TT030 Disk Drive & FA*ST Harddrive Questions...
petervh replied to petervh's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Great, thanks for the tips guys. I had tried a random 3.5" HD from an old dos box, with no luck, so I guess I am going to have to buy one of those Epson's off of ebay. -
TT030 Disk Drive & FA*ST Harddrive Questions...
petervh replied to petervh's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Hmm, interesting. I did try a random 3.5" drive with no success. Maybe it is a matter of resetting some DIP switches, is this a possibility? Anybody have any clue how they should be set for a TT030 with a HD disk drive? I am in Canada. I do hear a harddrive spinning, and it is in an external case. One thing though, there is a hole at the front of the case. Not sure what it is for. Its not big enough for a CD drive, but maybe a disk drive? I haven't actually bothered too much with the external drive yet, as getting the 3.5" on my TT is more important right now. Is it possible to install a 3.5" drive into this external drive and use that as the main disk drive instead of the internal one on the TT? Thanks, - Peter -
I agree, it will goto someone with a ton of money, who just may keep it for looks. I ended getting my last one after all the BS for $75 bucks. Already outbid at the $50 level... cool enough, just wanted to give it a good start. Happy auctioning. Yes, these machines do go for a fair bit more than perhaps most collectors would like. However, thanks to these old Atari's and others like them, I have been able to put together quite a nice home studio whilst still living on a student budget - Peter

Hello, I am trying to set up an Atari TT030 I recently acquired. It has some issues right now, the two most important being that I can't load disks on it, and the harddrive is not showing up on the desktop (though one is installed). I believe that once I get the disk drive running, I should be able to format the harddrive without too much trouble. Apparently the disk drive installed works with HD disks, at least according to the guy who sold it to me. Might I be able to switch up the current drive with any old HD disk 3.5" disk drive, or are there only certain disk drives that will work with it? Also -- the TT030 came with a FA*ST external harddrive. However, it didn't come with any cables or instructions, so I'm not really sure how to set it up. Also, there is a big hole on the front of it where I imagine a disk drive or something else important once sat. Does anyone know how to make use of these? Are there any manuals available online anywhere? Thanks in advance! - Peter

Hey there, Well, I once tried to sell a Mega STE 4, a 1040ST, and a Mega ST here on these forums...and I didn't really have much luck. Some offers were given, but they weren't anywhere near as high as what they inevitably sold for on Ebay. If you would like, however, I do have a minty TT030 that I recently aquired which I will be selling after I set it up properly. I think it has 2 megs of ST ram and 16 megs of TT ram. Feel free to make an offer on that. - Peter

Hello everyone, I just put up three auctions on ebay which might be of interest to some of you. The auctions are for a minty Mega STE with 4mb of ram and a 40mb harddrive, a copy of Noator v3.1 (with 3.21 disks) complete with a Unitor 2 midi expander, and a beautiful 1040STFM. All of these items are shipping from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I have sold a few other pieces of Atari gear over the last year, and they all went without a hitch. Here are the auctions... Atari Mega STE 4 Notator v3.1 (with v3.2 disks) complete with a Unitor 2 midi expander Atari 1040STFM A few pictures... Thanks for your time! - Peter

Dead harddrive on a Mega ste...opinions?
petervh replied to petervh's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Actually...I managed to get it formatted and working later in the evening! No more problems here... -
Hello everyone, I recently picked up a very minty Mega STE 4. However, I cannot get it to boot from the harddrive! I tried running a copy of AHDI, expecting that all it would need is a format, and it explained that i need to 'check my connections'. I opened up it up, and everything looks to be in place. All the cables to the harddrive are secure, I couldn't find any loose chips, so I am hoping to get some advice on these boards. Perhaps the harddrive itself is dead? In which case, would any old SCSI harddrive work (though I am aware I would only be able to access a small portion of it)? I do have a spare SCSI CD rom drive, would it be possible for me to switch it up with the HD cables, and see if I can load content off of cd's, just to ensure that it is the harddrive and not some other problem? I have never tried using a CD rom with an ST, so if this a good method, some advice on using it with the ST would be most appreciated. Thanks! - Peter

