found NES games in trash
rockfistus replied to ComputerCollector's topic in Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom
Nice find man. That game, It's probably Bayou Billy. That game in particular sucks bad. -
I don't even know how anyone could use the 7800 joystick, I tried....once. The only thing they're good for is breaking apart so you can snag the cable, then convert an NES pad to work on it. I wasted 2 NES pads the first time I tried this, but the 3rd time worked perfectly.

Yup, I believe so.

Japan sales for July 17-23....yikes
rockfistus replied to AtariJr's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Ok pal, let's get something straight here...Nobody steals my rolling eyes. Nobody. How else can I put myself on an instant high-horse? Point taken, But controls make a huge difference....Ever played a Tony Hawk game on the Gamecube? I had the misfortune of picking one of them up for it, I'm pretty damn good at the Pro Skater games on the PS2 but the Gamecube controller sucks ass for playing it.....no matter how used to it I got I would never have the kind of control I do on the PS2 version. So I'm thinking along those lines with FPS games on the PSP. Oh and: This is sad, but true Goldeneye is still the best as far as I'm concerned. Even though I never want to play it again, ever. -

You need to read the post completely before posting like this. But I guess I'll re-iterate, I said the PSP looks like it would be nice for FPS (here's the important part, read it slowly) if it weren't for the controls. The higher resolution gives you a wider view...and well I don't really need to explain why I think it looks good for FPS, I just do.... And yes, the graphics do make a big part of the game. If I want nothing but gameplay with less graphics then I'll play my NES, SNES, Genesis, 7800, 2600......etc -
Well after the cartridges start rolling out of the factory it's pretty much a done deal, ya know? Once the executive decision is made that something is 'done' by a company it tends to stay that way unfortunately.

You might be right. I'm DS all the way too....No bias here on my part. Nintendo dominates Japan though so that's another thing to consider. They pretty much own Japan And I don't think Sony or MS are going to change that. All of us other countries are just extra for Nintendo. I'm glad I bought the DS though, it was a big disappointment at first but now some good software is starting to trickle out. New Super Mario Bros., and Metroid Hunters both rock. I thought Mario Kart was impressive but could've been quite a bit better if they would have spent just another month or two on it. They completely screwed the multiplayer...though most people still seem to enjoy it. So I guess I'm just a cynic I still need to pick up Castlevania. The PSP looks like a nice system with a couple of fundamental flaws, it's perfect for FPS' but that is killed by the analog nub thingamabob from what I've read, games like Socom seem to suffer pretty badly because of this. But that's just what I've read. Playing Metroid on the DS is pretty natural after you play it for a while but a little higher resolution would be nice. -

Lol Good ol' system wars. All I have to do to set a forum on fire is mention that I can't wait to get my hands on the PS3 Funny thing is, there was a poll at gamefaqs.com a few months ago that asked "What system will you be playing in 2007?" and the PS3 had thousands of votes compared to the other systems having less than one thousand votes when I voted. I didn't feel so lonely after seeing that, I was starting to think everyone flocked too the 360 after all the reading on forums I've done. I look at it this way, would I rather upgrade my computer to the latest graphics card and spend around $400-500 for one measly GFX card? Or spend around $500 for a whole console that is going to be pretty future proof for a while? Honestly, I just never liked the X-box, it's bulky controllers and soul-less games like Halo that seem to be so popular...so why the hell would I buy one? -
Nice!

There was an explanation for why the level was missing in the nes version, but I completely forget what it was and where I read it EDIT: Whoops, I just had a recall.....I believe there was a chip shortage at the time, so they couldn't get the extra mappers(or whatever) on the cartridges to squeeze it in. As someone else said, the C64 version was great, Pie Factory and all.

If you haven't seen the box-art for Ninja Golf then go look it up right now. It's hilarious

DS Lite and Wi-fi connection concerns
rockfistus replied to figgler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Be warned, there is some problems with the DS-Lites, they're cracking at the hinges. So I've read anyway. -
Too early for high-def, say retailers
rockfistus replied to Shannon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'll buy HDTV when they stop making all the damn things widescreen, They can fit that resolution into a nice square format like a normal tv and yet I've not seen one yet. I don't like big TV's that take up too much space so I'm gonna keep waiting for now.... -
Huh? I thought Scrapyard Dog had tons of variety -- City levels, Junkyard Levels, Sewer Levels and a Factory Level -- 17 in total. I agree that there's a lot of repetitive 7800 games, but don't agree about Scrapyard Dog being one of them. Scrapyard for the Lynx rocked, I still haven't been able to get into the orginal 7800 version yet....God knows I try.

I always liked the arcade version, but not much of a fan of the NES port. Not that it's bad or anything, it's just not as good as the arcade game. Like 1942, the NES version of that game was great, but the arcade version still rules.

Sony's Embarrassing E3 2006 Press Conference
rockfistus replied to jbanes's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Seen the Final Fantasy 7 tech demo for the PS3? When the creator was asked if FF7 was going to be remade for the PS3 his reply was "Never say never!" I'm sold. FF7 in realtime, instead of the pre-rendered backgrounds sounds good to me. Hell even if they don't remake it I still think the system looks damn impressive. I sold my PS2 years ago and I wish I hadn't... I only got my Gamecube to get me by until the PS3 comes along. I'm interested to see how a Silent Hill game would turn out on this kickass hardware as well. -
I agree with ya completely, Ninja Golf is 100% genius....The game itself isn't all that great, but it's not bad either. But I wish more games had a concept with soul like that.

You're so evil man.

Tomb Raider sucks. I bought the N64 when it came out and loved it. And what's this bullshit about guys liking pixellated asses? I know girls that like Final Fantasies And back to my point, I don't think Sony is the new Atari... But I can see how the PS1 could be seen as the 2600 of the new age. You know, since it's a pile of shit, and the 2600 was too. And somehow a few good games managed to get released for both.
-
Where'd you find this? Screenshot don't look bad at all.
-
Just type this into Google: "Double Dragon" "Atari 7800", then click the Images Tab and some screenshots should show up.

I just skimmed this thread, and there's way too many things to reply at I can see what the topic means if you look at it the right way, When I go and play PS1 games now I can see how it's like the Atari 2600 for the kids growing up now, it has grainy quirky graphics that jitter real bad and I'm surprised they actually managed to squeeze any good games out of it.... Sound familiar? The first Silent Hill benefited from the PS1's shit graphics, it made the game seem more evil they way the textures warp and wobble around BTW, I can't wait for the PS3....I think Sony's gonna dominate this round and stay on top as long as the whole Blu-ray fiasco doesn't get in the way too much. But hopefully Nintendo bumps Microsoft down with the Wii, Can't wait to see how that machine turns out.

Noted, though I'm not sure these really do much to impact the enjoyment of the game. 1. Helps you get around a tough spot. To me, it's a neat discovery, kinda like the bug that sets off all the points in the NES version. 2. I've never seen that -- how do you activiate. 3. By thenm you've beaten it. There's also the wierdness bug-thing one level 1, once you reach the end, if you jump kick towards the last 1/3 of the screen on the right once the level stops scrolling, the dude jumps faster and farther for no good reason You can do it jumping right or left as long as you're in that small area.

Ah, yeah I found a list of the unreleased games...That's too bad. I'd like to see how 720 Degrees turned out too.
