  1. Here is one of the photos with more captioning.
  2. Great news! It's been too long since the last Cinciclassic. You know I'll be there.
  3. You're right to an extent..but take a look at the scans I posted above straight out of Electronic Games mag m' friend Honorable Mention: Space Jockey. Not helping your case. Well hello, again there's like 4 or 5 years difference between the games.. 1001624[/snapback] Stargate is also an 8K game with a superchip. I'm helping you with this case.
  4. Sounds great. More than one fireball on the screen at a time is the major need for improving 2600 Warlords. Another improvement needed is some sort of penalty for holding the fireball. I love the arcade way, since there is no penalty if your castle is destroyed. Allowing players to hold the fireball forever changed the game for the worse.
  5. I know it's only a demo but it's it is just as playable and has better sound than Ebivision Pac-Man.
  6. Nice to finally see the pictures from the show. Though I do look like such a dork playing Marble Craze.
  7. That is a list of some damn good games. I had no idea GCC made so many of the good 2600 ports. And I know this is the 2600 forum, but Food Fight and Robotron for the 7800 are gold.
  8. For those of you still waiting like me, you can play the ROM of RR on your favorite emulator. Just download the ROM here at Bob's Blog. (Not to be confused with Bob Boblaw's Blog.) Bob's Blog
  9. Maze Craze Party Mix (needs a Supercharger) Dragster Homebrews Marble Craze Fall Down Gunfight Waring Worms
  10. I was able to pick up a copy of the game at the AA booth in Philly last November. Good luck with your burning. Fight the power.
  11. Thanks for posting the link. It was a nice in depth interview. I had a subscription to the original Electronic Games magazine for years until its death in 1985. I had no idea they tried to revive the magazine in the early 90's. I still can't get over that I threw away all of my copies of EG before I left for college.
  12. Just placed my order at the AA store last night. Seawolf Go Fish Adventure II Holiday Cart (of course)
  13. I'm addicted at well. Of course I have been addicted since the game was a work in progress. I picked this up at Philly and I have yet to play this against a human opponent. Though I can't wait to make a visit Louisville to take on Stan Jr at this. The computer does pay a tough game, which makes it all the better when you beat it. The cartridge design is also great. I love the look of it. It really stands out against my other carts but it does go with Seawolf nicely.
  14. Three and a half years later and still Snider-Man has not awarded me five points. I can't wait forever.
  15. I hope the game is challenging enough for you. There is a practice mode where you can skip levels. Move the left difficulty switch to A and press SELECT to cycle through the levels. This is one feature I haven't tried yet, because I want to see all the levels the hard way.
  16. Not me. I've been working on getting the patch since November. It's going to take me a while to reach that score. Crazy Balloon is a tough game.
  17. I have put my previous post in the Hunchy 2 review in the AA store. Only one word of the review had to be changed. I made it to screen 7 this morning.
  18. I picked up Hunchy 2 at the Philly vgXpo. Of the new homebrews released at the show, it was the one that suprised me. I knew before I got to Philly that I was going to pick up Swoops, Fall Down and Crazy Balloon. All it took was playing one game of Hunchy 2 on a real 2600 to make the game a must buy for me. If I could sum it up in a short sentence, it's like playing Miner 2049er for the Atari 8-bits on your 2600. Yes, the great original version of the game, not the pathetic 2600 translations we were stuck with 20 years ago. Hunchy 2 is a great platform game with strategy. You have to collect the bells on the screen before time runs out and in the later screens, this involves a lot of figuring out how to get to them. And get them all within the time limit while avoiding the missiles from the side, which seem to come when you least want them. Hunchy 2 has 14 screens and it is amazing that Chris got all that in 4K. I've made it to screen 6 so far. It's addicting and fun.
  19. I just got off the phone with Stan Jr. He and Aimee are doing fine but are very busy right now. Stan is no longer a Mad Scientist. He is now managing a Cajun restaurant 6 days a week while also working on his master's thesis. Right now he just doesn't have time to do the Stan Awards or even visit Atari Age very often. When he does go online, it's to check his e-mail and do research for his school work. I'm sure he will check in here from time to time as he has in the past few months. So the message from Stan: Continue with the Atari Excellence Awards. He started them to generate interest in homebrews and recognize the authors for their efforts. One thing he did find disappointing about the Stan Awards was that he hoped it would spark discussion on homebrews. The threads he started never had much discussion. He never got a lot of feedback on the Awards and wasn't sure how many people cared about them. [End of message from Stan] This year has been a huge one in terms of the number of homebrews released. I hope the new format for the Awards will generate a lot of discussion in all the categories. Though if someone other than Nukey Shay wins Hack of the Year, I'm leaving this site for good. And then you'll have to find someone else to speak for Stan.
  20. I'm a big fan of the Master Strategy Series. It was the one thing that had me wanting an O2 instead of a 2600 back in 1981. I had not heard that the prototype for the 4th game in the series was found. I love mystery novels and mystery games, so I've always imagined this game would have been great. Giving the limitations of the 02 and my experience with the other 3 games in the series, it's proably only great in my imagination. It would take some kind of genius to figure out how to play game from just the ROM. Or someone with a ton of time.
  21. It would be a shame if the Stan Awards disappeared like they never happened.
  22. Great that Paul is still here. I can't believe that while owning both Crazy Balloon and Swoops, I didn't notice XYPE wasn't on the label. I must be getting old.
  23. They put NHL 95 on there? Why? NHL 96 is so much better.
