Havent been able to find anyone to play on q3a.bosskey.net the past few days

If you want help with testing the CTF map let me know Greg

-
First you'll need to know the name of the programs on the disk - Boot up in Basic and then type:
LOAD "D:FILENAME"
wait for load then type
RUN
Thats it!
You can always go to dos from basic to get a directory by typing DOS
You'll need to have the BASIC cart installed prior to turning the computer on
Enjoy!

Good ole MS Paint can save as jpg's if that helps????
-
Tha score is 'ok' but not good
- There are folks that have maxed this one out - I think my best is around 7/8K but the masters have over 30/40K! -
Hmmm, I dont know what size DOS 2.5 is??? Anyone?
DOS 2.5 is basically the same at 2.0 with support for Enhanced Density drives - anyone that knows 2.0 should know 2.5 right off the bat

So,
With this DOS cart and the info Mark provided wouldnt anyone think that it would interfere with any disk based games? Carts that were converted to Disk?
-
I have a question about whether another DOS can be loaded in the cart or are you stuck with 2.0S? 2.5 seems like a better candidate vs 2.0S? Also, for the DOS loaded it would be nice if Verify was set OFF for disk operations and support for 4 drives was turned on by default.
With DOS 2.5 and the above options it would be a handy cart for me to purchase

Greg,
I wasnt able to RJ out of the map on the betas but the RC1 has to gravity set lower such that RJ's take me WAY above the map (something that didnt happen before)
Im just glad I can talk about this map now

I sent him a msg about Telegames offering one new for $70

Got my 800 and 810 disk drive for an even $1000 (500 for each) - Got 1 game that required basic and went home - Couldnt get the game to work so from teh DOS menu I tried to 'Initialize' it - DOH!
Its been love ever since -
Used my 130XE for WP in College before getting an 1040ST - Got a XEP80 and hooked my girlfriend up with Word Processing for her (yes someon bought a XEP80 and used it
)This was back in the 86-92 time period when typewriters were still selling strong since any computer with printer hookup cost over $500.
The XE/XEP80 combo worked pretty well since graphics and fonts werent big back then - Ah, the good ole days

-
Yes you need to use the sewers in order to get 114,000 - There was a nice 'map' on how to do this awhile ago but I lost it (not map as in the whole system, just directions on where to go to get the treasures)
-
Mark, I have to laugh - Great idea to start a challenge - Ive done them in the past. In fact Snipercade runs monthly Console of the Month contests on games like this - but 2 weeks from your last game is nothing - put up a challange on a game you've never played without practice (or havent played in a year
) Then we'll have something going! -
Quake III
Very tasty indeed

What was on the CGE CD?

Some folks will prob tell you to get the 130XE some the 800XL. I prefer the small footprint to eh 800XL (Though I have my 130XE hooked up here at home
)Things to think about:
For cart games the 800XL works well though some carts dont tottaly fit in the slot (a little filing can help out with that). 64K is more than enough for gaming.
For disk games and things requiring more than 64K the 130XE is a good choice - It works better with most carts but has a bigger footprint and the keyboard isnt as nice.
If I was just going to play cart games and had some space limitations I would get the 800XL

Being a CTF player I have a different view - All the good maps for Q3 have atleast 2 entry/exit points to get to the flag - The flags are in a place where they can be defended but also are setup in such a way that an opponet can get out of there with it. Putting them inside the castles or in the corner of a maze makes it much easier to defend since the entry/exit points are restricted severly (esp in the castles)
Putting them on top of the castles is an interesting idea - depends on how one would get up there per say............

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Flexboy seems to have dissappeared from the conversation...................

Something to remember here is that 60fps is bascially what your TV is pumping out - A film can get away with 24fps since the delivery is on a white screen vs a digital output - Therefore a game playing less than 60fps you can see with slowdown and frame skipping
a 3-5 fps game (I like Koronis Rift also) doesnt play aw well as a 60fps-
Having said all that, I believe a 30fps game can play well on a TV based set, but under that you get slowdowns and such
I actually liked Hover Strike - But I also like Artic Fox on the ST

-
Count me a another BBSB owner - I also have a Diamond cart as well
- Most everything else is common Atari releases -
Call it Game 1.5 then with the White Castle

-
I say create the 'Game 1' map for CTF

-
I vote for the white/black castles also but we need to remeber to make sure its somewhat easy to get out - putting them inside means coverage of the doors would be easy (as a CTF fan myself) - Maybe the flags outside with ammo inside the castles

Just my $0.02

All you really need is a SIO2PC cable which you can get for under $30 - The APE Software is the best/easiest way to hook up images and manage them(SIO2PC is a DOS based utility)
I have a SIO2PC cable and it is awesome having a CD with all my fav 8bit games ready to roll!

I had a brief email conversation with the DK developer a long time ago praising how great the game was - He mentioned the work he did to try and get all the girders on the first screen but nothing would look right. He was also proud of the algorithm he used for the 'jumping' to make it appear like gravity was play during the motion and last but not least he mentioned that the released version isnt 100% in the death scene (Mario appear munched) and he fixed it but it missed the production release.
DK on the 800 is def the best home conversion during its time.

Count me in as a Play Tester if you want - Esp if your testing out the Deathmatch mode and will be running a server.
Im Q3 certified for Fraggin Dragon

This has probably been answered before

PRob not - though there were some Basic->Asm translators for the 8bit most of them didnt do too well when it came to graphics stuff and usually crapped out with large basic programs (in my experiences)
Once compiled to make it 5200 from junk Asm would take longer than learning 5200 Asm IMHO -
Prob better off getting hte PC 5200 dev kit and starting there, or make some cool games for the XL/XE line
