Flashback 2 cart for a 2600
Moondoggie1968 posted a topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I know you can dump the roms from the flashback 2, but what about the menu system? Do current methods access that region of ROM? Would that menu's code be compatible with 2600 or does the fb2 have some new instructions? Would you be able to make a multicart from the dump to use on a 2600, hidden paddle games and all. Thanks! -
I just got back into the atari scene, bought 2 six switchers and a 4 switcher with a box of carts and joysticks for 20 bucks off a guy at work. He thought he was getting a good deal since he only paid 5 bucks for the thing. Since then I've got a box indy 500 with controllers, breakout, superbreakout, and circus atari and paddle controllers and a video touch pad is on the way since star raiders was in the box and I hear on here that it's a cool game. Now I've got a really old eprom burner from my freind that has a propietary isa interface might have to build a 286 to get it to program properly. Also got a UV box so I can erase them too. Now since I haven't oldered some cart boards from AA, I've got a couple of here that I desoldered the ROM's problem is, they are 24 pin 2K or 4K carts, Enbtombed and Missle Command. The only eproms I currently have are 27128 28 pin eproms, and some 27256's from some old motherboards. I would like to play with burning my own games, and eventually making a menu driven multi cart, might try to write a menu in Batari Basic. I may even buy a flashback 2 and try to dump their menu and modify it depending on how it's designed. Might be nice to make a flashback 2 cart for old atari's. Probably start with a dipswitch multicart. For now my first cart given what I have on hand would it be easy to use a 28 pin eprom on a 24 pin cart board, I can route the pins with a daughterboard, socket and some wires. I had a really cool collection I bought at a flea market 6 years ago, tons (65+) of games, and every controller, just one atari, but it was great. It was a crime when my ex girlfriend wouldn't give it up after we broke up. She called me years later, one of my first questions was "Where's my atari?". She said, it broke so she threw it all out. I said See Ya, don't call again. All is good again, I've got a new atari and don't have to emulate on my Dreamcast anymore and play a real game of space invaders with now jitters, just like the good old days. Thanks to all who reply.
