Comin' for you StanJr! (Entombed record in danger...)
Big Player replied to Snider-man's topic in Atari 2600
Oh yeah! Well you both better watch out. Current high score: 21 (Only had the game for five days and I had to try out all the other great games from the Cinciclassic. Thanks Pitfallaimee!) -
What game "hooked" you into collecting the classic
Big Player replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The Activision Action Packs. They had all the best 2600 games that I had wanted as a kid but couldn't get. At the time I thought it was the only way I was ever going to be able to play H.E.R.O., Keystone Kapers, Frostbite etc. After playing them awhile, it just didn't seem they played like they did on a real 2600. Now of course I know they have an incredibly weak emulation program, but this was before I got on the Internet. My first foray into collecting was getting all the great Activision games for the 2600 that I never had. -
WITNESS CLAIMS "EXTRATERESTRIALS DID IT" An attendee to the Cinciclassic claims he was witness to the mysterious Sky Jinks death. "It was those E.T. carts!" said Big Player. "They were just jealous! They knew no one would even take them for free." Police officials stated "We have reports this man is a crackpot. Apparently this long-time resident of Cincinnati had a hard time finding a restaurant open at Midnight on Friday night." The man was in police custody Monday night, as part of the "Wacko Sweep" done anytime the President is in town. He was released once President Bush left Cincinnati, after making a speech on the Iraqi threat. The White House declined comment on the matter. --Cincinnati Enquirer

@Stan. Anytime you want to come to Cincinnati, it would be great fun. Did you find the Vic Cassano's pizza place? The main problem with the restaurant is Aimee can't eat Mexican food. Call me crazy, but one thing I really like to do in restaurants is eat. However, it was interesting and memorable. Everybody Mexican Karaoke! -
There is a classic gaming meeting in New England on Oct. 19. If the vendors are anything like the ones at the Cinciclassic, you should be able to add a lot to your collection for very good prices. Heck, you might even get some free common games there. Good luck.

@Pitfallaimee. I hope killing the spider makes up for the restaurant find. I guess the only thing worse would have been called the Fried Mexican? @Stan. I held back in that Double Dunk game. I wanted you to likethe game and buy one, so I would have a worthy oppontent. Don't try to mess with the DD Zen Master. That aside, there was the big "Stan vs. BP Marble Craze Deathmatch" on Friday night. I'm not sure too many were there to witness it. Funny, I was able to beat Stan on some of the early levels, but he lasted longer and won the match. -
I read the title to this thread and was worried for a second. I thought Stan might actaually be addicted to this game. Good thing it's just some type of portal to Hell. I was worried for a second.

Stan picked up a copy of Montezuma's Revenge at Cinciclassic. . . for $5! -

@Cafeman. Yes, that was me at D&B on Friday night. @CincYnoTi. Nope, no giveaways. I bought 2 Atari Age T-shirts--wish I could do more to support AA. Snider-Man's deals were INSANE! I bought ten carts from him at drastically reduced prices. The "Snider-Man vs. Stan Entombed Deathmatch" was a sight to see! I'll post more as soon as I can remember it. -
This game is great. I had only played it on MAME before. I got the lowest score in the tournament. Well, at least everyone I saw got a higher score. I didn't check if I really was THE lowest. It's still so damn fun to play.

What a blast! Got to meet, talk and hangout with: Albert Cafeman MattG/Snyper2099 PitfallAimee Scooterb23 Sephie Snider-Man Stan jr Tempest I was able to pick up so much great stuff, I'm still going through it all now. @Icecold: Dude, why didn't you say something. Anyone you saw on Saturday wearing an AtariAge T-shirt was a regular poster to the boards. I was the short, balding guy. Glad you could make it and be sure to enjoy Marble Craze. @Scooterb23: I still like Black Widow--a fun game I just havn't played much other than on MAME. Now I not too proud about having the lowest score in the Black Widow tournment, but I don't blame the game. I just won't enter any more Black Widow tournments. Too bad I couldn't have helped you with the Flag Capture picture. I did know it, but not enough of the other questions. I'll post more later--still catching up on everything. -

Ahhh! Abort mission. There's just no time now to get Tigger. Damn misunderstanding. Well, everyone who's going to be there, see you tomorrow (or Saturday if that's going to be your first day there.) We will have a complete report for all who can't make it. See ya! -

Relax, they're only a last resort. I mean, they are in the trunk. Wait a minute. How'd you know about them? (Psst, Stan, I think he's on to us.) -

Based on the "Did you know?" boxes on the AA main page, Space Invaders was considered one of the first Killer App's for the 2600. I'm guessing it means the game that everyone has to get and makes people purchase the system. I think HALO was considered a kiler app for the XBOX.

You can hang out with me--my companions are an industrious lot and will likely want to get things set up and do work and stuff. I can't have any of that, now can I!? Sounds great! I was rather hoping no one would take me up on my heavy lifting offer. -
*Hides thread from NE146.*

I'm also stuck on level 9. Of course I get there with only one or two marbles left, so I'm sure Stan will get past it before I do. I wish I had more time to play this awesome game as well. Spent all day yesterday helping a friend move. And then next weekend I'll be at the Cinciclassic. Be there if you can!

Here's the schedule from the web site (from Matt's sig.) Hope to see you all Friday night. I don't have anything to set up, but I am good at hanging out. I'm also good for any heavy lifting.
