  1. That "Edtris" was one of the ones that I saw. Is that legit? or knockoff?

Found a few more for $20 each. Prehistoric Times, Power Off!, Bomb On Pixel City, Merlins Walls, Video Time Machine, & Pesco

    Legit? Knockoff?

Edtris is one of the first homebrew titles, I'm not sure how the deal went down but afaik, Hozer is the only dealer of that game.

Prehistoric Times and Bomb on Pixel City can be bought from GoodDealGames but it is the same as what you would get by dealing with Hozer himself.

Power Off, Merlin's Walls, Pesco, and Alfred Challenge are Ebivision titles that Hozer has rights to sell (I believe, but could be wrong), but the AtariAge versions are of superior quality anyways.

Video Time machine is more of a demo. not something that warrants making into a cart IMO.

there's a few more I've seen on ebay recently.

Fatman - A Hack of Fat Albert, which is a hack of Fast Food.

Jungle Jane - A hack of Pifall

Fish Revenge - A hack of Space Invaders

  2. usually a homebrew game is $20-$30 loose and $50-$60 CIB.

Everything depends on supply and demand. limited releases tend to bump prices higher after initial sale, better games sell out faster and are harder to find for a reasonable price.

knockoffs are usually Hozer titles, and you can usually spot a Hozer title quite easily by the ugly face somewhere on the label.

not all Hozer titles are knockoffs though. He does custom orders for people like AtariAge does but his stuff is nowhere near in quality.

  3. To be honest I would liked to have had the original AC adapter but as you say it works, and that is the main thing!

Can you shed any light on the lack of serial number sticker? Also what do the 3 (2 9 1) engraved numbers mean?

serial numbers were either stickers or glued on. after awhile they just fall off. I have a couple units without serial numbers and the others I've had to re-glue the labels back on.

the engraved number were speculated to mean the production date stamp. looks like it was built the 29th week of 1981. I could be wrong about that.

  4. Polybius (2600) was released (reproduction) in limited quantity (30 i believe) at PRGE this year, I don't have a lot more info on it other than that. I heard that it was made with BatariBasic, but that could be a rumor, According to the PRGE website it is a lost prototype...

    Anyone else have more info?

  5. Many people even AA users are contantly reselling homebrews bought on AA to resell on ebay for 2-5 times the purchase price.. I freak out whenever I see these games resold.. I am told I am a a&/h&// and to shut up and its the american dream of taking advantage of people and screwing people over for as much as you can.. Most people today have zero integrity and values.. This will continue again and again.. If I was a game programmer I would be more pissed..

All I can say is some people still do value the hard work done for the few atari fans that are still around and would never sell it all to the highest bidder then come on here and tell you to make more..Wth they think your their own personal sweatshop slave?? Its total BS!!

One of the worst examples is princess rescue.. 300.00 ebay.. 30 AA..

Yes, I see this all the time too. there's also several hozer titles right now on eBay that can probably be bought for $10 but they are asking $30.

the Princess Rescue that went for $300 is a slightly different story, it was sold right after AtariAge received the C&D order so you couldn't actually buy it from the store anymore, also, It wasn't a BIN. it was an auction meaning the value is placed on the buyer. a few others have been sold since and haven't commanded nearly that price.

  7. Is there a game that could be considered the first 2600 homebrew title?

A seller on ebay claims the first homebrew game for the 2600 was Edtris 2600. However after doing some research I have not been able to find any confirmation.

I would consider Edtris 2600 the first. Sound X came out earlier but it's not really a game, it's used for testing 2600 audio i believe.

    according to the game labels.

    Sound X (1994)

    Edtris 2600 (1995)

    Okie Dokie (1996)

  8. I've been working on my website (atari2600homebrew.com) trying to document info on homebrew, hack and reproduction games. Of course, this is only for ones released on a cartridge.

    without looking at a list.

    A VCS Tec Challenge

    Boulder Dash

    Candy Catcher

    Gingerbread Man

    Juno First

    Ladybug

    Muncher

    Qb

    Reindeer Rescue

    Toyshop Trouble

and I don't think Riddle of the Sphinx counts as a homebrew.
