First attachment is a picture of TV Output using BenHeck 2600 2.0 AV Mod Composite connection on a 32 inch CRT, other is RF for comparison. I've completed the CD4050 mod and it is far better.

I've seen one 4 switch vader without sockets. It was date stamped 31st week of '83. Until I saw this I was under the mistaken impression that all the Warner era 2600s had sockets. Out of my 4 heavys, one has a channel select switch. All of them have Sunnyvale serial stickers. I've haven't noticed a difference in the rf display between any of the types of 2600. Perhaps because my TV fine tunes everything better than an circa 1980's set would have. I've noticed only some have a vertical line on the very left side of the screen, but I haven't kept track of which type has the line. All sixers have the same cartridge slot. I'd like to know how any many 2600's have "Video Computer System" printed in gold.

FT: Bare 2600 Console for some commons
LittleJoe replied to LittleJoe's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Thanks everyone, sorry I havn't replied. I got 2 PMs, prior to the first reply in this thread, and I'm doing trades with both. If I need to fill out any more commons or not-so-commons - if that's OK, I'll PM the folks who replied to this in order. -
I did this mod and it's OK, but certain colors are really smeared to the right. Ms. Pac-Man really shows the smearing well. I'm going to do the CD4050 mod in the FAQ next. I tried the FAQ Croma circuit tied into the BenHeck 2.0 Mod out to composite and it got rid of most of the smear, but I'm still not satisfied. I'm hoping the full CD4050 mod will be better.

I've got very clean 100% working Vaders and 4 and 6 switches available to trade for some 2600 commons.

No notches on the retail disk. They may very will be identical, but the obvious bug planted the question in my head years ago. If they are different it would be a plausible explanation of the blue dot. It doesn't make too much sense that it's a printers index mark.

After a complete search of everything 8-bit that was stored away in a very disorganized fashion and after giving up in despair I found them! I've got a SIO2PC on the way from Atarimax. Attached are scans of the disk labels.

Here's the one I have: 83S DA 009547 103

Is anyone familiar with multiple versions of Seven Cities of Gold? I had two retail copies of the game back in the day. (I should still have the original disks). One copy had a blue dot in the upper right hand corner of the label and the other had no dot. One version appeared to have a bug where the map would get corrupted. The bug may have been a fluke, but I'm planning on comparing those disks one day.

I don't have one for sale, but I'd love to have one with a blown MB. PM me with a price.

The first thing to rule out is the power supply. If you don't have anything to check it with you can use your tongue. If it's working properly it should just sting a little. Ideally you should check the voltage with a meter. Once the power supply is ruled out and known good you can move to the next most likely culprit.

Back in the day I beat 6.0 seconds in Dragster quite easily and got the patch. Perhaps they mailed out a lot of them? My best times were in the 5.8 range. The record in the manual was 5.61 and I didn't see that record as out of the realm of possiblility back then. Does Todd use a standard Atari joystick?

After being powered on and working properly for about 5 minutes they crash, usually with a dark blue horizontal line with little bit of smear at the ends at the bottom of a black screen. After crashing they will power back on and work for about 5 seconds then crash to the same blue line. The blue line is quite consistent regardless of the cartridge. I opened one and found a rev 14 board. The output on the voltage regualtor is 5.03 volts without a cartridge. Input voltage is 11.43v. I'm only armed with a digital vom. I'll keep plugging away, I plan to measure the voltage after the failure. The stock 9V 500ma Atari power supply I'm using for both systems is delivering 14.3v without a load, which I gather isn't that much out of the ordinary. A light 6er appears to be continuously happy with the same power supply. I just wondered if anyone recognized the dark blue line at the bottom of the screen of death. DBLATBOTSOD?
