    I think it's a good idea, but technicaly it would be very difficult to generate direct links to a users eBay profile page. That's because an American or English user can't viewer a German or French eBay users profile through their home countries site. So if you did want to generate a direct link you'd need to know the users nationality and the structure of that eBays profile URL. Does that make sense? I think I've confused myself now....

     

    Interesting point, I was assuming that eBay was using a global database of users accessible from any of the foreign URLs they run. For instance, I can go to [http://www.ebay.de]eBay.de[/url] and look at my account information just as I can on the US site. I was even able to login without any problems. is the reverse not true? If I create an account on the German or French site, is it not accessible to the rest of the world?

     

    If I cannot simply generate a "standard" URL to use, then I can always allow people to put the full URL in themselves.

    I can access every ebay-page around the world. There is no restriction. My thought in the beginning was only the username on ebay, such as sonnenhexer for me and not the whole URL. But many people have their own ebay-page like http://members.ebay.de/aboutme/sonnenhexer . Maybe we can use this?

    I understand what you mean, you are right. Me too don´t want to have too much business here, this is a great board.

    But sometimes it would help knowing who bids on some auctions.

    And no one MUST enter his ebay-nick, it is only a suggestion to modify the profile so that everyone CAN enter it.

    As far as I remember we had a topic a few months ago just with this question, many people wrote there with what ebay-nick they are on ebay.

    When it is in the profile, it is easier to find for someone, he/she must not search the forums for this old topic to know who is who on ebay. ;)
