Unfortunately, there isn´t many places to buy Atari carts. There´s a flea market in Rio de Janeiro called "Feira da Praça XV" which sells everything and I mean it! It happens every Saturday morning at Praça XV. But you have to be lucky to find good stuff and if you find it! Probably in Sao Paulo, there are more places to go. Or, you can buy at Brazilian Ebay called mercado livre (www.mercadolivre.com). Sao Paulo is a state in Brazil and its capital is Sao Paulo (largest city in Brazil). It is 45 minutes by plane or 6 hours by bus from Rio.

Hi everybody! Even though I am brazillian I do not collect Braz´ carts (only American ones), but I would like to contribute with my friend Sr.Ferraz and Rom Hunter. I am scanning some Braz carts I have and haven´t seen on Atarimania (scanshots or games). Please Rom, check if resolution is ok, if not let me know so I do it again. I have some more to scan. I going to wait your words on these. Sorry if Ferraz has already showed any of these carts here. I used Atarmania database to check if there was a scanshot or not. Article on Brazilian Newspaper mentions TomBrazil and Atari Age

Hi people, I asked Tom and he said I could translate the article. So here it is. It was a free translation so excuse me of any English grammar mistakes. Atari 2600, 30, still worshiped by fans Collections, emulation, game programming keep console soul alive; items manufactured in Brazil are worth abroad. Have you played your Atari today? This great line broadcasted on TV commercials in America still is in many people minds. Atari 2600 turns 30 this month and have an active and enthusiastic legion of fans collecting, playing and making games. “The coolest thing about it is the sense of community”, says businessman Antonio Borba (aka TomBrazil), 33. He has recently been in America to meet collector friends, “better than have a rare item is finding people with common interest”. Borba is considered by site www.rankbrasil.com.br as owner of the largest Atari collection in this country, which it can be seen at tombrazil.magicwebdesign.com.br. Before starting this hobby, he played Atari games on emulators – softwares which reproduce a system (in this case, the Atari console) on another (computer). The function of them is simple: just execute the emulator file and load a game file (ROM). They allow you to play an enshrine title and rarities which can not be found easily on cartridges. Even unreleased and unfinished games can be downloaded and played on them. Emulators are also used by game programmers. A few people know, but 2600 games are still been produced – mainly by fans who like the challenge to develop a game for such a limited machine. Many of those start it by changing an original ROM file. By doing so, they begin to understand how the machine works and may even write a game from beginning. Some programmers not only distribute the game ROM file but sell their production on cartridges. The Atari VCS (Video Computer System) was released in America in October of 1977. It got his 2600 signature in 1982 when the company released its successor, the Atari 5200. Atari was released in Brazil by Polyvox in 1983, when market already have brazilian cartridges from Canal 3 and Dynacom and console clones – not licensed – like Dactari and Dynavision. At the end of the same year, “vídeo game crash” ocurred in America – the falling of game industry due to market saturation. Here though, things just got started. In 1984, there was a huge boost in console clones and game production – today these items are well worth by collectors abroad. This fever was gone when computers were becoming popular and the launch of NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). Even though, Atari 2600 was produced up to 1992, which by no means meant its death. (RIGHT COLUMN) TOP PLAYS - Atariage (www.atariage.com) is the largest reference about Atari on Internet. - Collectors often buy at www.mercadolivre.com.br, www.ebay.com, www.atariace.com and www.atari2600.com - Atariage and www.atariguide.com hold the largest game database and ROM files for downloading. - The most renowned emulators to run on computers are Stella (stella.sourceforge.net) and z26 (www.whimsey.com/z26/26.html) - Game programmers can, beyond Atariage forums, subscribe to Stella discussion list at atari2600.org/mailman/listinfo/stella -

Hi guys. Thanks for your posts. Regarding Ebay, I check it twice a day!! I bought this Pressure Cooker. Yes, it is Canadian, but I dont mind. The only version I dont want it is the International Edition, cause the box is smaller. (I have Dragster). That´s the reason I post it here. Maybe some friend might have one of those carts left and wants to sell it to me. Thanks again and I hope to get them next year! Happy Holidays!

Well, I vote for Activision. Let me explain why. Even though Atari made great games, most of them were from arcade (Space Invaders, Missile Command, etc). Activision however created unique games (most of them). The idea behind games like Keystone Kapers, Pitfall, Seaquest, Frostbite, HERO is just amazing!!
