Unfort I cant remember who did mine, but I got my XF551 mech replaced with a 720K 5 1/4 Floppy and 3 1/2 combo mech with a toggle switch to choose which drive - really nice, though it doesnt have an exact color match. Does Steven Tucker of APE fame do this???

If I recall correctly, the biggest thing hampering the ST's progress was TOS - It was quickly put together to launch the ST and was 68000 bound. Getting it to work on anything more advanced took alot of time and Atari couldn't fix it fast enough for the Mega's - I belive this is also what crippled to Blitter in the Mega's also. The Amiga OS was more mature and able to handle 68010, 68020's without a hitch. I was an early ST owner and enjoyed the machine(and got alot of use out of it). The 'Mac Plus' at the time was no where near as powerful and x86 machines were just getting EGA/VGA capabilites for twice the price. As for the original thread the 8bits were on the way out before Tramiel took over IMHO. The software market was drying up as companies such as EA claimed the Atari market was rampant with pirates (and the C64 scene wasnt!) I also seem to recall the pirated copies of Lucasfilm games were stolen off of Lucasfilms mainframes and not Ataris though I could be mistaken.

It was made by Roklon - Journey to the Planets I think it was, though they made atleast 2 if not 3 games based upon the same character. Fun game - very challenging at later levels.

Well, Once you find the 'key' you can find the solution here: http://www.crestviewfl.com/~richard/atari-docs.htm

Being a huge 8bit and ST fan this was a tough question to answer, but my basement answered it for me - I have my 8bit setup and my ST boxed up. For some reason I feel the 8bits provided more cerativity in the games vs the 16bit machines. Almost like the 16bit machines were graphically better versions of 8bit titles for awhile (though gameplay wasnt). I have a few ST titles I really liked, but for some reason the 8bit always keeps me coming back

I think the BBSB crack for the 8bit only works withs 800XL emulation (due to the memory hacks done for it). I got an original cart for $70 - And no its not for sale unless you have a late model Boxster you want to part with

Dont forget the Berzerk guy, Crazy Climber Guy, Pac Man? You'd prob find a ton of them

I always wanted Impossible Mission for the Atari 800 series Im not a huge fan but when my neighbor got it on his C64 and I didnt get on the 800 I was PO'd! There were also some arcade translations that were released on the C64 by Atarisoft and not on the 800, but I cant remember them now (Defender II/Stargate was one of them, though I got a copy of the unreleased version for the 800 later) -
To save you a bit of a hassle here, I went through trying to get a nice cassette for my XE so I could play alot of games I hadnt tried yet. It appears that the cassette stuff is very unreliable. I had to go through 2 1010's just to get one to work, then most of the cassette games I acquired were bad due to bit rot . Hope your luck is better than mine.

I used to think Spiderman on the 2600 was unbeatable and had great reply value. Then during a Twin Galaxies 2600 Decathon I figured out the pattern. 3 hrs later, 110K and 6 men still left I finally ran out of Spidey Juice. Havent touched it in 2 years Still a good game if you havent mastered it

Well I was one of the lucky folks to get Berzerk early due to the Atari Club (or whatever that magazine was called ). It was great. Looked just like the arcade and had decent sounds. Everyone I knew wanted to borrow the cart since I was the only one to have it. It was also great to finally get an Arcade port that looked like the Arcade - Esp since the Colecovision had just come out with Donkey Kong around that time! Play game 9 diff A and see if you can last 3 hours I would agree that Berzerk should go down as one of the better Arcade translations for the 2600.

MULE is prob one of the best known 4 player games on the 800 - it was great. I think Asteroids also had some kind of 4 player capability also?

Ok, heres the unusal thing: This is a direct screen capture of my Ultima II Legends of Time 'View'. I loved this game so much I couldnt wait for Ultima III to come out so I wasted my time creating ships (if you played this game you know what I mean). Anyhow, my initial goal was to be able to walk around all time zones without a ship (get to all islands etc...) Well, Ultima III took a little longer than expected and I filled in the entire Ocean with ships in the Legends of time(Thats why the water is all white). I then thought it would be neat to fill in the land with something (planes, horses, etc...) The bottom of the screen looks weird since its filled in with horses(and some planes). This got way too tedious and I stopped doing this. While waiting for Ultima IV I filled in the land in Ultima III with chests(to avoid all those nasty monster encounters) Ultima IV took too long to finish so I didnt do anything there! Gunstar is correct about 1 thing - I did cutout the 'stats' line near the bottom since when the screen was squeezed you couldnt read them

Emulating other systems on Atari ST
Goochman replied to Noble Kale's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
The 8bit emulation was done by Darek M at emulators.com - like his PC emulator it wasn't very compatible with most 8bit software, it also was very slow. I dont believe Sprite collision was ever put into it either........Though I believe Donkey Kong did work since it doesnt use sprites. Not worth trying on your ST IMHO -
Wow, I stay away for 2 days and got some responses The person who said it is the Legend of Times in Ultima II is correct. It is a 'View' of the island(The circle). If you've played this game then you prob should realize that something isnt right........... Wheres the water?

Wow, Not even 1 guess on my Trivia question! I figured someone should know what game the screen came from, though the 'unusual' part would only be known by someone who actively played this series(hint).

Alternate Reality the Dungeon used the extra memory (pretty much sucked playing it without extra memory) Great Game!

Why werent other Atari 8bit games put together like this. Digitized sound - I thought I was playing the ST version (almost ). This is great stuff! I love SH also 2 BIG thumbs up!

Ok, Can anyone tell me what game(could be of any genre-action-arcade-rpg-learning) my Avater picture came from and what is unusal about it?

Look for AtarinWin800 3.0 - it is great!

That list was from 1993 - but it should provide a means to try and locate one of those cards. I'd like a VGA hookup for my Mega 2 also. I guess I shouldnt mention the Networking cartridge I got in my Mega 2 to allow ftp from my windoze PC's
