The Wii U: launch and gathering steam
Necron99 replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Modern Console Discussion
anyone with a cell phone, laptop, or tablet can already access that information while watching a movie/tv by going to IMDB.com. Users who use XBMC have a plugin for that too. it's just another gimmicky way of trying to stand out by flashing more useless shit in your direction. -
saw this earlier today.

Why get a 6 switch Atari when you could get a 14 switch?

I would assume the 40 games are built in and the extra switches work like dip switches. Looks weird. -
Been awhile. any updates?

Agreed, Any news would be great.

Is Conker's Bad Fur Day really worth $150?
Necron99 replied to BillyHW's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Not is the buyer didn't do any research into the value of an item and just jumped on ebay and bought the lowest priced item. Actually, I own a CIB copy of CBFD I rarely buy or sell anything on Ebay, and my my copy is not for sale. I understand how the market works and I would agree with you about no blame if Ebay didn't have BIN listings. Many buyers and sellers look at BIN prices as the value of the item instead of what they actually sell/sold for, also having a few $100 BIN listing will increase the Auction value due to buyers assuming it's worth $100. I'm not blaming all buyers and sellers, All i'm saying is that it only takes is a few gullible buyers and a few overpriced sellers to increase the price. Sure, supply and demand play a large part of prices going up but that isn't the only factor here. -

It is the buyers fault for not being patient and waiting for a cheap copy, it's also the Re-seller's fault who buy up all the $30 CBFD and resell them for $50, eventually the value changes to $50 because everyone thinks that's what it's worth. it's also Ebay's fault because FFS it isn't a price guide! -

generally cart only goes for $40-$60. CIB around $150. -
I know someone was selling reproduction overlays...maybe someone else has more info on that? Generally, tracking down a Vectrex overlay is a pain, it's easier to buy a cart with the overlay or CIB, so depends on how you decide on how you want to collect. The Overlays aren't mandatory, but certain games use them in place of graphics. Recycled Gamer does some light pens that are far cheaper than the real thing. The Light Pen and CD Imager will cost you ALOT. even a working controller can be rather expensive. check this list for a generic price http://www.rarityguide.com/vectrex_view.php If you can find a copy of Vectrexians or Vector Pilot, I highly recommend them!

I think this might be the first gen I don't buy a system. I don't care for tablets on my controller or waving my arms around and I like to physically own my games instead of renting them until it's obsolete. btw. sony promised a whole pile of stuff with the PS3 that never materialized. maybe i just don't care anymore. there's tonnes of older good games i can waste my time on without pointless trophies and dumb gimmicks.

Atari wouldn't see any of your money or support if you bought used Atari games.

Price check on these Nintendo games...

Bubble Bobble stands out as the most valuable to me. There's a few others that might get a few bucks, like Super C, Double Dragon II, Legend of Zelda, -
bought some 2600 games from chip! great seller!

I would say Donkey Kong Escapes. wasn't there already 2 releases of it?

What are your Collecting pet peeves?
Necron99 replied to xDragonWarrior's topic in Classic Console Discussion
-finding PS2/GC/Xbox game cases with like 10 stickers from EBGames/Gamestop. they put those on the front, back, side, manual and the especially the round ones that keep the case closed. at least the case is replaceable, but why a sticker on the manual! -Sports/Racing games. I'm debating purging every sports title from my collection. I don't play them and most likely never will -retailers that put a bunch of common stuff under a glass case and make it look like it's a rare gem. generally, seeing that indicated that this isn't a place I want to spend any money at. -
haven't got mine yet either. hopefully soon!

The Walking Dead Physical Release
Necron99 replied to Ghost Soldier's topic in Modern Console Discussion
as long as the physical copy has the actual game and not a code for the download. -
My Parents are pretty cool. they like to go to yard sales, auctions, and thrift shops and seem to know what I want most of the time. A few years ago I mentioned that I would like an arcade cabinet to convert into a MAME/Hyperspin machine. preferable a larger unit for a least 2 player play. Well, last year they found one at an auction...for $15! it was untested but looked in decent shape. Turn out it was a Pirate (I believe) of Space Firebird called Space Bird (The game is actually Space Firebird inside). Quickly the idea of converting this cabinet was replaced with restoring. it IS in great shape. everything works, the marquee has some minor holes but overall it's a good working machine and looks neat. It's also a but too thin for 2 players and the screen is really low and sunk in to the unit. but basically I just couldn't bring myself to rip this apart. A few weeks ago, my parents did it again! this time I got conflicting information on size, condition etc. but knew that it was a gutted cabinet from a game called "Police Trainer". Google didn't help....quite a few styles of cabinets, but found out it's a gun game. it was better than $15...it was free! again I had to wait to see for myself what I Can/Can't do to this thing. Finally got it and quickly found out it used to be a Lethal Enforcers cab that was converted to Police Trainer. the guns were gone, the marquee was still there but the light is old and most likely needs replacing. there is some dings in the wood but most aren't that bad. the bottom of the cabinet has some bad water damage, the glass screen looks to be painted over with black paint overall, it's pretty decent I think, A bit more work than I planned on doing but I think I can do it. How it came A Little blurry, but the basic shape from the side Mostly Gutted The Bad skirt that might be cut off. the skirt bottom is made of plywood. it's clearly seem better days. it also feels like it'll break when you put too much pressure on it Started sanding it down. Took a week to make enough space in the Garage. So other thoughts on this? 1.) I got some T-molding colour samples coming but that will most likely be one of the last steps but might determine the final color scheme in the side-art and marquee design. 2.) The Wood needs repair. My current thought is to cut the skirt of the unit off. This would lower the unit about 6 inches but since I'm a pretty short guy, it's perfectly fine with me! I'll need to sand down the sides and bondo up the large scratches and chipped corners. The cabinet could use a bit more stability too. re-doing the bottom part might help with that though. 3.) new casters! this things was a bitch to move because those casters are all ceased up and beat up. 4.) looking at using a vinyl laminate for the siding instead of paint. my experience with paint isn't good and personally don't like the look of paint on wood. 5.) the screen section is kind of weird. most likely will need to be some configuring there. especially when I decide on a monitor. 6.) The Monitor and Marquee screens need to be replaced. The Marquee one I could get away without replacing at the moment. Glass or PlexiGlass? 7.) the control panel I'm thinking would sit over the edges of where the control panel used to be,the and clamp down somehow to the inside of the cabinet, this would raise the control panel a few inches which is OK if I cut off the 6" skirt mentioned above. the cabinet will fit 2 people but kind of tight, so I think it'll be better to overlap the control panel slightly. since the screen will be nearly upright, I think this will work well. 8.) looking to configure some button into the coin slot. it's missing the inner mechanism and such anyways. I guess stay tuned if you're interested? Any tips from someone who already did something like this?

I never liked the PSN store either. takes forever to load anything and is poorly set up. half the page is ads as soon as you load it.

I might be in for a copy too. is there any pics/video of the game?
