Fine Tune Heavy 2600 Picture -- over-saturated pic
LittleJoe replied to SnapCraft's topic in Atari 2600
Here's a scan of the bottom of a Rev 16 board that I just added a 680 ohm resistor to between TIA pins 6 and 9. Definitely worth the price of the resistor in picture improvement via a LE 2.2b av mod using s-video. -
Date stamp - 15th week of 1979.

I had the pleasure of modding a 2600 for tremoloman2006. Very smooth, very easy transaction. I would not hesitate to do business with him again.

If your on the fence because of the cable, I'll do chassis plugs - S-video, composite and stereo audio out the back for an additional $10.00. Or you can supply your own longer av cable from a gamecube, or PS2 or whatever. and I'll permanently attach that. And it will include the CD74HC4050E buffer. The only part of this you should change is the length of that S-video cord. 5' is way too short.

Perhaps I can help someone avoid this. For $55.00 and shipping I'll hand build Longhorn's supurb 2.2c design and install it into your 2600. Handbuilt on a prototype board because I'm a glutten for punishment. Just offering a smidgen of competition which is what's needed here. I have a few sets of the parts left so I promise 3 day turn-around on the first few. Permanently attached 5' s-video only cable, with stereo (no composite). I'm just making a pittance on this to subsidize my Atari console addiction. Ooh and I get to eyeball the inside of your console. I'll even warranty it for 90 days, and send Longhorn a 5 spot as a licenseing fee. PM me.

I've got fabulous crystal clear results using the same cable with Longhorn's 2.0 mod. What other differences are there between your mod and BenHeck's 2.0?

In Ms Pac-Man the fire button alone will start a new game.
-
Sounds like your fire button is stuck closed on your joystick. Unplug the joystick and see if MS Pac-man starts automatically.

Here's my offer, CD4050 FAQ mod built from scratch, s-video out, and installed $40.00 http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=134884

I gave it a try because it looked quick and simple and it just plain didn't work for me. I went with a CD4050 mod on a 4 switcher out to S-video and I'm happy with it. Also tried the Benheck 2.0 mod which makes nice bright colorful composite, but with big shadows on certain colors. I suppose you could do the CD4050 mod on a JR but there's very little room in the case.

2600 AV Mod - Straight 4050 mod out of the FAQ
LittleJoe replied to LittleJoe's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Bump with photo. 5' permanently attached S-video cable with audio, replaces RF cable. -
I sold him a few consoles for one of my first transactions here, and everything went splendidly.

They are just to the right of A200 on this diagram. atarimb.bmp -
I've done a trade with accousticguitar. Highly recommended for smooth transactions.

I've got a vader that's stamped 174 - 17th week of '84. The serial number AT840292895. Does anyone have anything later?
-
I tied chroma and luma together at the end to make composite, using the original black Atari cable. Perhaps I should find some s-video cables and update the posting in marketplace? Personally I was just happy to get rid of RF.

I've just installed a 4050 FAQ mod and I bought extra parts. If your interested in that mod, I'll do it for $40.00. Same price as 8bitdomain but with installation. PM me if interested.

I purchased a few extra parts when I did mine. If anyone would like the 4050 mod out of the FAQ installed in their 2600, send me a PM. $40.00.
