Well, this thread is dissapointing. I fully expected to see a Fast Food cart fried to a golden crisp in some nice fluffy buttermilk batter.
BLASPHEMY!!!!!!

... because when I want to have fun I just have to turn it on and get instant action. That's what she said!

There are many things a man can do, but one thing he can't do, is undo a bad decision. If you open it, it'll be just another open-box item. Right now, it holds a rare place... don't take it from that. It can be forever perfect..... or just another in the hoard.
I say don't open it.... you could end up regretting it, and there's no resealing it.

That's it!! It had a cassette tape that was constantly saying funny shit.... "Dispatch, blah blah blah..."
I can't remember any of the sayings, but I will never forget that "Dispatch", cuz it always sounded urgent.

Very cool topic
Back in the day....
Lunar Lander
I own one of those.
It's in pretty good condition, but needs a potentiometer(nonstandard, of course)....and the coin door repaired. Otherwise, fully functional.A few I remember:
Zookeeper
Thief(or Stop Theif, can't remember)

Thanks! That was the 4th tattoo I've gotten from that artist. His name is Jim Craig, and he's based at Mr. B's Tattoo's on US 1 just north of Baltimore City. I really like his work, and he loves seeing me come in, cuz I always have something where he gets to do something original. I think most artists prefer that, alot more than just pulling a stock picture out and doing the same thing over and over.
Funny thing is, kids will walk up and ask me about it, because it's something they easily recognize. I hope I'm not giving child predators ideas...........

I smell a hack cumming.
If it happens, I want #3!

Funny you should mention that. I have begun work on a leg piece that will be all video game related. Right now, there's only Yoshi reaching for a 1-Up mushroom, but I have lots planned for it. Including an Atari logo near the upper calf, a Commodore C= somewhere up there as well, Pac-Man, Berzerk... all kinds of stuff going to be in there.
Here's what I have so far:

-
I think that depends on where you were located... I remember grabbing a couple of "release day" titles for $30-$35. Or maybe some stores had a sale on the first day, although, I can't really see that.... because a title will sell fast on the day it hits the streets, no matter what.

Put me down for one. I'm in the USA, and would prefer a box and tracking #.

Ye olde Odyssey Game Center. My best friend's parents owned the place, and I practically lived there for a couple of years. One night, some fuck broke in, and burned the place down. The owners son and I were going to crash there that night and get up early for some pre-opening gaming. Broke my heart when that place went up. I found this mint-condition t-shirt the other day. I have about 5-6 more of them, but they've been worn out.
There were other places, but none we like "home", like that place was. The pizza shop across the parking lot(Loppo's) went under a few years later(I mention it, because that was my secondary hangout), and I always had a blast in there with their games.
We had a local Time-Out as well, at Golden Ring Mall..... but it wasn't as cool because half of the machines were down for repair. Plus the staff there were assholes.

I played about 30 minutes of Carnival this week, and racked up a new personal high score.

I have an authentic(!) Berzerk t-shirt from back in the day. I about wore out the Pac-Man shirt I had, but I treasured that Berzerk shirt. Had a guy at school write in my yearbook that he wanted that shirt in the worst way.
I'll have to find it, and take pictures.
Don't worry, I'm not dilusional enough to try and wear it. I wish I could, but it's about 1/2 the size it would take to cover me now.

Ooo, yeah, I'd like to see a picture of that! Berzerk's one of my favorite games.
You not only grow up, but out as well.

Oh..and there's no target within 100 miles of me. Sad for me. Sigh...

Still can't find that Berzerk shirt, and it's driving me.... well, Berzerk.
However, I did find these:

The Pac-Man shirt is actually one of a pair of them. I took a picture of both, but this one is in much better condition than the other. I also found my Pac-Man bedroom set(Yeah.... I said it.....), but I haven't taken pics of that yet.

Thanks for the info, dude! I know that Al sells stuff through the store to help pay for this site that we all use, so I prefer to buy an available title here. If Super Pac Man is going to be available here in a month or so, I can wait. If not, then why wait? Either way, you've been paid... so that is out of the way. Just wanted to make sure these weren't unauthorized repros.

Thanks HammR25.... I just saw that link in another post about SI. As long as those carts are legit, I'll order one. Meaning that if PacManPlus isn't getting ripped off by someone jacking his code....
I was kinda hoping he'd do a limited run for sale on here... but I'll take what I can get.

