Some of my Master System favorites: Shinobi, Alex Kid in Shinobi World, RC Grand Prix (perhaps rare?), Alien Syndrome, Rampage, Black Belt, Space Harrier, Altered Beast, Chase HQ, Choplifter, Double Dragon (better than the NES version), Enduro Racer, Ghosts and Ghouls, Hang-On, Ninja Gaiden (not released in the US I don't think), Phantasy Star, Rastan, Outrun, Rygar, Slapshot (might be rare, was a later title), Vigilante, Wonderboy.

games you hated when you were younger but now you love
bedouin replied to jboypacman's topic in Atari 2600
Not Atari related, but I didn't really care for Shanghai and Mahjong type games as a kid; now I like them a lot. -
I browse Atari Age a few times a day on 2-3 different Macs: two PPC and one Intel; both running 10.4.6 and the latest versions of Safari. I've never had trouble. Perhaps there's something awkward about your setups, like third-party software or additions?

I don't know if it's a few seconds, but the games aren't instant-on. Perhaps because, "The games were originally meant to be loaded from tape, but were later changed to load from ROM. The game data still needed to be copied from ROM to RAM before it could be used, so less memory was available and the games loaded slower than necessary." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_Lynx

You can. Type 'format /?' and find out how. I don't have any Windows or DOS machines anymore and can't remember off hand. The thing that will potentially limit your gaming on the HX is it only shipped with 256k. It could be maxxed out to 640k with Tandy's official expansion card, and some third party manufactures allowed you to go even further.

Any other Mac users check out this newly released shooter? A demo is available here. I saw some screenshots of it on MacUpdate and as an R-Type fan, it immediately looked interesting. I downloaded the demo and eventually coughed up the $20 for the full version.

You'd be better off with a PC with EGA and an AdLib card than a Tandy 1000 if you want to experience late 80s PC gaming. I remember the sadness of getting games that had awesome 16 color EGA screenshots and then being forced into using CGA because Tandy/PC Jr. graphics were not supported.

Which model Tandy 1000? 1. Deskmate was kind of like GeOS for the c64: a desktop environment for Tandy computers, that Tandy eventually sold for any PC. I guess it's very close to Windows 1-3 in its design and feel. Some Tandy models had a basic Deskmate install already in the ROM. 2. All Tandy 1000s had MS DOS built into the ROM. Usually from 2.0-3.0. It's been a long time again. The DOS utilities (stuff like basic.com, edlin, etc. were not in the ROM). 3. I don't know it depends on which Tandy you had. If I'm familiar with the model I might remember what was on it by default. 4. DOS and Deskmate are not related to BASIC; BASIC is a programming language. DOS shipped with basic.com and later gwbasic (I think that switch happened in DOS 3.0 -- I can't remember). 5. Deskmate should have a writing program called 'write' or something to that effect. I'm not sure about your disks. I remember having DeskMate disks, DOS disks, and nothing else. "Menu" might be this little loader they executed from the autoexec.bat that would say something to the effect of, "Press F1 to load DeskMate; F2 for DOS prompt, etc." I have no idea what BASIC might be, and I think DeskMate came on more than one floppy, but again it's been a long time. To echo the previous poster's sentiments Tandy 1000's suck. I don't think it's worth putting your energy into. I owned two as a kid and despise them to this day.

It's definitely something I'd be willing to pay for -- a Lynx one as well.
-
Jaguar emulation isn't all that great either, especially on Macs.
-
Does a 2600, 7800, or Lynx emulator exist for the Gameboy Advance?
-
Do you still have your original collection from childhood?
bedouin replied to godzillajoe's topic in Atari 2600
I would sell each of my systems and buy a new one, or finally -- just buy something else. Colecovision was sold to buy a Commodore 1802 monitor. Atari 7800 was sold to buy a Master System; Master System was sold when I had a Genesis, which could play SMS games with a converter. c64 was sold to buy a PC, etc. My Genesis was sold to buy something music related, or maybe a 14.4 modem -- who knows. I don't know what I did with the money from my NES, Gameboy, or SNES. I had an Atari XE for a while too but took it back to the store. My Playstation and Dreamcast were sold to buy a Gamecube and a couple games. Really, emulation took away any desire I had to collect tons of systems and games. I want to be able to play any game I want from any time period without sifting through AV or RF cables, switches, or other 80s crap. My iPod can hold an entire music collection and I don't think it's crazy to expect all my favorite video games to be on one machine either. Right now I collect for my Atari Lynx and Jaguar -- two systems I didn't own but really wanted; plus there's no decent Jaguar emulator for Macs (or PCs either probably). I bought another c64 a few years ago that I thought of giving away but couldn't bring myself to -- too much nostalgia there. -
This is one of my favorite games. Makes me want to go out and buy a real TG16.
-
Just bought a copy off eBay. Thanks.

Emulator. No room for a 2600 and all its carts and the emulation is good enough that it's a non-issue.

Atari Jaguar and 17 games MINTY! + more!
bedouin replied to King_Salamon's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I might be interested in a few of the titles if you're willing to break it up. -
I think Star Fox was like $69 or something when it came out. After tax it came pretty close to the cost of this cable.

Home Conversion Better Than Arcade Original
bedouin replied to vdub_bobby's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I like Galaga '90 on the TG16 more than the arcade version (Galaga '89). I don't have a logical reason for it, but I just like it more. -
Except that, the packaging doesn't look all that official?
-
Can't you just make one of these yourself?
-
Eh, I'm still interested -- if no one else surfaces who will except PayPal.
-
Bump on this. Got one offer but I'd prefer to use PayPal.
-
Maybe if there was a Street Figher II one I'd care.
-
The best joystick ever made.

No, but the option would have been nice. If you're in a well-lit area the GBA is playable without an additional light. Plus with a machine of the Lynx's vintage you want to take all precautions to keep it running, or wearing out the backlight.
