Anyone got a spare HERO cart they can part with? I actually don't have this game.

Boulder Dash® preorder list
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Andrew Davie's topic in Boulder Dash® Development Blog
I wish. I should have stated that the release DOES include a box... and manual. I'll also throw in a small boulder... really small... OK, a pebble... for those who ask nicely. I would like to be part of the "boulder included" crowd! So I toss out a PWEEEEEEEZZZZZ!!!!!!???? I think that's an awesome idea! Might want to put it in something though...I'm just not sure exactly what. It would be like the old days with the games that gave you little free things to enhance your gaming experience! -

Look at #42. Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Check out the original....it's kicks ass! -
*UPDATE * File false Payal claims - get free Atari games!

If I am ever asked to "log in" again, I close the window, open another and THEN log in. -
I'd say open her up, and check the contacts. Clean them up as well as you can, and know that you can try it out with the cover still off. Make sure everything sits nice and snug.

Boulder Dash® preorder list
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Andrew Davie's topic in Boulder Dash® Development Blog
I can't remember all of the numbers people selected...so put me down for ONE of the following(listed in prefered order): 3, 5, 15, 23, 33, 38, 44, 21, 8, or lowest # available at this point. Thanks! -
1398, my last entry....unless I get time tomorrow. For the record, my WORST legit game was 21. I blame American Idol for that score.

Not to sound arguementative, but why are you guys playing any of the "common" games on emulation? If emulation is your thing, that's fine. I'm just one of those diehards who prefers playing on original hardware.

These often come off relatively easy with a heat gun. However, these are often later games from Atari and thus in the "cheaper" cartridge shells they produced later. If they are the carts with the two holes under the main label (at the end where the cart is inserted into the system) I am not interested in those as it's too easy for the label to become indented over these holes. ..Al Dammit, I wish I had known that before I attacked that label. Ah well, I guess they are going in the trash, then.

That is actually not true. I have a book with Ms. Pacman paterns in it, and I know for a fact that they work(at least, they do up til the later levels....or I just couldn't get them right).

So far, the Nail Polish Remover is working great. I've got it damned near clean, and with no visible signs of damage to the cart itself. Just takes a little patience. BTW, this isn't a name brand npr.....it's a "generic" WalMart brand. Let it soak a while.......attack the label for 5 minutes.......let soak some more.........attack the label for 5 minutes..... let soak some more..........attack the label for 5 minutes.......Rince and repeat. I see no reason at this time for this cart case to not be usable.

my collection finally classified and my homebrews/repros

Ask Marc Oberhäuser for it... icon_wink.gif This guy? May I ask why? -
If it's the non-acetone variety, it probably won't "melt" the plastic, but it will damage it. Don't do that...not worth the risk. I'm using the acetone variety. I've found it to be the best for it's own purpose...and never thought about using it in this manner. As an update, I have the label off, and only some glue residue remains. I'm gonna soak it for another hour or so and try again. I'm also scrubbing it a little with a "nail brush"(anyone with a wife/girlfriend should know what I mean)....I am absolutely NOT going to use the Pumice Stone on the reverse side, as I think it would scratch it.

Is there a mod that can be used to hook them up to computer monitors? Obviously, I am refering to non-Commodore/Amiga monitors. I'm thinking the older computer monitors(with the DB15 connector) would be decent to use...(and I have more of them around here than I can count).

Alright, I'm putting this on here to see if there is some interest. I have a boatload of Compute's Gazette Magazines from the mid 80's through the early 90's. I have the "Gazette Disks" from many of them, also. I have several 1541 drives, a few 1571 drives, and even some 1581 drives. All have power cables and serial cables, and most are functional(I would differentiate between them). I have a couple Amiga 500's, some 1010 external drives. I have some NIB C= 64 titles, including Weird Dreams(1), Rambo II(4), Conflict in Vietnam(1), Time to Die(3), Aerojet(1), The Slugger(2), Top Gun(4) and Metal Gear(1). (Number in parentheses is how many copies I have, not a rarity or anything.) The boxes are not in perfect condition, and have been banged up a little...but the contents should be just fine. I am also looking to sell a lot of Amiga Format CDs. I have a nice long list of them....and I'll update this post later if there is some interest.

Where can you get a copy of that Revenge of the Apes? That game looks pretty cool! -
Well, I don't have any Bestine laying around, and I'm not sure where to aquire any. So, I'm going to give Nail Polish remover a try, and see how that works. I'm gonna soak the cart(pour a little on a plate, and lay the cart label side down in it) for a while, and then use an old credit card to see how much of it I can get off. If it works well, I'll rince and repeat, as the saying goes.

WOOT! 1398! (I'll add a pic later...I wanna try for higher.)
-
Get used to that.

I sent an e-mail to the link in the store page. In a batch I recently got, I had a couple of DOAs. One of them happens to be a "silver" lable(More gray than silver...)....and I wouldn't mind giving it a shot of getting the label off to send it in. Is it worth even trying? I'd really hate to just toss it into the recycling bin just because it doesn't work. I have a couple of ideas for getting those labels off, but if you're not going to accept them anyway......

Novelities included with Games
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to phuzzed's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah, I have a large number of the original Infocom releases, and those were some of the most enjoyable games to open up. The Ultima games came with cloth maps and in some cases other items (for instance, Ultima IV came with a moon stone). Much more care was put into the packaging, documentation and "extras" back in the 80s. Now you're lucky to even get a plastic jewel case with your game and any printed documentation at all. ..Al Or, since the creation of Steam...you're lucky to get a plastic disk with the game on it....... -
!me brushes away a tear....remembering the good ol' days.

Tip: I've noticed that the closer to the edge of the teeter-totter you catch your guy, the higher he will go. Tip: If you're clowns are stuck against the side try turning your teeter-totter around (as long as he is bouncing far enough away from the wall, so he doesn't fall) this will usually change the direction of the bounce. I've noticed that the "edge" of the teeter totter is a deathtrap. Somehow, I doubt the fact of playing it on the 7800 as opposed to the 2600 will make any difference there. I'll be honest, this game is challenging...more challenging than I had thought.
-
284!! WOOT! Hint: After launching your little dude, the button will turn your teeter-totter around. (I honestly discovered this by accident)

Does this tick anyone else off or just me.....

Having worked at FedEx Ground, I can tell you that putting a "Fragile" sticker/stamp/marking on a bubble envelope is the same as putting a target on your forehead and walking into "not nice neighborhoods". Just because *I* respected that "fragile" marking, doesn't mean everyone does(I have seen it first hand). I haven't received any boxed items in any shape except for as described, especially when properly packed. Remember, those bubble envelopes get packed into the same exact tractor trailers as packages. The only difference is that they are in large plastic bags, and thrown(!) in last.
