    What's with all the hostility? :ponder:

     

    I keep mine(the whole Atari set-up... includes 2600, 5200, 7800, TV, DVD player, C= 128 and it's accessories) plugged into a power strip. I'm not really worried about a lightning hit, since storms that intense don't hit here that often. If it gets nasty, my grandmother knows what to unplug for me. And trust me, if I'm not home, she is.

    You want to hear something that's degrading?

     

    I have a guy who is on coinball who works at CEC. He's a main arcade tech.

     

    To keep their competition from getting their games, they DESTROY them.

     

    They don't even sell them to personal collections, as due to fear to going into the mainstream.

     

    I about cried when I went there 2 weeks earlier to play a TMNT arcade machine, then last week, it was gone.

     

    I was quite... sad. The good news is that the guy knew about how awesome the game was, and got everyone to play one final farewell game before destruction.

     

    Gimme that address.... I'll go use a sledge-hammer on the asshole trying to use one on an arcade cab!

    To answer both questions, I would say yes to actual arcade game scores, since the ROMs are the same. As for plug-n-play games, I'm not sure. I guess if they are the same ROMs, I guess that would be fine.

     

    Does the Jakks P-N-P games use the same ROM as their arcade counterpart? These are all the questions I'll need to find answers for. :)

     

    No clue if they use the same ROM images.... which is why I suggested having a separate HSC for those. Plus, there isn't a very large library of games available for them. Except for April and May, I could moderate a section for the PnP HSC.

    That's funny, I've had problems with all of my sticks EXCEPT the Ms. Pac-Man stick(I have the gamekey version). In fact, it's really the only one I can play anymore. The Super Pac-Man stick needs some serious maintenance... and so does my gen1 Pac-Man stick. I'm glad I bought the game key version, as it has most of the other games except ones on the Super Pac-Man stick. I'll have to work on that one, though..... because I like the games on it. I'm also going to alter it(if possible) to an 8-way, rather than 4-way. I'm hoping that will be easy.

    I was wondering if somebody was going to bring up this commercial on the forums! I was watching the Jets game in between dozing off and on on the couch. According to my wife, I was sound asleep when I awoke suddenly to the Atari/Lexus commercial, yelling about the Atari in it! :D When I'm sleeping, nothing can get my attention, but I guess I'm programmed to wake up for old game sounds. I've been in this hobby for too long...

     

    Great commercial, BTW!

    lol. I was watching the same game when I saw this commercial for the first time.

     

    Ohhhh yeah. The feeling of getting the best gift ever for Christmas, especially an Atari 2600. Never got the Atari for Christmas *sniff* but I dreamed of it many times.

     

    I didn't notice the 6 to 4 switch change-up. My thoughts were "Wow, they got a heavy sixer for the commercial. Someone knows their stuff!" But then he was playing Centipede, so then I thought, "No way, Centipede wasn't released yet."

     

    I frankly choose to believe that man in the commercial realized/or-will-realize that ultimately the Atari was the best gift.

     

    Wait.... that was a HEAVY sixer?!

    Didn't look like one when I saw it.... can we get a photo to prove that?

    Shame someone took such bad care of that game.

     

    Best thing I can suggest, is to give it a really good cleaning. Check to make sure that all chips are seated properly, and secure any loose wiring.

     

    Wish I could find one of those.... I love that game.

    I am done with Ebay as well :thumbsdown: I like your english fish! F****** piece of S*** How do you translate that into German please? More and more Ebay pisses me off. I am not even going to start or I could go on a major rant. I have been having success buying on CTCW and here on AA; great people I have bought from; have yet to sell, but may in the near future.     Even without demanding payment for it, I required DC. More to protect myself than the buyer. It might chip a couple of $$ from your price, but it's worth it.

     

    You know, with every passing day, I am less and less inclined to use EPay.

     

    Which isn't good, because I am now looking to unload a bunch of stuff.... and that can/should get the most exposure.

    Ok... to throw some perspective into all this:

     

    I love my 2600, and I always will. Timeline wise, my next system was my Commodore64... although I did have a Telstar Ranger back then somewhere. I still play my 2600 games, and I will continue to update my collection as I find games that are fun to play. Some of which I have recently aquired. With the C=64, I have MANY games from back then that I still appreciate. The same goes with my first Amiga500(back in 1990). I bought an NES for Gauntlet, which I found rediculously disapointing. I got Gauntlet II for the Amiga, and it pleased me immensely. I had lots of kick ass games for the Amiga, many of which I played on my 3000. They played better because of the updated processing power.

     

    After that, I got into PC games, because of the capability to have multiplayers online. The N64 was a nice console, and provided me with some entertainment, but not the same as a PC.

     

    Once I got into the PC scene, Half Life, Team Fortress Classic, and games based on that engine, combined with those on the Command and Conquer engine, were my favorited.

     

    I still play modern 1st person shoot'em ups..... but I will equally play Circus Atari. Why? Because of the FUN factor!

     

    I have a collection of PnP's, because they are FUN! No matter what, FUN is what gaming is all about.

    Does anyone else think that if Namco partners with Atari, there goes the store for this site (permanently) and possibly the site itself? I don't think they will let ROMS float around and the sale of hacks/repros/ etc... ?

    I would hope not. It's 2008. You don't push around people online who you have previously left alone when you're trying to rebound. The last thing they need is bad press just as they're turning the corner.

     

    By the way, if they do shut it down, I would like to remind all homebrew developers for the 7800 that I can be reached by PM, and that my email is listed. I certainly wouldn't stop buying homebrews if they shut the AA store down, but I would stop buying products from Atari.

    I will also support the Homebrew makers as much as I can. I'm not hard to find either. Someone let loose if they even THINK about shutting this site down!

    I'm going to say it would PROBABLY work, and I really don't see how it could possibly damage your system or your tv(just make sure both are turned off when you plug it in). At any rate, it can't hurt to try it. Now, a power supply with the wrong settings.... THAT could damage your system.

     

    Video cable..... no. I don't see it.

     

    Well, not unless you tied it around the VCS and used it to swing the thing around over your head like a cowboy with a lasso, and then let it go. THAT might damage it... ;)

    Yeah, or you can get a 1300mA one from WalMart, like I did... and just set the switch to 9v.

     

    As for the cable..... it's a standard RCA cable...

     

    Ok..... do this. There are just a few screws holding the thing together. Remove them, and put them somewhere safe. BTW- Is this a 6 switch, 4 switch, or what?

     

    Anyway... remove the case, and you should see a large hunk of metal screwed into the bottom part of the case. This is an RF shield. You should see some screws holding it on... it's safe to remove them, as you can't have the thing plugged in without a power supply. ;) Look for where the cable comes in at, and follow it to where it plugs in. It should come out fairly easily with a little twisting. Once you have it out, you can take that wire with you, and find a wire with that exact connector on both ends. Reverse the steps you used to take it apart. If you have any reservations about taking things apart.... take some pics and post them so we can advise you.
