  1. Whiny, whiny, whiny. Neat auction. Lame seller with the shipping/breaking it up thing. And finally, collectors who write the seller and say "Why yip yaw, you got yerself a $1300 game in there!" are totally lame. Yes YOU! Just make your offer on the side and then bid like you would have had to anyway. Complaining about someone profiteering is redundant. In all likelyhood the seller bought the stuff from someone who was comfortable with what they sold it for, not knowing they had the billion dollar game in there. So many layers of scam before it hits collector's hands at the highest price, where do you draw the line? You can't. Although I do like to see more deals, rather than middle man money hype.
  2. Hey-O! A bitter stab of truth. I've messed up and put BINs on and had to sell the item at less than I'd like. But that's me. Why not just take the refund and NEG him if you feel so disrespected. End of story.
  3. I'm interested in the hardware, aside from the SIO2PC (have that). If you part it out separately, give me a pm.
  4. They can be very SLOW, but they are dependable. ian
  5. Does anyone recommend an auction assistant program that they use to sell? I've used Turbo lister alot, but it's not running on one of my computers (long story, but basically the computer refuses to update XP any further). I would like something web based and free, ideally. And Turbo lister is quite feature depleted. I don't use much aside from Turbo Lister for buying or selling- I use auctionstealer.com for a few free snipes a month (which I hardly ever use) and then html links for searchs. What do you guys use?
  6. I'd like to sell the lots before I consider breaking up the piles into individual carts. I'm going through this PAL box and then on to the Braz and NTSC boxes and other systems and whatever. Prices include shipping in the US. Just a little more to Canada. Other places will be shipped at cost by weight. I take PAYPAL, but I'd consider a money order if you buy more than one set. $40 shipped for 10 Rainbowvision carts: Catch Time (mild pen on the label),Boom Bang,Curtiss (end label line and label nick), Tuby Bird(edge label bubbling, ok condition),Galactic,Pac-Kong,Pyramid War (label tear),Tom Boy (label nick, end label line),Netmaker,Bermuda (label nick) $28 shipped for 7 Quelle grey label carts: Wustenschlat (end label mild bubbling),Eishocky Fieber,Motocross,Die Hungrigen Frosche (label edge wear),Super Ferrari,Bermuda (end and top label tears),Katastrophen Einsatz $25 shipped for 6 Quelle color label carts: Aufruhr Im Zoo (writing on label),Eddy Langfinger, der Museumsdieb,Wachroboter jagt jupy (alot of writing on label),kampf um die schatzinsel, alices abenteuer, labyrinth(end label wear) $24 shipped for 6 Bit Corp carts: Tanzende Teller, Dancing Plates,Space Tunnel(end label lifting),Sea Monster,Snail again squirrel,Schnecke und eichhornchen (as you can see, there are redundant titles, but with different label styles. $20 shipped for 3 ITT carts: Alien's Return,Meteor Defense,Peter Penguin(mild rippling) $15 shipped for Atari 5200 dust cover in good condition $80 shipped for Dactar Atari 2600 keyboard missing all but one of the stickers. The unit has mild wear.
  7. Pissy la pants! Gorgeous. NITM. (Not in the market.)
  8. Agreed. Those Bomb NTSC carts are quite tough. I've tried to get them for under $150 loose, without any luck. I think CC is about right on his appraisal, but you never know! Good luck!
  9. IMHO, you're probably more likely to get a 2600 '9' for a boxed Congo Bongo. I guess it depends on the '9'. For example, Out of Control has much more value (and rarity) than Inty Congo Bongo. I think Congo Bongo loose (I had one for trade for a while) comes in closer to the $75 price range, esp. with a label flaw. You never know, though! Someone may need it. Good luck!
  10. My immediate reply is that those Activision titles will be nigh impossible to find without actiplaque. Those games even have plaque when you crack a sealed copy, for the most part.
  11. My tradelist follows. I have a few things you might be interested in, esp if cosmesis/completion isn't a priority. 12. Score! Wall Defender NTSC and Asterix NTSC are MINE!
