  1. Couple things: The cable that runs from your 2600 to your TV is nothing more than a nicely shielded A/V cable with RCA jacks on both ends. It's very easy to replace. Also, there is a connector available that you can plug right onto the RCA end that converts it to a standard Cable TV connector. This is a really easy fix. A pair of eyes, a pair of hands, a screwdriver and a new cable is all you need for this one. As for the power supple, you need a 9v 1300mA adapter. Most of these come with variable settings, and several connector ends. Only 1 end will fit into the 2600, and I've given you the settings. As for the A/V mod, I think I know the mod you are talking about(for HD televisions?).... but I have no knowledge on that topic. Good luck with it!
  2. In that case, all we need is the specs on the power supply(which I can go look at)... hack it in, and you can pick up a variable(via switch) PS from WalMart. Just checked... output 9v 1 amp. I can get a photo, if it's needed.
  3. General questions: Do you know what is wrong with the SX-64? What condition is it in, casewise? Does it have all cables(particularly the keyboard cable)?
  4. I always thought that was Complete In Box.
  5. NEVER!! EVER!!!! Use anything abrasive to clean cartridge contacts!! Over time, you will destroy the carts! You want them to work, not become useless in a few years. Buy a couple of cheap pink erasers. Then use those to clean BOTH sides of the contacts. After that, use the q-tip/rubbing alcohol combination to clean the dust off of, or even just a quick shot of compressed air. I've been using this technique for decades, and it's the perfect solution. You won't risk damaging your carts, and even though some are easily replaced.... do you REALLY want to go through that?
  6. Is there any reason we can't figure out a hardware hack to put a different (shall we say, normal) power supply connector in the thing? I mean, someone figure out how to add a 9v battery connector to the 2600(a hack even I was able to perform very easily)......
  7. Wait a minute.. that links info is wrong isn't it? It's the RIGHT side that's the safe spot! Even their picture shows that.. Oh, ok. I thought he was referring to a safe spot in the Atari 2600's version of Pac-Man. There is one in the Atari 2600 version. I used it to take naps during my weekend marathon. I can't remember exactly where it is, but if memory serves, it was somewhere in the upper right quadrant.
  8. That Indy 500 XE, is that a hack of the original Indy 500? Or something different altogether?
  9. I don't have a Vectrex, nor do I think I'll ever get one. The 7800 could handle this game...... seriously...... someone give it a try.
  10. It's quite obvious if you click the watch in high quality link just below the video. UH, what exactly is obvious? I still see 6 switcher then I see the 4 switch model. What exactly am I missing? The point of his post, obviously. He noted that it looked like that to him, although he admitted it COULD have been the quality of the video playing tricks on the eye. Edit: Or, depending on whom you are refering, it could be that the respondant with the high quality video was proving the point, that it really WAS a switcheroo(pun intended).
  11. One word: SCRAMBLE! I've never seen this game ported to any console platform, EVER. Scramble Seriously..... someone make this!
  12. Very cool. I think I'll do the same. Might just use a sharpie on it instead of paint though. I had the sharpie in my hand, but ultimately decided I wanted something more permanent AND figured that the sharpie would "run" or look streaked. Would also suck if the ink from a sharpie never fully dried and you ended up smearing it while placing on the tree, taking off, etc. If you use a sharpie - let us know how it turned out and post a pic please! I'm surprised nobody has commented on why I didn't paint the T-moulding orange yet... lol Original arcade was orange. I have a Pac standup and it's orange of course. I've ALWAYS wanted to put black on it, but cannot find that size T-moulding anymore :-( You know, I used to paint those AD&D miniature figures, and still have all of the stuff to do it. I may tackle the cabinet painting myself. Anyone try opening that little bugger up yet? I'd like to make the parts that the light shouldn't show through, opaque.
  13. As a matter of fact, he did have one of his own in there. Go back and go through the whole thing. Don't stop at the "404 - Not Found" page.... there is still a "NEXT" button at the bottom. And yes, he even ripped on his own. At least he's fair.
  14. Nah... this is a young guy. I'm preparing someone to take over collecting from us older folks. (besides, I can sell him my duplicates.)
  15. How the hell do you access that? I don't particularly like DK64, but if there's the arcade version in there somewhere...... (back to topic) I've been playing a bit here recently: Missile Command(2600) ~1 hour Food Fight(7800) ~ 45 minutes Beef Drop(7800) ~ 2 hours Keystone Kapers ~20 minutes Kaboom ~1 hour In the Frantic Factory locate the DK machine, it looks just like the real thing. Use DK to pull the lever and the game begins. Finish all 4 stages once through to receive a banana medal??? then a second time through to get a nintendo logo???? I'm a little rusty on this but I think once you beat it twice it's unlocked from the main menu. It's been a couple years since I unlocked it. Check out www.gamefaqs.com it's got to be there. Thanks!! I never knew it was in there.
  16. As for the Plastic cubes , some are the one's made for card collections and the others are those clear plastic picture frames and actualy do not have any backs on them (oh! God , my dirty little secret is out , sure hope the Atari Police are not listening ) . Have to figure out a good solution to that. Something maybe along the lines of either a hard backing -cardboard or plexiglass and then "tacky glue" so you can still get it off if you need to .They are good because they come in so many sizes / bad because of the no-back thing. I have a suggestion for that. Use two pieces of clear packing tape. Measure both, so that the shorter piece is the same width as the opening in the back. Make the other piece an inch longer. Put the shorter piece in the middle of the longer one(sticky sides together), this should leave you 1/2 inch of tacky-tape on each end. Secure the tape to the case. The shorter piece of tape negates the "sticky" part of the other piece, so your carts won't stick and potentially get damaged.
  17. Which overpass? What time? What day? Shit, if you are tossing free FB2's, I'm all OVER that! (Sure, I'll use them.... give some to friends, get them interested(read: hooked on Atari games, and soon enough, collecting)
  18. I sent a txt message to a coworker who may be interested. I'll let you know when I hear from him. If not tonight, I'll see him tomorrow.
  19. I will admit that I was seriously disappointed in 2 games I bought new for the 2600.... Pac Man, and Defender. Neither was very good, in fact, even as a tweenager, I felt that they could both have been done much better. However, the fact that I paid over $30 each for them, I did play them. Including a marathon session of PacMan(where I discovered that you could leave PacMan in one spot, and not worry about him being killed(so I could sleep without resetting the game)) where I racked up enough points to turn it over(Yes, I passed 1million points). It took me all weekend, but I did it. Defender, I could never play for more than 30 minutes at a clip. Then again, I was more addicted to Stargate in the arcade than Defender.
