New Atari Compatible Console & Controllers
8th lutz replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Namco, Activision and Taito are my guesses.. Taito did Space Invaders 5-in-1 Plug'n' Play in the past. Taito had a good show on the 2600 and had a couple of their games released on the Atari 7800. -
Lunar or Shining Force would be pretty cool. But Im into new titles...sick of ports. I your going to do a port. Do something that was say never had a home release. Or had a horrible home release that never look a thing like the arcade. My choices: Krull Arcade Tron Aecade Major Havok Arcade Speed Rumbler Arcade Mr Bubbles Arcade Aliens or AVP Aecade Robotech Beach Head II Last Ninja Any good Tower Defense Game Tempest 4000 A Gradius type game Xybots A good fighter game, Grooveybee usually don't do arcade ports and you list of arcade games isn't a help to him as a result. What he does is mostly games that are similar to existing games like Apple Snaffle is a Boulder Dash type game. PacManPlus(Bob) is the 7800 programmer that does arcade ports.

New Atari Compatible Console & Controllers
8th lutz replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It is a great project, but i wouldn't get it if has VGA. My younger brother is more update to date electronic than I said my television can't use VGA unlike his new television. The television I have isn't a new television set at all. It a tube television set that I bought in 2006 or 2007. At the time, I felt the games I have from older game systems were made for an older television set. When my younger brother had to buy a new television set, his nes games to Saturn games looked not as good on his new television set that has VGA compare to his old tube television set. I have 32 Sharp SDTV. My television set even can't use a Blu-ray player. My television is great for game systems that have av cables from older game system such as the Snes. -
Who has the lagest collection per ATARI system?
8th lutz replied to nonner242's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I am guessing Wonder007 has the largest Atari 2600 collection. I know that I don't have biggest Atari Lynx or Atari 7800 Collection on the forums. I have 38 7800 games and 17 Atari Lynx games. -
I've never played Minestorm, but come on, Pole Position II for 7800? I found that game excruciatingly mediocre, even at the time. And this is coming from somebody who had a 7800 before ever even playing NES. IMO, Pole Position II deserves derision simply for being such a lame duck choice compared to what the competition was packing in with their system (Super Mario Bros). I know it's at this point we cue the folks explaining how they never liked SMB, how it wasn't that good, etc. Well, I was never head over heels crazy about the game either, but it was damn fun at the time, and was a seminal title by any definition. I agree that Pole Position II not great, but Atari had an excuse for using it as a pack in. Atari really had limited amount of games that could do a pack in at the time. All Atari had in 1986 was games GCC finished in 1984 or got started in 1984. The Atari 7800 was supposed to be released in the United States in 1984, not 1986. That meant what ever game Atari picked as a pack in was going to be outdated in 1986 by Super Mario Bros. even if the 7800 pack in game was Food Fight.

Galaga was planned for the Atari 5200 and it a rumor mill game matter of fact. Atari planned to have Galaga as a multi platform game with it being on the 2600, 5200, and the 7800. Galaga was on Atari's Master part Number listing for the Atari 2600, 5200, and 7800. The CX part number for the 5200 rumor version of Atari 5200 is #CX5228.

Final Atari 7800 Expansion Module Box Revealed!
8th lutz replied to Dr Manhattan's topic in Atari 7800
I'm glad you are back. -
If Bob never did any programing, the Atari 7800 homebrew scene would have died after 2007 after Kenfused last 7800 game was released for a couple years at least. Bob is very talented homebrew author. I am very familiar with his work starting in 2006. There is not a bad game or bad port he created for the Atari 7800. PacManPlus was the first homebrew Atari 7800 author to creating a 7800 game with scrolling(Jr.Pac-Man) and the first homebrew author 7800 to create games that use paddles. Besides being a great programmer, he is very nice person based conversations I had with him.

nobody cares how long it takes, that`s not really the point here Curt answered you multiple times out of these forums. You done enough damage to the wonderful forums of Atariage for a week.
-
Curt, I don't care how long it takes to complete the Atari 7800 XM as long as the quality of the product is good.