  13. There is no logic. If they price as eBay, the stuff just won't sell. If I wanted to pay eBay I wouldn't be walking around a smelly thrift store. I've noticed over the years that places that price really high just don't sell stuff, and most of them go out of business. Some chains in some regions just don't sell much and don't turn around much, but stay in business because of national clout. Salvation Armies are commonly in this camp. Still, there is no logic. I can say that I am more and more appreciative of honest stores (that is, ones without skimmers who take stuff before it hits the floor) that price game carts reasonably, but high- like in the $3-$5 range. When games are priced under a buck apiece, just about anyone will buy them assuming that they are a deal. When the games are a little higher, the rare games sit a little longer, sometimes even until half price day. So even when thrifts try to price higher, it's always questionable. A $30 SNES setup won't sell until it goes half price, almost invariably. By the way, I've never been to a good thrift store that didn't have half price days. Last comment- thrifts are all as-is places. You actually get alot better service on eBay. Yes, the feedback system and seller's own claims are more valuable than some dingy thrift store's lack of a guarantee. Things you buy on eBay are tested and cleaned. Finally you get your item delivered to your home. No gas, no hassle, no stink. For a thrift to compare what it sells to what people buy on eBay is preposterous. I find it offensive, but it simply is the reality of second hand shopping. Let's face it, it's not a sustainable approach for these stores to stay in business.
  14. I have some stuff, including a bit of SNES, NES and New Horizons for GEN. ianoid's auctions or seller search ianoid. Please have a peek.
  15. My comments: Jo-game - that is a manu I've never seen. Really cool and I love that holo label. Woo! There are at least 5 manus/cart types I haven't seen before in this post. 4 in 1 Dactar porn - that's a combo I've never seen. Supercharger stuff- anyone try playing the Canal 3 or Splice tapes on a modded Supercharger? Some of that Tron stuff I've never seen. That Basic cart is really crazy. Ohhh those ads and controller pics are great. They'll help me keep my random joysticks with the consoles they were sold with. Sometimes those get separated. This is the post that should be a web site. Those pix are fantastic. Does AA keep them indefinitely? Or are they being added to the database in their entirity? Are there any lists of what the Brazilian manus made? Complete as you can find lists of what is available? Especially interested in the big makers like Polyvox, CCE, Dactar, and then Tron, Digivision, Dynacom, Mania, JP, JVP, Shock, Imagic Brazil, Tigervision, Cosmovision... Did anyone else notice the 'Air Raid' Cosmovision cart? Is that Air Raiders or is it the first evidence of Air Raid by Menavision in Brazil? Great work, but I say make a website. Excellent scans and pix! You must have a little photo studio for this.
  16. Folks actually commonly do it by PM. Most people are kind of paranoid or private about 'bids' and just move along with a vague sense of trust. I kind of hate the private bidding thing, but then I've done it many times on the boards. What I don't like is when I make the highest 'bid' and the seller goes public with it (or pms it to others), almost ensuring that I don't get the item, despite having been the initially most aggressive. I pretty much got what I wanted, so I'm making general comments about 'auctions' on the boards.
  17. I dealt with this guy and it went very smoothly. I highly recommend him!
  18. It's tough. The Atari one (identical mechanically) complete is maybe $50-$100. The Sears one is tough- the Sears pongs are generally worth half or less than their Atari counterparts. I'd love to get your for the foam, but I'm more prone to a trade. www.ianoid.com PM me if interested. ian
  19. I went for it. Shipping in the US is substantial at $10.
  20. Let me mention a few things. One, my gripe is not with Shawn having a gripe. His issues seem legitimate. It's the public handling of this issue that is my problem. Two, I think that Sylentwulf has been pretty calm and cool in his replies. I respect that more than the ranting and whining that has been in response. I will continue to use 'Wulf's store and I expect the same great service I've received in the past. I really like AA in general. But alot of you guys replying seem more galvanized about this attempt at public humiliation than you would be at far more significant issues in the world, including the world of collecting. I wish I could just ignore this post, but I'm happy to stand up for someone I consider a trustworthy friend. Any of my other friends in the community could expect the same from me. It's just so easy to join in the bashing, isn't it?
