Is there a way to control the artifacting color in the latest release? I was looking at Ultima III and its purple/green instead of blue/brown. Anyway to correct this?

Why no custom resolutions on the ST? (Engineering reasons?)
Goochman replied to Xebec's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
That wasnt it - you could pick almost any virtual size you wanted - 1024x768, etc... It didnt emulate mono on the color monitor. -
If you want me to test anything again let me know.

Goochman replied to Xebec's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
There was a desktop ACC that allowed you to pick 'any resolution' and it would scroll the screen with the mouse. It didnt really change the resolution if you somehow managed to connect a higher rez monitor, but it was a simple software solution to allow you to have a bigger desktop area to move around. Forgot the name of it. -
Playing Sam's Journey, would an A8 version be possible
Goochman replied to MaDDuck's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I really enjoyed Wayout and wanted to complete every level, bu ton some levels that damn mirror that took away your map was too aggressive and eventually I just gave up. -
Leonard ever explain why after getting a foothold in Europe they never advanced the hardware.................I understand you couldnt compete with Apples marketing budget, but damn you kept the same ST chassis for almost 5-6 years before improving it. The Mac went to the 68020 very quickly and onward from there............... That was prob one of Ataris bigger screwup was not investing in the platform, instead doing things like Federated, Transputer, etc.........................

I lost the IP address and file sharing credentials, could you post that one more time

Wouldnt every Jaguar be a "launch edition" since I dont think Atari ever made a 2nd order outside of the first 250k right?

I hear alot of people talk about getting MAME cabs for $200 or less, but Ive never found one in the DC area, plus add a control board. Most non=working arcade cabs for sale are $300+, usually $600. For $399 you gt a nice clean good looking cab with a working LCD. The key to me is whether or not you can utilize the 'guts' to put something else in the cab with the LCD and controls - If thats the case then getting a nice new cool looking cab w/LCD (ok a bit short) for $399 doesnt seem half bad. If someone has a lead on a $200 arcade cab in the DC area let me know

It was a couple of years ago that I made the updates. The original information was something along the lines of the Atari was a bad copy of the Apple version with wrong artifact color pictures. Atleast the pictures are better, but I have no interest in helping that wiki become better on the Atari information side. Notice the 8bit U5 information - thats all I had before we found out where the demo came from.

The "Atari" descriptions on those Wiki's was terrible - the guy that runs that site I dont think was an Atari fan and left it out of alot of pages. I updated the pictures to be more color correct and the descriptions and got grief for it. EVentually all my edits were 'credited' to the owner of the page - I stopped providing feedback after that.

Omnigamer - you make an interesting comment above about starting in 2nd gear. Please no one take this as trying to reopen the can of worms here, just curious. You say its possible to get a 5.51 if you start in 2nd gear - is that confirmed? I think its also been proven that you cant start in 2nd gear correct? I only ask cause Todd has been saying the 2nd gear start thing since before 2000. -

Rays interview reads alot like re-writing of history in his favor. He brought a retail manufacturing mindset to a gaming industry that didnt work so strictly. He gave himself the white glove treatment with private jets and executive lunch room privileges. A little bit of rigor and some marketing was all the 2600 needed to make anyone successful, so he was one lucky SOB. What did Ray miss - just about everything the video game industry was to become. HIs mention about Alcorn doing the hologram thing as a distraction was laughable - Ray didnt provide any technical leadership or direction, so there were 100's of laughable 0 potential engineering projects going on cause all Ray and his mgmt team cared about was milking the 2600. If Ray had any idea what he was doing he wouldve dropped Nolan (like he did) and either promoted someone internally with an eye to the future or found an outsider that could do that job without smoking a ton of dope. That person would pick a path and focus the company on that path, instead we have 100's of dead end prototypes that came out of a rudderless engineering department. He lays all the problems on the feet of ET which of course wasnt his baby, but the seeds of destruction had been sown with the lack of vision, 5200 debacle and loss of engineering talent under his watch. My $0.02

Doesnt make up for the lousy attitude he had and terrible performance of the emulator.

ST XFormer is junk - almost 0% chance anything runs at all or even close to normal speed.
-
Simple answer is No. Different platforms and no compatibility between the 2 cartridge wise.

Ben Heck’s Todd Roger’s Dragster 5.51 record Part2
Goochman replied to CapitanClassic's topic in Atari 2600
And the video then states that since 1700 tapes werent found that the videos didnt exist at all - they have 0 evidence to make this claim, its just there to justify their line of attack. They have no clue as to the turmoil surrounding the event made light of in that video. Slam Todd all you want, but there are other parties effected by the situation being dragged up in this video which does nothing to further the so called 'evidence'. -

The issue with the claim that video makes about tapes never existing is also false. I understand the desire to produce hitjobs against Todd, but how many of these do we need to make?
