  1. Thanks CPUQUIZ. Some people have trouble with Angelfire pages- especially overseas. Recommend refreshing. The non-forwarded link to my home page is www.angelfire.com/id/ianoid Cheers,
  2. www.ianoid.com is where I keep my tradelist. I like to trade, but cash is good, particularly by paypal. I can use stuff on my wants list, but I collect for just about all systems (although I don't really trade much for current stuff or NES unless I'm dying to play it) so don't hesitate to point me towards your tradelist. Best item is the boxed Atari Video Cube. Note that I'm a stickler on condition ratings- most of the boxes are ok-to-good, although Sky Diver is poor, missing the top label. None of the boxes with ratings are 'mint.'
  3. I'd like to X-ray your cart, Rick. It might be better than nothing. If you are ever in San Diego, bring your blue thing. And that comparison picture from Rick- really nice work, although you COULD have thrown in a Tron cart. The cases are totally different. I just pity the fool who had a unique plastic piece made and then barely used it. Perhaps Air Raid is ultra common in Thailand or something? The Air Raid story just isn't over yet.
  4. this is probably impossible, but I'd like to see Bidiots offer a 'relist on eBay' link. I would be happy to try selling video game stuff on Bidiots, but it's just annoying to have to enter a new listing for eBay when stuff doesn't sell. I never list stuff on eBay for below what I'm comfortable accepting, so taking a risk in the name of the little man would be well worth it to me. I appreciate eBay as a source of revenue for more games, but I don't think it's such a good service as to deserve no competition. Talk about anti-trust! Next successful auction/sale service (hmmm, Craig's List?) to be bought by eBay SHOULD merit the feds getting involved.
  5. I'm also interested. I think that I have a loose one, but I could use a complete one, since my Videopac collection will be as complete as they come, minus the Norseman box (shouldn't be THAT tough.) I even have the other two educational carts complete with instructions in the Videopac console box with the sticker, dammit. I don't have Nico's #61 and #62 (I'll give you $100 apiece for 'em), and I'm not that serious about the Brazilian Odyssey stuff yet.
  6. Matt, I know you're the crem de la crem of Commodore collectors, but I didn't know you were so serious about 2600 stuff. Too bad you didn't win it! And unrelated to the above comment, I don't think that a T-handle alone does a Brazilian cart make. The Tron carts (and other T-handles) are made from a mold without a screw on the end, and they are made of two pieces. Air Raid, on the other hand, looks like the handle is made from a few parts. I'm sure that Rick could compare them side by side better than me, but I think that they are constructed quite differently.
  7. What is the deal with those end labels? Matt, are those authentic? Never seen such. And Matt, where can I get some of those great blank end labels that come on lab loaners? I have a few that are missing them, dammit. And a related but unrelated question... Did anyone ever simulate the waxiness of text label Atari games in reproduction?
  8. All I can say is, I had no idea that Mayhemmers was so into 2600 that he'd bid it up to over $3k. If he hadn't bid, we'd have a more reasonable $2400 or something like that. I'm not surprised. If we had 3 more pop up in the next 2 years, we'd be looking at $1000-$2200 in prices, I'd bet. I think it's reasonable to expect to pay around $2k for this, despite the inevitable outliers. Who wants to bet that a few of these carts come out of the woodwork because of this auction, and that some sell for a bit less, and that some have reserves at $3000 for those 'if I can get that much I'll sell mine' sellers. ian
  9. Ah with the fervor of an investor, new heights are reached. Seriously though, prices don't change with every sale. There is a ceiling to how much people will throw down, and for certain rarities, the box is worth alot, but not double or even close the value of the loose cart. I think it's reasonable to keep your price guess as it was ($4000) because although the box is probably impossible, collectors do not stretch the realm of impossibility for expenses, thankfully.
  10. Personally I think it's worth owning because it has the best full color pix of any collecting book. However, the prices in the back aren't for cheapos or flea markets- really they are for high level dealers or something. A high quality book, but many collectors consider the prices it's Achilles heal. Other books work better as price or rarity guides, such as the Digital Press guides (www.digitpress.com)
  11. I saw your Amazon review. I guess you have answered this question. Still, I can't hope but hope to see antique market vendors adopt this book above all because the prices are so off- I mean good if you're at a flea market! ian
  12. Ianoid's thoughts: This is not a Brazilian pirate if Luiz and the other Braz collectors haven't found it or sold it. Luiz has turned over thousands of carts and probably sees the most carts of anyone down there. It could have been made in South America, Central America or Taiwan. It doesn't matter. By the time this cart probably came out (after 1984?) most game building was outsourced anyway. The fact is that all the copies have been found here. It must have been offered here. Wouldn't it be nice if there were an ad or mention of it in a magazine? It is a hack, and therefore to some degree a pirate. Nevertheless it is a unique pirate, unique enough to be considered a separate title. I mean, we share 98.5% of DNA with chimps, but we have opposable thumbs. Space Jockey clearly has no opposable thumbs. Now that I'm done not making sense, it's still an awesome cart, and very desirable. I hope to get one eventually.
  13. When you're talking about low costs ($30 price point) and large volumes, every trimmed cent is crucial. I doubt any of these companies will add a cart slot to please us diehards. Really, there is no justification. I would love to see a rerelease of carts and a cart system that is pin compatible- you could sell it like a collectible or something (get all the rereleases like the Classic NES for GBA), but I don't know if that's what people want- and you'd have to sell the carts for $5 or something. Anyway, a cart slot is probably impractical given the walmart price point of these systems.
  14. Two games: Snood! This would be an awesome paddle game- high score save recommended. And then I agree on the previous post of Mr. Driller. Snood! Snood! Snood!
  15. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...0&since=-1&rd=1 The Infocom games are coming soon- Sunday. Check out my auctions if you're in the market. Thanks, ian
  16. Yeah, some of these posts have been pretty funny. I didn't think it was an official release by any means, just a weird thing to find. I think that the best idea so far is that someone was blind enough not to be able to see the label, but maybe they could turn the brightness up on their TV and still play. I love that the label is misspelled in Braille.
  17. Ah, the next homebrew hardware project: underwater Atari 2600. Water proof, or at least water resistant and floating. Too many ideas, too little time.
  18. Dang! No editing. I meant Braille Invaders.
  19. Alright, as far as I can tell, the game is just another text label Space Invaders, but I found it with a braile label attached. Weird! Anyone read braile or make something of this?
  20. Ack! I just spent $4 on a mediocre condition Tac Scan for your perusal. It looks like/worse than the pix above. If I'd cracked my sealed copy, perhaps I'd have known. Double label, shmuble label. Any other Sega titles come with such an AWESOME set of stickers? Stickers were so cool when I was a kid. Now they are just alright- nice for a drawer or file, not so much to use.
  21. I got like $165 for the set, which is good money, but not absurd on a $70 outlay. It did take forever to pack up the 30 boxed items so that they wouldn't ruin each other (collector mentality- you should all buy from me ). Not the best investment, but not terrible either.
  22. I'm interested in those- mostly bubble bobble and albert, but I'd love to trade. Cash (paypal balance) is a possibility. My tradelist will be updated a bit later today. www.ianoid.com Thanks, ian
  23. Totally irrelavant: Why no echeques? I never understood the difference between the echeck and the bank account transfer via paypal. ian
  24. Erm, it was my $5 there you're talking about. And I'm CHEAP at the markets. I hate being ripped off by those greedy flea market types. His carts are just fading with disinterest. Alright, alright, I'll pick it up if it's still there. ian
