  1. Thanks for the support, and I love your Ken Uston avatar! The exploits of card counters beating the odds is one reason for my interest in Blackjack. I'm not a gambler at heart, but I really like the idea of people gaming the system using nothing but their brains. That is what got me interested in blackjack as a game to study further. I also have been addicted to the game at times but, thankfully for my wallet, only the electronic versions. I'll have to dig out one of Ken's books and try some open book card counting with your game.
  2. I stand by what I posted eight years ago.
  3. I really like this game. Great job so far.
  4. More music to listen to in the final minutes.
  5. Of course, many of the 2600 developers live in PAL land.
  6. Now I'm actually glad I didn't buy an iMac a few months ago or I would have been pissed off right now. Although my PC does everything I need and more and I'm perfectly happy with it I must admit that those new iMacs look nice! And amazingly the price isn't bad either! Anyone want to buy my new PC so I can get an Apple? Sigh, maybe next time. Tempest That did happen to me. I'm posting this on my 18 day old iMac. Apple's customer service was outstanding. I called them up and complained. The new iMac's came out exactly 14 days after I got mine. The price drop bothered me more than the more powerful hardware. The result is that I'm shipping this computer back to Apple on Monday. And I just ordered one of the 27 inch iMac's on Friday. This is my first Mac and I really like it so far. I'm still trying to get the hang of everything though.
  7. When was the ROM released for this game? If I remember correctly, for the longest time, the Blue Sky Rangers were holding this one back due to copyright reasons. Have they released any of the other M-Network prototypes?
  8. I got a few games with my 800XL for Christmas in 1984. Two of the games were from EA and they had a buy two, get one free offer. I got Murder on the Zinderneuf with the free offer. I think it's an underrated game.
  9. Regarding the Chris Crawford comment, was this in his book called Chris Crawford on Game design or another article? I bought a new sealed copy of eastern front and opend it up to play. Even the manual was well done. It must be from another article. I have Chris Crawford on Game Design. It contains a chapter about the design of Eastern Front but doesn't get too deep into the techincal programming details. The focus of the book is game design theory. If you are a Crawford fan like I am, I would suggest getting all of his books.
  10. Yep, absolutely! If Al sold such a Bikini Calendar he would be swimming in money in no time! The hard part will be finding 12 women who regularly visit this site. As much as I love AA, it's kind of a sausage festival... I would be fine with 12 months of Chickybaby.
  11. Here is a link to the manual for Eastern Front, thanks to Atarimania. I would like to see you revise your review after you learn how to play. It is my favorite war game. http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=5986
  12. My TAC-2 is hooked up to my computer through the Stelladpator, which is the main way I play 2600 games now. As far as directional movement goes, this is the best 2600 joystick I've ever used. It feels like an arcade stick, more so than any of the Wico sticks (which I own about a half dozen.) The buttons on mine are not responsive enough for the faster action games. But I think this is because it has had heavy use and is not a fault of the model.
  13. On the basis of this review, I'm going to pick up this book the next time I order from Amazon. Of course I need to finish reading the books I bought over Christmas. I'm currently reading Chris Crawford on Interactive Storytelling.
  14. You know what is great about the NFL? Team parity.
  15. I've played Tokyo Wars with four players. It's been a while though. I last played it at the Jillian's in Columbus before a Blue Jackets game, so it's been probably five or six years ago at the least. I think it's a great multi-player game.
  16. I'll clarify that Party Mix is for two or four players. It isn't fun with three players either, because the games are set up with two teams of two players. Tug of War is the only game you could play with three players. Since the only control is the paddle button, one player could play with two paddles.
  17. No problem. The first place I ever saw erasmatazz.com was from the links on your site. I have had his game design library from the site bookmarked for a few years now.
  18. Erasmatazz.com shows up for me. Chris Crawford's Erasmatazz interactive storytelling project is now called Storytron. www.storytron.com He posts in the forums there. He has been working on Balance of Power 21st Century. His last post was on October 15th.
  19. In preparing this response, I had to watch one or two of Ben's videos. An hour later, I am now finally typing this out. His videos are brilliant, hilarious and totally entertaining. I don't even play modern video games and I watch his reviews. (And if you are wondering how I found out about him, I was interested in Bioshock a while back and found his review on Youtube.)
  20. Use the Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20040811003614/...html/secqst.htm Someone needs to archive that page here at Atari Age. With Warren's permission of course, if he is still around or able to be contacted.
  21. You can turn it back by clicking on Options and then turning the display back to standard. I'm not sure why it does this but it has happened to me a few times.
  22. I totally agree. Pitfall II has great graphics and sound for the 2600 but the gameplay is terrible. I have never actually finished a game. I'll turn it off before I run out of points. I've posted before that Pitfall II could have been the first modern video game, where you spend a lot of time running over the same territory again and again.
  23. Here is a whole page of links. http://www.atariage.com/2600/programming/index.html
