    Pitfall! Map

Forget the map, just follow these instructions for a Perfect game (easier said than done!) THE PATTERN The best way to start is to reconfirm the pattern used, for reference purposes...which always heads to the right unless noted... 1st - Start by heading right to the 1st treasure 2nd - next ladder down, then up to 2nd treasure 3rd - head back LEFT, then down and to the right past three (3) scorpions, and up the next ladder 4th - keep heading right until you pick up the 14th treasure...score should be 51,000 if you're at "perfect" 5th - head back LEFT, then down and to the right past seven (7) scorpions, and up the next ladder 6th - keep heading right until you pick up the 25th treasure...score should be 87,000 if you're at "perfect" 7th - continue heading right and take the next ladder down, and head right past one (1) scorpion, then up ladder 8th - continue heading right until you pick up the 30th treasure, with a score of 107,000 if you're at "perfect" 9th - continue heading right and take next ladder down. Go past a few scorpions, head up and to the right until you get the 31st treasure...112K if "perfect" 10th - head LEFT and take next ladder down, then head right past 3 or 4 scorpions and take ladder up. Head right and treasure is less than 3 screens away *************************************************** THE SECRET Extra details removed for you to find out
  2. I looked long and hard at this for awhile with no real luck . I got an ST Networking interface so I could move stuff between my ST/PC via FTP. Drive sharing isnt supported . I believe you can get an interface cable for a Zip drive which would give you some kind of interface with your PC. Someone in Germany sells it (where else for cool ST stuff!)
  3. I had an AT-Speed board in my Mega 2. It worked ok. Graphic apps were slow and I believe Hercules mono was supported(and CGA)??? Text apps worked pretty good. I used Work Perfect 5.1 for DOS on it at the time and was happy with it. I also used a Desktop Publisher program but it was slowwwwwwwwwwww If you ahve text apps you want to run that are 286 compat it will do the trick!

    MESS Bites

Colecovision emulation is pretty good via MESS also. Took awhile for me to get teh directories setup, but after that things went ok. MESS sometimes has a mind of its own when trying to find those pesky ROM files!
  5. D2K has 2 play modes - run for your life until you get the killer powerup and get the killer powerpup and kill everything in site. I did just what you mentioned and got pretty far into the game, but also played via Radar and not usiing the screen Sounda and visuals are great, but eye candy doesnt make the game great. Note, I never said it was bad, just not a great Jag game.
  6. Well, I can pass judgement with no problems of retribution D2K plays too fast and the sprites too big to make it a truly fun game. Classic and Plus mode are more fun IMHO. 2K mode just isnt balanced enough for a good gamer to develop skills to play the game. Alot of luck in involved. Maybe with a better controller D2K would shine, but in its delivered form is not a classic. Tempest 2K is great though. Good balance and gameplay.
  7. The soundcard in the 7800 is unfort the same as the one in the 2600 to maintain compatibilty. I believe there are 2 sound voices available (hence the crappy sound on alot of 7800 titles). Some of the Lucas Arts games put a POKEY chip (Atari 800 sound chip) in the cartidge to get better sound, but this was an expensive add on. As for sprite info I dont know that, only that the 7800 could generate and manage ALOT of sprites.
  8. The Network card is a 'Parallel' adaptor card that connects to the ST's cartidge port. I was getting about 1 mbps during my transfers which was ok for me. The biggest problem I had was the software was designed for TOS 2.x and I only had 1.4 in my Mega 2
  9. Dave Small - what a small world indeed (pun intended). I bought your products just so I could get your newsletters. They were great as were your products. I was able to scratch out a B in my tech writing class in college showing the cost benefits of the Atari w/Spectre and AT Speed vs buying seperate Mac and PC Clones for the PC lab - thanks ! Sorry to hear of your trials and tribulations. Good luck on your future endevors and please stop by to write.
  10. Anyone else out there have their ST hooked up to their Windows network? I got this Parallel Port network card from a guy in Germany that allowed me access to my Mega2 via ftp - finally an easy way to back up my ST hard drive which only starts on every 3rd tuesday on months without a full moon , ie its going bad real fast!

    Ji II

Well, I own BS and it is 'ok'. If you dont have 3 friends with Jags over it really hasn't grabbed my attention. For collectors value yes Im keeping it , but I wouldnt go head over heels for it just yet.
  12. If you're looking for someone to help get you started with 8bit stuff, check with Holmes: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/atari/ Unfort, he had to take his site down to remove some games and hasn't come back up yet (hes very busy), but he put out a CD filled with 8bit stuff awhile back.
  13. There are to omany to list. These games took away alot of my time: Ultima IV Alternate Reality The City and Dungeon Getaway Ultima III Ultima II MULE Miner 2049'er Star Raiders Ball Blazer Rescue on Fractulus and the list could go on forever
