  6. Just want to add. Marble Craze Rocks! It gets a definite buy recommendation from me. Excellent work Paul.
  7. I'll be there with a wad of cash and my Double Dunk cart, since Stan has never played the game! Look forward to meeting everyone there. I can't wait for it.
  8. Firefighter Space Shuttle Montezuma's Revenge Seaquest Prizes Private Eye Off the Wall
  9. I got my 2600 on Christmas in 1981. I had asked for an Odyssey 2.
  10. I thought nobody beats the Wiz? Good luck cleaning them out guys!
  11. And in Nebraska, we collect STEAK! And National Championships. Not this year!
  12. Update: Stan is right again. It took me about an hour of playing, but I finally figured out the best way to hold the controls and the whole thing clicked for me. It reminds me of the Robotron controls. They take a little while to get used to at first, but once you figure it out, it is the most natural and intuitive thing. And you have incredibly precise control over the marble. Nice physics as well. The marbles do not stop on a dime. I put both paddles on my lap side by side and use slight pressure to hold them in place. I use my right hand for vertical movement and left for horizontal. I can now get up to level 6 consistently. Now the music is playing in my head.
  13. Slight correction. Paul, Thomas and others would have worked for Activision back then.

  15. Just got Marble Craze in the mail today. WOW! I've only been playing it a half-hour. I'm still getting used to controls, but it's because they are unlike any other video game. I don't see how I am going to survive in the levels without walls. The music is incredible as well. Is it really coming out of a 2600? Stan is right, Paul Slocum is a genius.

  17. Computer is tough? Oh, I've got some work to do. Some quick tips. *Throw the playbook out. I always improvise my plays. *To avoid getting the ball stolen, back up as far as you can once the play starts and shoot quickly. Rush in for the rebound. *When rebounding, don't get too close to the basket. Just try to get inside position on the computer and time your jump. The out of bounds line at the top of the screen is very close to the basket and unforgiving. *Find a spot on the court where you are comfortable hitting three-pointers with Mr. Outside. Practice until you are automatic from this point. *Any time Mr. Outside gets the ball, go to your sweet spot and toss up another three-pointer. *Finally, channel your hatred of losing to the computer into practice, practice, practice. You must want to beat the computer badly. Goal for Double Dunk Zen Apprentices: Score 199 points against the computer and unlock the Easter Egg!
  18. I loved this game, it was one of my favorites for the 8-bits. I ran mine on an 800XL and never had a problem seeing anything in the game. Wish my 800XL hadn't died ten years ago. And I threw out all my software.
  19. Since you went to OSU and live in Cincinnati, hopefully you'll get to watch the Buckeyes crush UC You know it! I've got 12 people going and we will all be sitting right in the middle of the UC section. (My brother is an MBA student at UC, but also an OSU grad--and will be rooting for the Bucks.) We are going to do our part to turn Paul Brown Stadium into Ohio Stadium South, for a day at least.
  20. Still eagerly waiting for my copy.
  21. Hey, so what do I get for being a clue? Homework assigment for some of you: Play Double Dunk! The DD Zen Master has spoken.
  22. I have the same version of Robot Tank with the 5 different languages (looks like English, French, Spanish, Italian and German.) I bought mine from a guy in Canada. I have no idea if it is PAL or not--it works fine on my TV. That's all I know about them. Anyone else know more?
  23. Yes, that's a bug, you shouldn't loose all your lifes then. And because you are not the first who mentioned it, I better fix it until the next version. Good to hear it's actually a bug--since I last found the non-existent "computer going alone" bug in Euchre.
  24. I like the original labels better for the screenshots as well. Also, back then, when I desparately wanted to own every Activision game, all they had was the original labels. First time I saw any different ones was when I got my Space Shuttle cart, which had this strange white label. I do like the fact there is less actiplague with the blue/white labels.
