Yesola. I would be interested if it would handle 7800+2600 carts (as many as posible anyway). Without POKEY what games wouldnt work besides Ball Blazer? Im not good with a soldering iron therefore would be stuck without POKEY if it wasnt a pop out pop in type deal. Seriel interface would be fine since USB appears to be too much hassle.

Im not good at fighting games but loved PR - It is really well done on the Jag and is the best fighter type game on the platform IMHO. Load times are a bit slow but that gives you more time to rub in your win

What happens when you turn on a 600xl without a game cart?
Goochman replied to IceCold's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
So whats up with this guy: http://www.collectorscardsandgames.com/games01.htm anyone do business with him? I might buy the 5200 2port just for the sticks! -
Berzerk default game is also very easy with the amount of men you keep getting Asteroids is too easy Laser Blast as well. I think Phoenix is also not too hard I found Defender II to be a bit challenging as well as Solaris.

If you know this guys email address and he keeps sending you spam the only answer to get him to stop is maybe producing your own 'autoemailer'

If you're seeing a Red screen I would say its hooked up - sounds like something inside the 600XL isnt very happy - Try to get the self test running and see if it complains about a RAM chip or something. -
So Sheddy, any update on Space Harrier - The initial demo was awesome to say the least

Heres some more I found: http://apple2history.org/history/ah07.html http://www.cstone.net/~rbraun/misc/a2ftp.html#csa2g http://www.applefritter.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.pl (Good forum site) http://www.apple2.org/faq/FAQ.dos.prodos04.html These machines are so frustrating - simple DOS operations are a pain in the arse without specific utilities. These machines are soooo cryptic, even for the day they came out but the architecture was simple, had decent graphics and 80 column support so it did well.

Crypts of Chaos?

What ever happened to the guy that was going to make portable 2600 systems??? I think he made 2 but did they ever get out of his basement?
-
I thought Williams also used it?

In the CV case the end is a 'cap', therfore if you 'saw' nicely you can just 'cap' the new end again! The with a rotozip cut a few holes for the moved components and wala it looked great! Maybe someone can put a 5200 in a stick like the 2600 - then again you'd have to buy a new one every 2 months or so
-
How about a 5200jr - that would be a nice mod. Someone built a Coleocvision Jr by hacking off 40% of the case (the joystick holders) The biggest change was to move the mount for the PS and joystick connectors and it was the size of a gamecube. Now thats a 5200 I could love

Sku, tough question - The Atari 800 works with alot of carts but not the XE ones. The 800XL works with the XE carts but some of the earlier 800 carts wont work. The 800XL is prob the best inbetween bet to get (or the 65XE or XEGS)

I know mr SAM very well - had some fun getting 'curse' words to come out of him - The ole Antic off routine was used alot early on to save CPU cycles and do 'talking' type stuff, though it appears this prob wasnt as necessary as new techniques get around that (atleast turning the screen off )

I am by no means a technical expert on this but in terms of computer/game playing capability the Pokey was a better chip - With 4 voices, good range and excellent noise generation it had more flexibility than SID. Everything I heard on the C64 sounded like it came from a harpsicord - excellent instrument play but most other sounds/noises didnt sound right. The SID had a larger octave range (I believe) but POKEY could cover most everything that humans wanted to hear POKEY was 3 years older than SID but Arcade developers used POKEY for their stuff vs SID. If I wanted to hear synth music Id pick SID, all other things I think POKEY can do better. Sheddy, could SID/C64 handle the 'voice' you have in your Space Harrier demo?

The XEGS will be as compatible as the XL system

I purchased a 5200 specfiically for Twin Galaxies 5200 specific tournaments otherwise I wouldve neveer gotten one. Personally I would keep my 800XL for less hassle and more games. If you want all the consoles the 5200 is fine but I got working controllers but didnt use the system for awhile and now its acting flaky - $25 for 30-40 games and repair kinda stinks IMHO
-
Its not what you think it is and not a smear. Those Atari labels are very good at 'catching' stuff that rubs up against it - cleanse your dirty mind - I've had carpet stuck on mine when Ive turned it over or even when packed with other stuff. I would chalk it up to that IMHO
-
You still need a working 5200 controller with the Wico sticks (for the numeric keypad and start/reset/pause So, Can someone point us to a place for reliable rebuilt 5200 sticks? I remember one place would swap you a rebuilt one for $25 with trade in of a good condition broken one???

Anyone recommend an Apple IIe site comperable to this one fomr Atari? I was given a nice setup and am having so issues with it.
-
Another one went up for buy it now at $25 - $55 seems steep as I thought $32 brand new aint too bad - so what can I do with the trackball on the 5200 besides paly Missle Command better?
-
Is this a good price for one of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?viewi...ADME:X:ON:US:2a good price for one of these?
-
Its Encounter - I wasnt sure before but now am. The 'ball missile' bounce off the obstacles - fun game.
