  1. So, I hook it up to the PC via a Serial cable, download 2600 bins to it, unplug and connect to the 2600 and play games? Or does it have to stay connected to the PC?
  2. Cafeman - Id be willing to bet a 1050 and 800XL take up LESS space than that damn 5200 console When is the 800 version of Koffi coming out so I can play it on a nontempermental machine
  3. Ok, To recap for folks - What does this do that other products dont - How would Cupcakus product differ? Pros/Cons anyone - I want to buy one of these things but want the most flexibility. $150 is fine for me depending on which one offers to most back for the buck.
  4. The sticks ruin the experience.............. I got a 5200 a few years back and having grown up with the 800 it wasnt that big a deal but I was happy at the time to see what the fuss was all about. My 5200 came with a Wico stick therefore I was able to avoid some of the control problems on some games. Heres where I lost all respect for the 5200- I dont use it very often - Ive got lots of other consoles so it doesnt get fired up very often. I got Koffi and HH3D so I pulled the 5200 out. 1st problem - Seems my 5200 stick didnt work well with HH3d 2nd problem - Seems that not using a 5200 stick in awhile can make the buttons go bad SO, here I sit with a NEW REBUILT controller I bought 2 years ago that got MINIMAL use and now the start button is fussy and 2 firebuttons dont work - From a collectors standpoint the 5200 stinks. Then my 5200 started acting funny - one of the chips has prob gone bad - Im not reinvesting in another unless a good deal comes around. If you want the 5200 'expereince' without the hassles buy an 800XL w/disk drive and you can play all the 5200 games - or just the 800XL and buy the carts (almost all 5200 are avail for the XL plus Donkey Kong) My $0.02
  5. THis is a pretty good list: 1) T2k 2) Highlander 3) AvP 4) Doom (networked is awesome but can get annoying when disconnections become frequent) 5) Iron Soldier 1 & 2 6) Ultra Vortek 7) Missile Command 3d! I would add Atari Karts Battlesphere (I got one ) NBA Jam World Tour Racing Hover Strike on CD (I will get flames for this one ) Having the collection above should keep you busy for awhile
  6. Post some reviews here folks when you get them!
  7. Asteroids Laser Blast Chopper Command Pac Man Dodge Em Dig Dug Bezerk Video Pinball
  8. AtariDos is what you need to perform disk operations on the Atari computer series - similar to MS DOS on IBM's Disk copying can be as simple as loading Atari DOS and doing a Disk Copy (option J). Most commercial software had some protection which made it more difficult but most stuff was 'cracked' to have this removed. All the games you mentioned are available in unprotected form.
  9. The off switch was usually my dads favorite
  10. Play through a few rounds and tell me how simple that Red Dragon is! The simple gameplay excellent graphics somehow cast a spell that makes you want to play again - similar to Turmoil where you KNOW how easy it is but for some reason cant do as well as you think you should!
  11. Well, I enjoyed the game as well - Sure VF was prob better but for me FFL worked out ok
  12. I think the pictures in this post should have their own page - Excellent Reference chart!
  13. Raiders when it first came out was tough to figure out Solaris Defender 2 Miner 2049'er (jumping in too hard!) Space Shuttle Ive finished Raiders but the rest Im not so good at
  14. Not to get totally off topic but I havent really watched the arcade scene much lately - though I havent really seen anything 'new' in a long time - Is the arcade business going down the tubes?
  15. Floyd of the Jungle and Hellcat Ace were some of Sid early 8bit efforts. FLyod has some addictive qualities to it
  16. One of the pictures on the website shows it connected with the SVideo cable.
  17. I just got a new PC (P4 3.06 w/Hyper Threading) running XP Professional SP1 and havent any trouble with any emulator except PCAE 2.6 - All I get is that stupid (Hey Windows found a problem, send the error report to the MS Bit Bucket)? I have another XP Pro and XP Home machine that dont have a problem running PCAE, regular PIII machines............ Any thoughts? This new system has the network card on the motherboard which required some updated system drivers be loaded.
  18. Not to mention alot of stuff in the museum would be look but not touch!
  19. I missed Ripley wasting the Predator though??????????
  20. Well, He never specified what he had therefore how could folks volunteer to build something without know how they would do it. If a lvl editor existed I would gladly help, if I had to write 6502 ASM to build a lvl then I couldnt. He asked for help but provided few details on exactly what type of people were needed
  21. My box looks the same except for the white labels on the ends with the cart name - I did alphabitize mine though ;P
  22. I think youre talkin about the 'Doom' clone demo - forgot the name of it but it was cool -
  23. Many moons ago I did this under DOS 6.1 - It was a Win95 PC with a 133mhz Pentium processor. It was a standard 5 1/4 mech for the time - cheapo that I dont know the name of, sorry. Now that I have a SIO2PC cable Ill never look back
  24. I have been successful using the PC Write utility - however, it was very tricky and the best use I got was to write 1 file to the disk at a time since it required calculating offsets and such to write additional files. I was able to write 3 files to the disk at best and then my calculations were off I had an older 5 1/4 drive I did this one a few years back - Go the SIO2PC route, though it wont 'convert' a disk image to an exe for you
  25. I used a label maker to identify the game son the edges so I cant stack and locate them in my storage bins (they sell these nice 3/4 tray bins which I keep all my carts)
