS3 has it's first price drop, this will come over here.

Eh, they had some game from the creators of Chrono Trigger that they were banking on.

Anyway, I don't know. Sony has already pissed off so many people due to their arrogance. Even at TGS, people were pretty pissed that they barely showed any good gaming stuff.

I think it's time Sony lost their #1 place in the console market. Let Nintendo or MS have it, though I'm afraid of what could happen if Microsoft got hold of it...

  4. There's a lot of stuff coming up that I want. Namely...

    1. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Minis

    2. Final Fantasy III

    3. Contact

    4. Children of Mana

    5. New Castlevania (came out yesterday)

    6. Cooking Mana (came out a few days ago)

    7. Megaman ZX (also came out a few days ago)

Lots o' goodies coming up. :)

  5. Today I hit a pawn shop and found 2 game genies for 4 bucks a pop. I have a question, though. I didn't buy them, because on the bottom it looked like the pins had green on them or something. I was wondering if this was normal or not.

I did get a boy and his blob for like $4.00, though. Don't know if its rare or not.

  6. When the controller was shown, people complained and cried... Then people got over it.

When people found out it wouldn't be as powerful as the PS3, 360. They cried, and moaned... Then forgot about it.

When people heard the name "Wii."

    YOU GUESSED IT!

They cried and moned... Then forgot about it.

I doubt this will be much different.

  7. Replace that bottom part of the Nintendo Gamecube? You know, the part you take off to put the GBA adapter on.

Before Katrina hit, I packed up all of my games and stuff, but unfortunately left that little part back (and a feck ton of accessories). Since I'm a particular bastard, and I feel like playing my GC again (I'd have to re-buy my connection cables, memory card, and controller) it's irking me to have a missing part.

Do you guys think if I emailed them, they might replace that little part at the bottom?

  8. I liked what I saw overall. Yes, graphically there are things that left me wanting here and there.

Battallion Wars looked mondo busy to the point that I was just getting confused trying to figure out what he was doing other than getting blown away while he tried to circle-strafe.

Red Steel looks competent overall. The constructive thought of some kind of calibration sequence would make sense. This may be a FPS that I can actually play on a console. (A great pet peeve of mine is the noteable lack of KB/mouse support for those of us who want to play FPSes on consoles and came from PC-land -- except for the mighty Dreamcast)

Wii-Sports is probably the most dissapointing graphically, but is also what I view as a technical demo to showcase the controller. Kinda like WarioWare: Touched could be classified as a tech demo for the DS.

There's the Hi-def argument that we've covered repeatedly. Honestly it remains a don't care in my book -- the horse is still dead on that one.

What I really want (as I'm sure some of you do too...)

    - The suggested retail price(s).

    - Launch titles that will actually be here.

    - Pack in game (if any)

    - To play this thing first hand

I suspect that they are using a device like this to do the sensing on the Wii-motes It makes sense really for a couple of reasons. The first being that an older similar part is used in Kirby's Tilt-N-Tumble. (ADXL202) NThat part has been obsoleted and replaced with a part that has better performance, this little monster is pretty slick and they make better ones too. like this 3d unit...

This is good in that it's going to be a fairly rugged unit in that the sensors won't get dirty. I'm sure they take precautions to deal with things like high-G shock and the like too. I wonder if they are going with an X/Y pot for the controller nub or back to the optical system they used on the N64. Only time and a screwdriver will tell. :)

    Hex.

Rumor has it that the Kiosk (sp?) will be in stores in October. So playing it may not be out of the question.
