Original 1984 Crystal Castles BINary image now available....
Goochman replied to Curt Vendel's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
This had to be the basis for the officially released version - there are too many similarities IMHO - even if just the graphics lifted from it the XE programmers musta had access to this???? -
It is full of special features like: Backyard DK Cart Discus throws! Locate the Cheating Fireball! CV Envy with a more accurate port! DK looks like a turd so you can help potty train your kids - show them the turd and flush the cart down the drain - what other cart has this kind of special feature (maybe ET?) and last but not least, which cart can collect more dust - ET or DK!
-
Mr Dos castle was a decent port - a bit choppy IMHO Quest for Quintana Roo is an acquired taste - I would try most of those games via emu before buying - JP II isnt avilable online though.
-
Maze Craze, Turmoil, Dragonfire, Wizard of Wor, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pitfall, Megamania I have alot more on the Atari 800 Id rather play
-
Master of the Lamps - that had a great tune it as well - Jam on it!
-
I played a few 5200 games on Atari800Win 3.1 tonight without issue under WinXP Prof
-
I LOVED this as a 2 player game way back when - there was another thread talking about the best 2 player games - this is one of them - Quick, Fast, Hyper and the thrill of victory to run into your opponents face (until they hit the reset button) Inviso mazes were the best!
-
I hit just about every key but the left shift , but now things work like I expected I think Atari800win 3.1 is the best 5200 emu as well - opinions?
-
Synapse was def the best IMHO........... Broderbund was also pretty good to the 8bit community as well. MicroProse did some good stuff early on as did Avalon Hill(crappy games though )
-
Does anyone know if Atari800win 3.1 emulates both firebuttons for the 5200? It appears to only support 1 firebutton????? Jum5200 has some big collision dectection problems so Im trying to find a good, easy to use 5200 emu to run under windows.
-
The thing I liked best about the games posted is they had a quality graphics feel to them - too often the C64 versions of games came out looking better due to folks not spending a bit of extra time with the 8bits graphics capabilities - too bad they never were finished. Shadow is very impressive with all the vents going on and the speed - then again the enemy stuff wasnt fully implemented
-
Alley Cat was really well done - add to that: MULE Ball Blazer Ultima III/IV had some nice tunes as well Alternate Reality City/Dungeon had some really good tunes!
-
Cant help with the MOD stuff - Im just a tester - Let me know when you want someone to run through the CTF map
-
Hehehehe - A bit off topic but its from the Atari 800 Ultima I release. It used a video mode different than the other 800 Ultima releases Now, Any word on the Q3 CTF Adventure maps?

Let the Jag play XBox live games (thats the online stuff right?) via broadband connection
-
As for getting the Jag to run TOS, you'll prob have more luck getting MACOs than TOS. IIRC you never saw a 68010, 68020 or 68030 ST for a long time due to TOS almost being hardwired for the hardware within and not properly done via APIs through the kernal - Anyhow, Might be a fun project if youre stranded in Siberia for a winter or two
-
Well I got a Grinch lump of coal in my Xmas stocking - While playing Koffi my 5200 seems to have taken a dump - Sound is messed up and most carts wont go past the initial Atari Logo screen............ Pokey playing havoc or just SOL?
-
Few more details: 1. I am booting from teh Driver diskette which has MyDOS on it 2. The manual tells you to run scandisk first vs fdisk to test the interface 3. I bought one of the 'special' edition carts which had everything needed for external use 4. If I turn on the HD after the XE the LED in the cart lights while the HD it spooling up then goes off I just dont know where to go/test from here! I found out my cable is setup for connecting in a certain order (blue connector to motherboard(myide cart), end of cable connector goes to 'Master drive', middle grey connector goes to secondary or 'Slave' drive) So I know I have the cable connected properly.
-
Folks, For those few who have gotten a MyIDE cart to work(simply because there are so few of them ) I have a question: I got a Rev3 MyIDE cart and am trying to connect it to my Quantum 1080AT Fireball HD. I can set the drive as a Master or Slave but for some reason the MyIDE cart doesnt recognize the drive. I get the following error with the scandisk.bas utility: The Program Only Runs Under MyDOS Interface not detected Now, Im not sure if it didnt find the MyIDE cart interface or the HD??? The LED light is not lite when I start up my 130XE - Any hints or suggestions as to whats wrong? Could the IDE cable not be hooked up correctly(ie, does it go a certain direction)?

Finally was able to play Koffi after looking at the box for 2 weeks! Well done Ron - nice game - I hope you can port this to the 800 so I can get more enjoyment out of it. My 5200 stick is going bad - and Im not sure I want to keep dumping money into this machine But back to the original point - Very fun and challenging - My 5200 will stay out of the closet a few more days while I try to get through all the levels
-
Cant remember my high score but I think I went for 4 mill on Defender - it took like 4 hrs to do.................. I dont think its a bug since the game continues to play normally no matter how high you score - I think the designers didnt want to occupy more than 2 digits for wave The TGHS is around 10 mill by Ron Corcoran - only due to amount of time played and not skill
-
I had 2 cool (IMHO) Doom2 maps I did - 1 was the staircase from hell (small, jagged and located in swamp hell - 1 misstep and you're DOOMED! The other was an 'Arena' type layout with the 'Rocket Boss' located in the middle - youre job was to run for cover anywhere you could and collect the keys while avoiding the Rockets - Kinda like a speedball type layout My levels were EVIL.......................
-
Ack, Too many people have viewd the website - can we get some more detail on the Flash Cart here for all to see!
-
Myabe have him format the disks and send them to you for copying - that way you know they came from his drive working?
