  1. Read the words in the review and you can discount it immediately - AvP is not Doom, and if you think so then you'll be disappointed. AvP was GREAT when it came out and nothing really could touch it - it was a bit sluggish but made up for it in atmosphere - respawing was a bit of a pain but if you think about it those Aliens didnt stop in the movie right I also played most of the game through so the respawn didnt effect me as much - The Predator game was really fun.
  2. Hmmmmmmmm, my Paitn on Win2K does jpg's - You have to change the file type in the file selector window when you're saving your image - Not too intuitive but it should be there!
  3. Grooooooooooovy I loved this title on the 2600 - maybe a few enhancements for the 8bit
  4. One thing that may have hur tit is the ST and Amiga versions were almost spot on for sound and graphics - the 8bits never had a chance
  5. Actually I think the 8bit version isnt too bad - has all the elements and its speed is pretty decent also - Where they went wrong was only using a 3 color scheme (though deployed pretty well) Otherwise, whats your beef?
  6. Had the same problem - there should be a seperate File/Menu option to load .exe or .bins vs disk images That should be it - Use the latest version Atari800Win 3.0+
  7. Look around here, you should be able to find the 5200 BAS application which runs on your PC
  8. What was that desk accessory that allowed one to connect and download via Xmodem (remember that one ) and also do other things on the ST??? I think Flash was it?
  9. The original game does this as well - When trying to set a new TG record I had to take a 'bio break' and when I returned it was screensaver time Also, Ive had Berzerk just reset on its own when playing - Again after racking up mucho points the game would just reset Not all of them do this and it happens at different times so beware!
  10. I know the XE series of computers have these flimsy plastic keyboards that seem to get shorts in them very easily (They are mylar I think) Anyhow, If you keyboard doesnt work I would think it could be the cable, but if one of your Start buttons doesnt work then maybe the XEGS has the same keyboard issues - only fix is a new keyboard overlay
  11. I bought the original Aphsai and Curse of RA on disk and had fun with them until I saw the C64 versions - The 'Trilogy' version is 10 times better IMHO - faster and looks better - makes you not imbarresed to show your C64 friends The original brings back some good early 800 works memories when graphics and speed didnt matter
  12. Never seen that one - do the select/option/reset buttons work?
  13. PRob not - though there were some Basic->Asm translators for the 8bit most of them didnt do too well when it came to graphics stuff and usually crapped out with large basic programs (in my experiences) Once compiled to make it 5200 from junk Asm would take longer than learning 5200 Asm IMHO - Prob better off getting hte PC 5200 dev kit and starting there, or make some cool games for the XL/XE line
  14. Havent been able to find anyone to play on q3a.bosskey.net the past few days If you want help with testing the CTF map let me know Greg
  15. First you'll need to know the name of the programs on the disk - Boot up in Basic and then type: LOAD "D:FILENAME" wait for load then type RUN Thats it! You can always go to dos from basic to get a directory by typing DOS You'll need to have the BASIC cart installed prior to turning the computer on Enjoy!
  16. Good ole MS Paint can save as jpg's if that helps????
  17. Tha score is 'ok' but not good - There are folks that have maxed this one out - I think my best is around 7/8K but the masters have over 30/40K!
  18. Hmmm, I dont know what size DOS 2.5 is??? Anyone? DOS 2.5 is basically the same at 2.0 with support for Enhanced Density drives - anyone that knows 2.0 should know 2.5 right off the bat So, With this DOS cart and the info Mark provided wouldnt anyone think that it would interfere with any disk based games? Carts that were converted to Disk?
  19. I have a question about whether another DOS can be loaded in the cart or are you stuck with 2.0S? 2.5 seems like a better candidate vs 2.0S? Also, for the DOS loaded it would be nice if Verify was set OFF for disk operations and support for 4 drives was turned on by default. With DOS 2.5 and the above options it would be a handy cart for me to purchase
  20. Greg, I wasnt able to RJ out of the map on the betas but the RC1 has to gravity set lower such that RJ's take me WAY above the map (something that didnt happen before) Im just glad I can talk about this map now !
  21. I sent him a msg about Telegames offering one new for $70
  22. Got my 800 and 810 disk drive for an even $1000 (500 for each) - Got 1 game that required basic and went home - Couldnt get the game to work so from teh DOS menu I tried to 'Initialize' it - DOH! Its been love ever since - Used my 130XE for WP in College before getting an 1040ST - Got a XEP80 and hooked my girlfriend up with Word Processing for her (yes someon bought a XEP80 and used it ) This was back in the 86-92 time period when typewriters were still selling strong since any computer with printer hookup cost over $500. The XE/XEP80 combo worked pretty well since graphics and fonts werent big back then - Ah, the good ole days
  23. Yes you need to use the sewers in order to get 114,000 - There was a nice 'map' on how to do this awhile ago but I lost it (not map as in the whole system, just directions on where to go to get the treasures)

    ENDURO KING

Mark, I have to laugh - Great idea to start a challenge - Ive done them in the past. In fact Snipercade runs monthly Console of the Month contests on games like this - but 2 weeks from your last game is nothing - put up a challange on a game you've never played without practice (or havent played in a year ) Then we'll have something going!
  25. Quake III Very tasty indeed
