  1. Well its $1000 right now - its still got 3 days to go I agree its a great complete starter bundle for the winning bidder.
  2. Someone smarter will answer this officially, but as I recall the 400 was supposed to be a games console - no keyboard. As things progressed the 400 became a cost reduced 800 computer. This was before anyone had done this (VIC-20 didnt exist), so if you couldnt afford the Caddy of computers 800, the 400 got you in the door to play games which was its intended target.
  3. Wish they had the Asteroids one in the Countercade footprint. The partycade is just too straight and I really wouldnt want to mount it on a wall.
  4. Supergun - it def is a fine line, almost like the Pete Rose and Baseball confrontation. Ive sat down and played Dragster and Barnstorming with Todd and he can post excellent scores cold with almost no practice. It was at a CGE and by the end of the weekend Im pretty sure he got below 6 seconds, or very close to it. Barnstorming he didnt play as much but I couldnt beat his time during the event. He is very skilled at alot of the 2600 titles, but its tough to accept any score from any player where a number of anomalies have been discovered. Kinda like the * next to Barry Bonds home run record
  5. Todd actually has a better case than Billy. There is no video to disprove his claim. He has Activision documentation that stated he achieved the score that was posted for Dragster. The computer run which proves its impossible I dont think will come into play as theres no way to verify what version Todd played and counter the fact that Activision published his scores as certified. Not trying to start any arguement/discussion - I think Todd's would be more interesting to see how it proceeds. Billy I dont think has a chance.
  6. Right now you still cant buy a new one and who knows, maybe some GD owners have 2 Jags
  7. $225 shipped in the US - first come first served
  8. The better thing is the player and monsters are graphics with some animations. I think there is a better save mechanism also - I seem to remember the Atari not being as good in terms of save and restore. I agree with the "control" aspect. Alot of 8bit versions seem tighter
  9. That came out great. I first played this on my friends C64 and thought it looked good and was fun to play. A few months later I got it on the Atari and lets just say it was a disappointment..........
  10. This game is being ported to the Jag and I believe ST - the C64 version looks and plays really well. Curious if anyone thinks this could be ported to the 8bit look/play/feel the same as the C64 version?
  11. Maybe source an ebay link or 2 with as good or better deal and indicate you decided to go that route.
  12. I typed this in also - anyone know of the disk that has this basic demo?
  13. All the sounds in Salmon run Drol MULE Start of Archon
  14. 8bit Id go with the C64, 800XL or 130XE as second choice 16bit go with the STe. The ST is drop dead simple to operate and cheap and easy to add Mac and IBM emulation. Has a great selection of games and productivity software. Only drawback is getting a cable to connect to a VGA or LCD screen.
  15. Ultima II needs 1 more vote to qualify and Midi Maze a few more. Would be great if someone could give U2 its final vote to make the list
  16. You are just the person to make things right on 8bit WoW
  17. Actually my biggest and only beef are the blue dragons - they look terrible on the 8bit port. The 2600 port looks more faithful to the arcade monsters. Other than that it plays and sounds great. I played it a ton on my 800 BITD
  18. Its a good port, but def a candidate to enhance the graphics to be closer to the arcade.
  19. Ultima II plays more like an Adventure than RPG. Things arent too deep, but you only need to control 1 character vs the multiple in 3/4. You have to interview a bunch of people in 2 to figure stuff out, however you just need to talk to those who "dont move" Flying in Space is a nice twist
  20. After all the work you forced me to download and run this file
  21. Dog Daze was excellent - also the 'Gunslinger" game from the same author. Apple Panic I could do without - controls were frustrating
  22. Ultima I was not a very good game - atleast IMHO. Very unbalanced and quirky. Ultima II I love as its the fastest Ultima to play. Many dont like it due to having airplanes and rockets and dungeons that are useless but I find it fun to play. Lords of Conquest is an underrated game - esp for those that like Risk
