  1. I would bet money you are remembering the NES Gauntlet, maybe even the Lynx version. Possibly an older computer version or something? Not sure, I only owned an Amiga but you are NOT thinking of a 2600 version, it does not exsist. That I know I would have to agree with you. NES Gauntlet was a major disappointment!! I bought the system specifically for that game. Thankfully, I got my hands on Gauntlet II for the Amiga. Now that is how you port an arcade game!!
  2. Heck, STARGATE is the one with all the buttons. It added the inviso button! Well you really only need to use 3 for the most of the game. Thrust & Fire on the right (just like in Asteroids type games), and the reverse button. Left Hand -Up/Down Joystick -thumb controlled Reverse Button Right Hand -Thrust -Fire Then of course you got the smart bomb which you just slap with your right thumb when needed. The hyperspace in the center is almost never used unless you panic. You need the layout of the original.. the x-arcade just aint going to cut it. (believe me I've tried) At least I know I'm not the only person who played exactly like that. ROFL!!! I've never tried X-Arcade....but without the same button configuration, it simply can't be played the same. I was better at Stargate, myself. Mostly because Stargate was at my "home" location. You see, I basicly lived at a pool hall. I would sleep at my house, go to school, leave school and head right to the pool hall. My best friend's parents owned it. Damn shame the place burned down, but I guess if it hadn't, I wouldn't have Lunar Lander and Paddle Battle.
  3. The one local shop around here that carries Atari carts keeps them in a case. They are slightly overpriced(usually $1 over $1/rarity...depending on the cart. Pac-Man is $3.99, which is $3 over $1/rarity, but others I've gotten for less than $1/rarity....so I guess it works out.) but well organized(I made the section known...as nobody who works there has one...yet.) I was going to hit the local Flea Market today...but it's raining, and I hate driving when it's raining in near-freezing conditions. There is always tomorrow.
  4. If I had known about THIS item before........ I want that.....I want that real bad. Do you have another copy? If so, I'll offer $10 + shipping for a copy. Why? Because I am also a collector of Commodore and Amiga stuff.
  5. I haven't had a chance to play them yet, but mine arrived a few days ago.
  6. I could use a wife too. Nine years ago this month I met my Dawn Elizabeth and she got hooked on 2600 Millipede. I miss her (died 1999). Don't think I ever showed her my 2600 programming efforts, though there wasn't a whole lot to see back then (I had the basic Strat-O-Gems kernel worked out, though) I can relate with ya, dude. I lost my wife to Ovarian Cancer about 18 months ago. Mine didn't really get into the classic games, but her son loved him some Dig Dug!
  7. Sounds like you are on the right track....do us a favor, though.... take pics and let us see what is going on in there.
  8. It's been suggested and is a great idea but for some reason either the right people at Ebay didn't hear or just weren't listening. ...And the AAA idea is a great one, and there are plenty of people who do sell their extras, but I don't think most people would want to site to turn into an auction site. As it is, there are several people here for that and that alone (to sell stuff). some are good people, others...well...Nah. Nevermind. The idea, as I understand it, isn't to turn AA into AAA....but to have a section(like a cross between Marketplace and e-bay) specifically for it. I fully support the idea, and would participate as well.
  9. What's the new PayPal policy going to be, exactly? I'm sure it's been covered elsewhere, so forgive my ignorance, but you make it sound like this will be the norm, whereas I thought it was only going to be the case under limited circumstances. Check out post #28 in this thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=1455299 You wanna hear something funny? With the last few purchases I made, I'm now elligable to apply for Power Seller status. How the hell does THAT work?! I mean, I've sold stuff before on epay, and these new rules they are putting in.....I'm seriously considering cancelling my account. It's sad, because I have been fairly lucky with buying on there. I've only not received an item once, and otherwise had little problem. But they are going nuts with these retarded rules.
  10. I was waiting to see if anyone else made the connection. (I spotted it right away...and honestly laughed pretty hard)
  11. Says the man(?) who has an avatar very similiar to a character in the game.....
  12. stop thinking so "straight" why limit your pleasure only to one side.... you can be pitcher AND catcher! What does this have to do with a baseball game? Well there are balls involved. How many? Baseball only has one. up to 6 balls if you got all 3 dudes on the field well if they are playing baseball, it will be 7 balls then Gonna be funny to watch, with 3 bats in play.
  13. Add me to the list. If they are being numbered, can I get #12?
  14. I just got this game yesterday. I seriously need to read the manual for it. That little bastard is quick!
  15. Is there ANY way to DL them?! That's the main reason I dislike YouTube.....
  16. The local place I find Atari games at has a small stack of them(probably 4-6 of them)......They were a little on the pricey side, if I remember correctly....$3.99 per cart. If you want them, I'll pick them up and ship them to you for the cost of doing so.
  17. ^^^ I like it! Now, send that idea to epay and see if they'll actually DO it.
  18. That's because you are in the zone, man......in the zone........... Eyes unblinking...your hand holding the controller firm, yet relaxed....your fingers resting lightly, confidently on the dial......spinning it left and right, right and left, in a rhythm so fluid, so pure.......until you miss.....then.....KABOOM!!
  19. I suggest to the original poster to take that baby apart, and give it a good thurough cleaning(buy a bottle of rubbing alcohol, a box of q-tips, and a pink eraser). I've been lucky, so far. While the 7800 I won came with a really busted up box, it was packed well and worked fine, as did all of the games that came with it. I take feedback seriously. I know mine is low, but I've been on ebay for years(just not really active), and I'm at 100% positive(one buyer gave me a neutral, for something that was shown in several pictures....but I didn't retaliate....I didn't leave him any feedback). Also, instead of jury-rigging the wire... pick up one of those connectors from either the Atari-Age store, or your local Radio Shack(depending on how fast you want it). RCA female to Coaxl male. Keep us apprised.
  20. I recently topped the 100 mark myself. I probably have about 130 unique titles, and less than 10 repeats.
  21. I want a copy of that X-Man, who bought an extra copy back then?!
  22. Power supply is the first thing to go on our precious units. I bought a new one at WalMart for around $14. It has multiple settings for different uses, but it works great for the 2600. Also, someone posted a 9 volt battery hack a while back.... I did this to mine, which proved it was the power supply.
  23. I have to agree with what has been mentioned before. Find someone near you with a cart-dumper and back that thing up. It's too rare to let just die as it will eventually, without even a copy of the code. I hope you enjoy it, and that a few dupes can be made(with different labels, of course). This kinda stuff never happens to me, so I'm happy for you!