  21. Is this mob scene protecting the community from a scam artist? Definitely not. It's public whining and complaining with the mob rising to the occasion. Would I keep your shipping charge? Typically, no. But that doesn't mean that it isn't the seller's choice to do so, particularly if it's stated clearly in his term for returning items. Check every major retailer on the web- they all threaten 'restocking fees' and lost shipping. Would I do more to make good? Probably. Do I think that this sort of issue should be made public 5 seconds after it happened? Definintely not. And do I think that overcharging on shipping is justification alone for this lynching? No way. I don't need to go into the details again of why shipping international stuff costs more for us as sellers, by virtue of time and actual costs for stuff (priority shipping stuff is free for shipping within the US). But if you have a problem with shipping costs, regardless of what the seller pays, you need to bring them up BEFORE you pay. Hmmm, that's novel! If you are INEXPERIENCED, and aren't familiar with the cost of shipping, perhaps you can consider this a lesson in shipping costs. Shipping to Canada from the US can be as cheap or less than shipping within the US. There, I said it! No secret there (compare shipping with arbitrary shipping from 10101 to 92116 and shipping from USA to Canada at www.usps.com.) Now, lesson learned. So can we stop publicly complaining, when we willing pay for shipping? If you're that convinced you've been wronged, ask your credit card company for a chargeback. Don't post on Atari Age out of anger. Get your money back if you're so sure this is in your favor. Come on, complaining about shipping costs, and not considering them as part of your price, is tantamount to complaining about profiteering. Surely, you all can't attack folks who do that. Many of your upstanding community members finance their hobby and other things by making sick money off of things they purchased from the less greedy members of AA. Another reason I bother defending Wulf is that I can easily see the AA lynch mob jumping on me for some BS issue that I am happy to resolve. I always do whatever it takes to make a buyer happy, and as a seller, I try to be fair, but the reactionary posting here isn't fair. Just because Wulf's policies aren't identical to mine doesn't mean that I don't sympathize with him. And saying 'I'm not buying anything from ianoid because he defends his friends' is fine with me. I'm not desperate for customers who are waiting to hang you on any issue. Sh!t happens, and perhaps it's only a matter of time before an individual rashly and unjustly publically attacks any active seller or member of the public internet community. I just hate to see it so brashly happen here, time and again. AA is a pretty cool space. This type of thread is the main (dare I say only) thing that's wrong with it. If a seller charges $10 for an item and gives you free shipping, or $1 for and item and charges you $9 for shipping, you're still giving someone $10 for something. I've seen some good product cheap at sites like www.vglq.com or whereever, but when I saw that their shipping cost was more than the cost of the items, I decided not to buy it. Couldn't that have been the logic earlier in this transaction?
  22. Seriously, This type of slander is what needs to be locked. If you disagree with shipping costs, DON'T BUY THE ITEM! It's not like he withdrew the money from good sir Shawn's bank account when he wasn't looking. And sellers do not need to eat shipping when returning an item. Returns should not be a loss leader for the small business owner. It's really typical of the newbs to go and rise to arms for something this petty. Most of us who have been around a while are more careful with the rudeness. I don't know why I bother posting. Oh wait, I do know. Because a guy who I've bought from and seen around for years is being unnecessarily attacked in public and you poor sods are crying 'injustice' on a public forum. Well, I think the only person who deserves a public apology is Sylentwulf. If Shawn deserves an apology, that's a private matter between Sylentwulf and Shawn. Shame on you all for tarnishing the reputation of an upstanding seller and member of our classic gaming community. We all have disagreements with someone, but airing your dirty laundry over a $12 transaction is plain childish. At least try waiting until the transaction has been completely resolved, rather than posting out of anger the moment something goes wrong.
  23. I had one of my game boxes a bit crushed in the mail and we worked out a resolution to my satisfaction- and I got another mint sealed copy in the process. I am very happy with my multiple (already) dealings with this guy. I look forward to seeing what he digs up in the near future! ian