I disagree with several of the grades they have for ColecoVision games:Beamrider was given a C and should be a B
Carnival given a B+ and should be an A+
Gyruss given a C should be a B
Ladybug B- should be an A+
Mouse Trap was given a B - are you kidding me? Easily an A+
Omega Race is a B- and should be an A
Bump Pepper II from an A- to A+
Tapper D- is a "WTF" grade. Should be a B
Venture a C-? Should be an A
They are also missing some key CV games like Spy Hunter, Mr. Do and Bump N Jump. They could also stand to add more home brews to the list.
I know this is a 2600 post, but I just want to illustrate that some of their grades are kind of out there.
I disagree with your A+ for Carnival. If it had the "Bear" stage, I'd agree... but for lacking that, I'd give it an A-.
Edit: Disregard.... I missed the part of your post specifying "Colecovision". Sorry.

Oh, and I just got the Speech Enhanced Berzerk from the AA store...... Dude.... seriously.... it's worth buying, just to watch the look on peoples faces when you tell them an Atari 2600 game has speech in it. You can win lots of beer money betting on it.

But doesn't that require plugging in an addon? If you'd bet with me and it turned out you use an add-on, I'd feel cheated and declare the bet nullified.
Maybe you should also bet with people whether the Sega Genesis would read CDs.

I don't know if the Genesis will read normal CDs.... But here's a video to answer your question:

Edit: I forgot to mention the battery connector hack I did on that 2600, but internally, it's stock. All you need is the cart. If there is an add-on, it's in the cart and thus comes with the cart.

Edit2: Here's a video of Beef Drop also:

The year, was 1979.... I had been given a Telstar Ranger that had 6 games built in. I still have it, and yes, it still works. We were getting ready to move from Baltimore City, out to the county. Going through one of the closets in the garage, was a brand new factory sealed Atari 2600. It had been bought earlier that year at I believe Monkey Wards(lol)... and my grandmother had put it there, intending to return it for something else. I begged and pleaded and promiced and cagolled and all kinds of shit to keep that thing. We were moving in November of that year, and I was told I could have it AFTER we moved.
I still have memories of walking into a little hole-in-the-wall game store on Belair Rd(US 1, for those keeping score)... with $35.00... and walking out with a brand spanking new copy of Defender. I also remember being somewhat disappointed with it at the time(I was very used to Stargate in the arcade). I also remember getting Donkey Kong for X-Mas(and finding it a month prior the same way an earlier poster did... and I opened/re-glued the bottom of the box, so as not to be obvious about it).
I still have my original 2600. It still works, and I still use it. I have all but one of my original games for it(Frogs and Flies vanished somewhere along the line, along with all of the boxes I had stored.

Has this one gone to Cart yet? Box or no box, I'd love to get my hands on a copy of Super Pac-Man for the 7800.
Yeah, I'm one of those who uses real hardware only.... no emulators.
-
I don't know if there is an order list for this one, but if there is, can I please has been added to it?
I love Frogger, and a 7800 version would be BADASS! Especially from the reviews I've read so far.
-
Ok, first we need to know WHICH 2600 you have. Then we can get you to open it up, and probably replace the a/v wire(I'm thinking that may be the culprit).... which is really easy to do.
If I'm right, and it IS the cable.... go buy a standard RCA connector'd cable(preferably with the gold contacts), get whatever length you feel works, and just replace it from the same place it comes out of. It really IS easy to do. If the connector itself is loose, a little carefull soldering will be in order, but if you have any experience at that... it should take you maybe 5-10 minutes.
-
The above post is 100% true.
I have several of them left over from back in the day, and they all still work. Although, have your friend(and yourself) try Beef Drop for the 7800 if you want some REAL Burgertime action!! Oh, and I just got the Speech Enhanced Berzerk from the AA store...... Dude.... seriously.... it's worth buying, just to watch the look on peoples faces when you tell them an Atari 2600 game has speech in it. You can win lots of beer money betting on it.

Why would you alter a 4 way stick thats used with games that don't need diagonal control, to a 8 way stick? Seems like it would just make the control even more frusturating. If you want to retire it and own a Xbox 360, and recent Namco Museum release has all the games from that Super Pac-Man stick, including Pac and Pal and Super Pac-Man.
I really don't like the controllers of the newer consoles, TBH. The newest console I have in an N-64, and while I have the Namco Museum for it, I don't like how the controllers work for that cart. As for modding the Super Pac-Man stick, I still haven't gotten around to it, but the reason is because I'd like the ease of moving from one direction to another, rather than moving it from, say, up to nuetral to left. Or another similar combination. It seems to stick(especially when you are Super Pac-Man in high-speed mode) when making those 90 degree turns. While it's true you don't move diagonally, it's nice to be able to smoothly move the stick from one direction to another like you could in the arcade.

Nice review, and informative.
What equiptment/software did you use to record and edit that?