Hey guys, Just a quick question for all of you. I have recently got a hold of several ST computers (Mega STE, 2 x 1040ST, 520ST), which I will be ebaying over the coming weeks. I am curious if I should be selling the monitors with them, seperatley, or not at all? I do have monitors for each computer, some monochrome, some color, but they are all of course quite heavy so I am not sure if I might scare away potential buyers with them. Should I be selling them seperatley instead? So, essentially, I want to know if you guys were to buy an ST off of ebay, would you expect it to come with a monitor or not? Would you prefer if it did, or if it didn't? Also, any idea which monitors people would prefer? SC1224 or SM124/125? I want to pair the best monitors with the best systems. Myself I rather prefer the monochrome monitors for the high resolution graphics (for use with midi software), however I know that a lot of people use their ST's soley for gaming, in which case perhaps I should be sticking the color monitors with the better systems. Anyway, I would love to hear your advise. I will be putting this stuff up on ebay realtively soon, and I will be creating threads to let you guys know when this happens. I also have some other goodies like Notator with a Unitor 2, some Atari books, and a ton of disks, many of which are from a former Atari user group over here in Ottawa, Ontario. Thanks, - Peter

EDIT The Mega ST 2 has been sold, and everything else (minus the 1040) is up on ebay! Checkout this thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85868 - Peter -------------------------- Hello, I have a fairly large collection of atari computers, and i am considering selling off some of it in order to pick up a korg polysix! Here is what i have: Atari Mega STE - ABSOLUTLEY MINT! no noticeable yellowing, no case cracks, gorgeous example. 4 megs of ram, 150 megabyte harddrive, keyboard in mint shape, a really great mouse (works as well as a good pc ball mouse). comes with a lot of software pre-installed, mostly music including band in the box and dr. t's kcs v5, as well as a ton of desktop publishing software. Atari Mega ST 2 - beautiful shape! no noticeable yellowing. 2 megabyte computer, includes a manual, keyboard in wonderful shape, and a good clean mouse. Atari 1040 ST - perfect working condition, nice clean keyboard, some paint drops on the back (guess it was stored in a garage?). includes a good working mouse. Atari SM124 Monochrome monitor -- works nicely! Atari SC1224 Color monitor -- great condition! Steinberg Cubase 3.01 - includes dongle, original disks, and all original manuals! Steinberg Midex+ - mint condition midex+, offers up four additional midi outputs, two inputs, and smpte in/out. essential for working with cubase! I think this is all, though i will be getting two more monitors within the next couple of weeks. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I want to know how much people would be willing to pay for some of these computers, please post below, or e-mail me at [email protected] with offers. I will also consider ebay, but i want to try selling here first...if you'd like i can provide my 100% positive ebay feedback page. Not completley positive I actually want to sell these things...but I really need some new synth gear more than I need these computers. If the offers are good than we can make something happen. - Peter

Hello, I've got a Mega STE with a relatively large hardrive (around 150mb), and i want to transfer a lot of the data over from it to my PC through MIDI. I have midi in and out on my soundcard, so does anyone know of some software on the Atari that will allow this to happen? What is the easiest way to go about it? Thanks, - Peter

Looking to trade a 1040ST for a Drum Machine
petervh replied to petervh's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
PM sent -
Hello, I picked up an extra 1040STF today, and I cleaned it up and its working wonderfully. I am looking for an old drum machine, perhaps something like a Korg DDD-1 or an Alesis HR-16 -- or perhaps even a Roland TR-707. Wondering if anyone may be interesting in trading an old drum machine they have collecting dust for a 1040STF? Depending on what machine it is I may even be able to kick in some extra cash (specifically in regards to a TR-707). Thanks, - Peter

Hey guys, I am looking for a good backgammon game to download for my ST that can operate with a high-res monochrome monitor. If anyone can help me out, I would be most appreciative. - Peter