Galaga was released on the Atari 7800 . There was complains about it though in the past though. Galaga was a game that at least a couple people wished I added on a poll called "What Atari 7800 games need to be redone the most". I created that poll back in December 2005.

Final Atari 7800 Expansion Module Box Revealed!
8th lutz replied to Dr Manhattan's topic in Atari 7800
I know where you come from. I question the box when I saw Arkanoid on the box. Propane 13 I know has been busy outside of programing and there is no telling if Arkanoid will be completed. The same thing happened with the Author of Froggie and I think Froggie will never get completed for the Atari 7800. I just hope that the 7800 XM box doesn't effect you in terms if you would continue to program for the Atari 7800 or the Atari 7800 XM. The 7800 homebrew scene would have died off without you around 2007 or 2008 for a couple years after B*nq was released for the Atari 7800. -
Final Atari 7800 Expansion Module Box Revealed!
8th lutz replied to Dr Manhattan's topic in Atari 7800
Technically Pac-Man Collection Pokey was the first XM game completed, but it was a hack of an existing game. Super Circus Atariage was the first Homebrew XM game completed after the Atari 7800 XM was announced. Dungeon! was announced before Super Circus Atariage was the 7800 xm, but it isn't completed yet to my knowledge. -
Does Capcom's stupidity go back to the NES days?
8th lutz replied to atari2600land's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes. The Target near me had Megaman 5 in 1994 and it wasn't in a clearance area. -
The Atariage store is outdated in terms of 7800 homebrew/hack games that are completed. Super Circus Atariage, Pac-man in 320 mode, and Meteor Shower(7800 verion of Astroblast/Astrosmash). Based on what is in the Atariage store, I have say Beef Drop(7800 version of Burgertime), B*nq (7800 version of Q*bert), Space Duel, Asteroids Deluxe, Jr. Pac-man, Super Pac-man,and Failsafe(sequel to Countermeasure). I can't comment on Worm! since I haven't played it. Wasp! is a good homebrew game to me, but it really depends on who you talk to The Atariage version Pac-man Collection is very good, but that version is now outdated for the Atari 7800 since there is a newer version of Pac-man that was completed last year or earlier this year if I recalled correctly that uses Atari 7800 XM features in terms of sound. The newer version of Pac-man Collection also has different mazes than the original Atari 7800 version of Pac-man Collection has.

I think Yie Ar Kung-Fu or Karate Champ would be the better fighting games for Atari 7800 arcade ports. I also agree with Groovy with Exploding Fist or IK+ being better options for the Atari 7800 fighting games than Street Fighter 2. The Atari 7800 XM Street Fighter 2 would be good in terms of sound, but shouldn't be the head to head fighting game to be developed for the Atari 7800. A PSX to 7800 interface would help out the gameplay out some by the amount of buttons could be used. The issues with a Street Fighter 2 port would have is missing charactors, missing levels, and missing backgrounds due to the biggest known size that a 7800 rom cartridge could be. If a Atari 7800 Street Fighter 2 arcade was made it would be worse due to the rom size the SMS version of Street Fighter 2 was. The biggest Atari 7800 rom cartridge found was 512k prototype board. The SMS version of Street Fighter 2 is 1024k rom cartridge.

What was the greatest generational leap in consoles?
8th lutz replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think it has to be the first half of the 2nd generation. I am saying that because a couple reasons. The first reason is because it is the generation that first introduced cartridges to game consoles. The 2nd reason is some of video game genre's got their start in that generation. Adventure was the first Zelda Type game on a game console. That generation also showed the importance of good sports games for a system like the Intellivision. Utopia was an inspiration for Sim City. -

Same thing here. I didn't know Astroblast can be used with a paddle since I bought it at flea market in the late 1980's.
