Super Mario Galaxy, How do you like it so far?
Atari Master replied to Shawn's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
The reason the wii-mote feels right is because when you make the motion to make him spin, it's almost like spinning a top. It just feels "right." -
Yeah, this is a good game. The draught is finally ending, thank God. This game, Galaxy, Fire Emblem, NiGHTS, etc all coming up in the next few months.

You're missing out big time. This game is fantastic. -
I doubt this is the end of Samus, especially with rumors stirring once again about "Metroid Dread." Also, this game is awesome as hell. If you buy anything for the Wii, make sure it's this! Only control trouble I've had is a little with the "pull, turn, and push" motion. It usually works, but sometimes push won't register. The grappling thing works fine though, unless you do something wrong or try to "trick" it.

Metroid is coming soon. 0-0 *rocks back and forth*

I think we can judge the Wii's third party sales when it gets a third party game worth a damn. America is one of the few countries that has Wii Sports as a pack in. In places like Japan, the game is selling on it's own at (I believe) full price. The Wii has quite a few hardcore gamers. If it didn't, you wouldn't hear the constant bickering from the hardcore about the lack of hardcore games. I do think RE4's sales at least proves that there are hardcore gamers on the Wii. I also think when Metroid Prime 3, Galaxy, and Brawl are released, the number of hardcore gamers will increase. In short, I'm expecting something like the DS from the Wii. This paragraph makes you sound like a tard, man. And I know you're not a tard. At least back when I posted regularly here. It was already shown (I forget where) that only 10% of Wii owners never owned a gaming console before. So there are very few grandmas playing with the Wii. While I'll get a 360 and play Bioshock and whatnot, the Wii will also have games that I want. Off the top of my head, Metroid Prime 3, Smash Bros. Brawl, Galaxy, Final Fantasy: CC, Chocobo's Dungeon, Dragon Quest Swords, No More Heroes, Zack & Wiki, and quite a few more. Those aren't simple party games by any means. I don't get the truely next-gen thing, either. Which is what makes you sound silly. Next-gen is short for "next generation." Since the Wii is part of the new generation, it is a next generation console. No, it's not as powerfull as the other two, but that doesn't exclude it from this generation.

Make sure he calibrates the Wii-mote and such. And yeah, Wii is bringing gaming back to the masses. It's great!

How Wii Won - from Fortune magazine
Atari Master replied to Bill Brasky's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
The thing is, the 360 is *just* getting near the price that most previous consoles released at. It shouldn't take that long just to get to that point, it should be there from the beginning and drop as time passes. There's probably quite a few things they could have done in order to keep the costs down, but they started out to high instead. The Wii will likely be in a good position for quite a while, and I think Nintendo likely anticipated that it wouldn't always be there. What will likely happen is Nintendo will have the price so low in the later part of this generation, that people won't have much of an excuse not own one. I think this is what they're going to do with the DS, but they've yet to actually need a price drop. -
I think the tie-in ration is like 5.5 or something. Dragon Quest Swords is the best third party seller on Wii in Japan atm (nearing 400,000 copies I think). I'm surprised it's that high with the shitty games third parties are putting out for it.

I do think the Wii is to weak in terms of technology, but I think the 360 and PS3 pushed technology way to hard. When technology pushes your console above $300, you need to slow down. Hopefully the Wii is a slap in the face for these companies, and they focus on a balance rather than out doing one another. That said, the Gamecube was capable of some very nice stuff, so the Wii should be able to do a lot better. -
Interview with the Regginator about WiiWare Indie Games
Atari Master replied to jbanes's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I don't know about this actually. In theory it sounds cool, but in reality you need to have some screening. I mean you can't have people making games about screwing inflatable dolls or butchering children or something. Not to mention people making games with Donkey Kong or any IP in them. Nintendo's got to be sugar coating if they are saying bug testing is all the screening required. And how does the ESRB factor in? From what I understand, they have to get their rating first (before they can put it up). That and bug testing are their only requests me thinks. -
Normally I'd agree with you, but it's still selling out. At least in the USA and Japan, anyway.
-
The Nintendo Wii will be passing the X-Box 360 in worldwide sales in about a month. If things continue as they are, it'll pass the 360 in about a year in the USA. Halo 3 is coming up, though, so that will help. But the it's same deal with the Wii, as it's yet to drop it's big three either. Yeah, 9 million and still selling out. MADNESS.
-
I feel the complete opposite, Atariboy. It's been a long time since Nintendo took Mario back to his platforming roots, and changed the game around this this. It looks amazing to me.
-
Me neither. I just don't get what is so great about them or the dance games. Push a button at exactly the right time... Sounds like SOOOO much fun. That's the same deal with just about any game. The fun part is trying to keep up with the song.
-
Anyone else going crazy waiting for this? One of the best games at E3 imo.
-
I probably won't be getting it, as I like the freedom of the Wii-mote's current form. I'm sure third parties will be coming up with some variations, though.
-
Just to clarify...Are you still talking about the show or that flick I mentioned earlier Taboo? Huh? I was talking about Mario, Metroid and Smash. Those are all coming up this year. I have no idea what clip you're talking about. : /
-
Honestly, they're all a bit guilty of it. Even Peter Moore threw out a few punches, but I think it's all in good fun. After all, they're trying to sell their respective systems to the press. As for Wii Fitness, I think the difference between it and other health games is that Nintendo will advertise it, and make it quite well known to mom and dad. It's likely the next Wii-Sports. Anyway, the hardcore stuff looks great. I just hope Nintendo has things lined up for 2008.
-
Quick cash in most likely. We won't see any real efforts until mid next year at the least.
-
Well, I was a bit dissapointed. They talked way to much about sales. But getting release dates on Galaxy, Brawl, and Prime was great. The announcement of Mario Kart Wii with online was a good thing too. As for Wii Fit, I think it'll sell quite a bit in the USA. People here are so crazy about diets that this wouldn't surprise me as a million seller. But yeah, I do wish they had ended on a new trailer or something, instead of Wii Fit. Another thing I liked is that it seems they ARE aware that people want online games, and that people STILL do want hardcore games. That's definately a good thing. Hopefully we'll see some really new stuff at TGS.

In case anyone wanted to see what it'll look more like in motion.

Nah, they're probably just going to finish this story and move on. I heard that they might let Retro do their own game, which would be interesting to say the least. Won't be the end of Metroid games, though. It just might not be "Prime" anymore.
