I've added a jumper to send the clock signal (Phi2) out the RASTime line so as to have Phi2 on the left cartridge port.  This is designed to improve cartridge compatibility on Atari 800's that are using SRAM memory...which does not require RASTime.  The new board is now known as the RAMROM 2023.   🙂

Is it feasible to modify the the RamRom2022 with a jumper wire to provide Phi2?

the 400 and 800 do not have the PBI code in the OS ROM to handle it.

the incognito has the PBI port I think, there is a 50 pin header. maybe the os rom on that has the code for it. the cable between may be a problem because of length. I would try if I had an incognito but sadly I do not. that is also NOT a plea to get one. I have many other things going on right now.

Wouldn't it be possible to add the code in the big hole at $C000-$CFFF?  But the 800 is so large anyway that hanging a 1090 off of it is hard to imagine.

    I noticed the following:

    "Upgrade Version: HDMI output is optional at 720P / 60Hz or 1080P / 60Hz 480i 480P/576P"

Does the model you have include the additional output resolutions?  If so, how do you select them -- the picture of the device shown only selects 720/1080.  I think 480 would be very handy on large monitors.

  4. @segaman40 Are you in the U.S.?  If you PM me, I'll see about mailing you a couple of Dos disks that should be OK on your 810.  @Beeblebrox makes a good point about getting a device that can use disk ATR images.  The only "bad" thing is that there are so many different devices to choose from!   (And no shortage of opinions here as to which you should get.)

  5. I'm surprised that no one has answered your question, but I'll try to help you.

Yes, it is possible to re-format a double density disk to single density.

You need a Dos disk such as Atari Dos 2.0s or another Dos.  Do you have such a disk?  You can go no further without a Dos disk.

  6. @tmp  I'd like to upgrade my older AVGCART with the PBI and ECI cables.  (My SIO mod works great.)  I have a brown/white pcb with the diagonal solder pad.  I looked at the ECI Mod listing, and that looks doable by me.  My questions are about the cables and plastic connector.

    1. Can I get longer cables from you, or must I splice/lengthen them myself?

    2. Can you supply the plastic connector along with the cables?

    -or-

    3. Can you sell me a new-style PCB, if it will fit in my original cart shell?  If so, what would the price be?

    Thanks.

It has multiple OS selection (like AVGCart).

In rom or ram?  I don't see how it could do a rom OS. (?)  Assuming that it is ram OS, is there a general purpose loader for 16K OS, or does the cart "know" a 16K ram OS from a .bin extender or such?  (I'm not familiar with this feature.)

  8. I suspect that this is the "new and improved" cart that the creator of the AVGCART (tmp) mentioned recently.  Looks pretty amazing, but no multiple OS (like the Ultimate). Perhaps a ram OS could be loaded from the cart?  Edit: I just noticed that @tmp changed his avatar to the SubCart.  Color me impressed!

I've been helping Jerry White (yes, that Jerry White!) get back into using an Atari computer... (snip)

That's really nice of you and whoever else that can help.  Jerry did a lot for our A8, especially in the early years when there was a dearth of Atari knowledge.  I wish you both well!

Of course, in the last 10 - 15 years (maybe longer?) Steve Tucker (“Atarimax”) has made repro Happy 1050 boards too; I have two of them for my only two 1050 drives. I have no idea how much the board design differs from the originals.

Yes, I have one of Steve's Happy clones, but I don't believe that Steve ever made a Controller clone.  I've got a couple of the originals, and it really is a very useful upgrade.  It would really be cool if Brian made a new version.

  11. He may be referring to this thread:

There was also a guy in the Detroit area (?) that made a replacement controller and other small hardware add-ons.  Can't remember the name at the moment.  But I never actually saw one of those boards.  Edit: Bingo! -- Innovative Concepts, I think.  And I think the board was called the "Imitation Controller."
