Wow, scrollable playfield with objects moving everywhere and multiple mazes dont impress you for a 2600 game? Hmmmmmmmm, maybe we should take a timewarp back to when this was released! Against more advanced consoles, yeah its a bit shakey but for the 2600 impressive!
-
The 'old' one is horrid - Why do you need it? I have it on disk and can convert it if someone REALLY wants it - I spoke to the guy who wrote DK for te 800 (great port!) - He told me a story where they couldnt believe the guy they gave Dig Dug to originally Thank the 5200 for the version you have today

Well, Archon I can beat without losing a piece Shamus kicks my butt up and down no matter what
-
MouskAttack was a great game! Lay that Pipe! 2 players was even better!
-
Before I joined the TG crew I had fun challenging Ron with alot of 2600 titles - Gorf, Carnival and Dig Dug were our battle grounds (I lost all of them - damn you Ron!!!! ) Then again, 3 hours of Gorf and you feel like you beat it no matter what someone else got! Then we got into 7800 and 5200 challenges as well Tis very fun! Dont forgot the poor old Colecovision!

Ok Te.MOD is a .com file - how do I get it to run in AtariWin800?
-
Need to use the Joystick - First need to buy a ship/food/men Board your ship and then find the new world Explore - I think using your stick button will bring up a menu for you. Find gold - Convert the Natives (or make them pay )
-
Remember the goal of the game was to bring back riches to the motherland while at the same time converting the natives - Its best to barter with the chief to get gold, but if you run into him you'll kill him. Finding settlements is tough at first - travel the rivers since it is faster I wasted many an hour on this game (almost as much as Ultima )

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh boy, here we go again!

What if the 1090 had been released?
Goochman replied to tyranthraxus's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Look how long it took folks to use 64K in the 8bit series after 1200XL/800XL came out. No one woulda done much with the 1090 - After the ST came out (and the software market was pretty much dried up for the 8bits) no one would've dumped the $$$ into the 1090 - Atari would've lost money putting all the units together for shipping. Def a cool item that would've help us diehards later on (adding HDs, CDROMs, IBM emu , etc....), but at the time not much woulda be done IMHO. -
Wow, I took a brief look at the contest awhile back and figured I didnt have time to do it - Now after reading the solution I know I would've never figured it out! Very well done!

Barnstorming - Game #1 - 32.04 - What the...?!?!!
Goochman replied to Jeffy Arensmeyer's topic in Atari 2600
FretWobbler, You opened up a whole nest issues with the 'save states' on emus. I was lucky the emu author for Virtual Colecovision created a modified version for me that removed all save states and 'cheats'. That is the only emu I support as a TG Ref (Though I will accept MESS until they get the cheat option working on the Colecovision version) Save states are not good things for High Score tracking............... -
The 5200 had 32K cart addressing therefore could potentially run games that couldnt work on a standard 16K 400 - 98% the same but a few differences.
-
Doesnt Miner 2049'er require 48K? Running on a 5200 doesnt equate to running on a 400 since the memory structure on the 5200 was different.

Barnstorming - Game #1 - 32.04 - What the...?!?!!
Goochman replied to Jeffy Arensmeyer's topic in Atari 2600
To deny the conspircy theorists any fuel I can personally vouch that last year Todd played most of his games on my 2600jr I brought and the Barnstorming cart was someon elses (not Rons, Todds or mine) We had people coming up all the time dropping off carts to play In fact it was Todd Rogers Dragster cart that I beat him on - Ok, it was like 150 races Todd won and 1 I won, but I dont remember the previous races Todd has a strategy to the game and not a 'trick' mentioned above. It is funny though once you see it - Then again, he also had a track through the birds I've never seen before which provided for less movement - something Ive never seen other players do. -
Awesome! The Stand alone palyer worked great for me. The music from Drol is one of the best! AR the Dungeon needs to be converted that is great also! hmmm, Gotta check to see if all the Ultima Tunes are in there

Remember there is no TG without gamers , so the thanks goes out to everyone who's played and submitted a score to us! For those that havent, well, what are you waiting for! I wouldn't start with Barnstorming though -
There has been some work on a conversion of Space Harrier and Time Pilot for the 8bits - The Space Harrier conversion looks/sounds great!

I loved Shamus back in the day but was never able to finish it - Anyone interested in a Shamus contest for a $50 prize for the first person to provide video tape proof of completing Shamus on the 2nd difficulty level? Anyone have video tape proof from back in the 80s when they played it?

Barnstorming - Game #1 - 32.04 - What the...?!?!!
Goochman replied to Jeffy Arensmeyer's topic in Atari 2600
Folks, I hope you have confidence in the TG system and see how it works. We have inherited alot of scores from the 80's which may have not been as scrutinized as much as they should (or in some cases the proof was from a typo). We also have had scores loaded in by temps from previous lists which also may have some errors. What can be done? You and other gamers who have alot of knowledge on games can review whats in the scoreboard and ask the referees to review the scores which seem questionable. Alot of scores have been perged from the database in the last year due to questions of authenticity. Issues like this Barnstorming score can be corrected once a full review has been completed and with the amount of scores in the database its tough to review each and every one. Thanks for the input from eveyone and dont forget the lonely Colecovision the next time you play - Hell, put the 2600 adaptor in it -

Barnstorming - Game #1 - 32.04 - What the...?!?!!

FirebrandX- Question on your math - You indicate that 31.998 is the time possible when going in a straight path - There is a Barnstorming hack that lets you fly in a straight line with no windmill impediments and I think the best anyone has done is 32.07 - so is there something wrong with your math here? There are calculations in the game to slow you down going up and down - did your calculations take that into account? What Im afraid is happening here is folks are changing the game (removing elements) and coming up with 'best times'. What impact on the 'clock' are these changes having? How is the timer actually being calculated? Im no 2600 genius but I dont think it has a bulit in timer and is probably impacted by elements on the screen with the refresh? Anyone wish to tackle this one? -

One last comment from my peanut gallery When you hear of Todds 'strategy' you will kick yourself not having thought of it before (I know I did when he showed me)! -

Checkout the TG website. There was a big listing of articles on Todd posted late last year and may still be there. Also check out Todd's site at: www.beatthechamp.com -
Hey Jon, How about submitting some Colecovision scores for me
