Have rare game (8+) and some questions regarding it.
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to X_ArchAngel's topic in Atari 2600
YES NO- that is dishonest and 'not original' I didn't mean to convey that I'd be dishonest about making a new label for the cartridge. If I were to sell it with a reproduction label I would make it known to the buyer. I only asked more in reference to restoring the original aesthetics to the cartridge only; purely for cosmetic purposes. Make it look alot better than the torn away label that's on there now. Still, I appreciate the feedback. I don't think it would be worth my while to try and sell it for so little. I'll hang onto it for the time being. And I still need to find a replacement power supply. I haven't been able to play any of my Atari's for years since my only one broke long ago... Walmart sells compatable power supplies, believe it or not. It's got a multiple voltage output via a small switch on it. Made by "Powerline", has 1300mA, 5-12volts. It works great for my light sixer. It was a bit pricey(around $15)...but it beat using 9volt batteries, as they tend to last only 4 hours or so. -
I'll install my scanner software later on today, and grab some scans of this varient I picked up an hour or so ago. It has that dual colour lable(text), and includes text not shown on the scans in the RG on here. The end lable is also slightly different from those shown. Also, the item number is different from the ones shown. I'm guessing it is still an R-3, like the others....but I thought I would share what I found.

Auctioning off Atari collection - UPDATED 1/11/07
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to johnnywc's topic in Auction Central
I hope I'm correct in assuming that you will combine shipping on multiple carts..... Edit: Sorry, didn't read the whole thing. Colour me blind. 8^) -
I'm interested, but I don't do emulation. I'll be happy to play the games I have(I don't really have many, but I can list them...if that'll help).

I've only done it on the arcade game, and I remember you had to hit your lance to it's tongue(open mouth, obviously).

The end of future classic gaming?
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Paul Humbug's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Actually, once you have "activated" the game, you can make back-ups as needed. I do agree with you about the lack of resaleability. That part does suck. Do you have any idea why HL2 wouldn't work on your PCs? I haven't had any problems with it on either of my newer machines. -
At the gaming store I hit for Atari games, they are selling these new consoles that play NES and SNES games(same console)....so I wouldn't really say a new 2600-clone is too far fetched.

Good arcade games that were not popular
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Red 5's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Did that game have a cassette in it for some of the sound effects? Different voices calling in, "Dispatch!" this and that.... -
Thought I saw A Pac-Man Today....
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to sandmountainslim's topic in Arcade and Pinball
NICE! I happen to frequent a bar that has that machine. Gonna really mess with some people's heads now. I just want to take a second and confirm that this DOES WORK! I did it today, and managed to rack up some points. 8^) Only thing I noticed, was that patterns didn't hold up for very long. I have to wonder, how you discovered this....and how many more games are unlockable in that machine? -
I would also recommend picking up a Flashback 2, if you can find one anywhere. The joysticks that come with it are much sturdier than the originals.

Just how much is Boulder Dash® worth to you?
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Andrew Davie's topic in Boulder Dash® Development Blog
I'm another one of the "Financially challenged", but I had to vote up to $50. I also know the time and effort put into a project, and how difficult it is to break even. I love Boulder Dash, and if this became a liscenced cart....I'd really like to have one. Of course, I have a seasonal job...so right now, I would be hard pressed to come up with the money....this spring, I'd probably be able to afford it. -
There is a local store that has Atari carts, sadly, they are cart only. Although, I did pick up an R5, some R4s, and lots of R3s....and haven't paid more than $3 per cart. Some of the lables aren't in pristene condition, but that's ok with me. I actually like to play with them. If there is something in particular you are looking for, I can check for it next time I go there. Like I said, nothing out of the ordinary...but you never know. They had some games I had never heard of.

I was going through the rarity guide, pulling up all the games I have, and found that I have a Missile Command(2600) that isn't listed. I grant, it's probably not "rare", but for inclusivity, I felt I should mention it. It is identical to this one: Missile Command Atari Picture - Upper Case end label Except that most of the text is lower case, including the end label. Are pictures needed? I can provide if so.
-
Yup, that's why I grab them when I can. Allan Now I feel like an idiot for throwing away 3 dead carts a few years ago.
-
It gets worse. :!: Yeah....especially if you run low on $$$.
-
I have both versions, and play both versions. The voice does improve gameplay, though. I do find it amusing as hell that the 5200 version has a clearer speech than the arcade version. Hehehhe

That there was the part that got me.

I went in Gamestop yesterday, sorta looking for a SNES system to replace the one my kids heisted. The guy(heh, if a 14 year old can be called a "guy" hehehe) looked at me like I had 4 heads and a hairlip. Apparently anything not newer than 5 years is touchable to them anymore. There are several other Gamestops in the area, but I figured I'd probably get the same reaction at all of them. I ended up going to a place I hadn't been in a while(mainly because they had looked at me the same way a few years back....when Gamestop carried older stuff....), a Video Game Exchange. I had spotted an Arcade Space Invaders machine in there a while back, but didn't have the funds for it. Anyhow, they not only had the SNES I was looking for(although $40 was kinda pricy, I figured E-Pay would be about the same), but they had a whole shelf PACKED with Atari 2600 games. I picked up a couple of those, as well. I go back today, picked up a couple of games for my SNES, my N-64, and saw a few games for the 5200, so as I perused them....I found a nice little trophy. Gorf, for the 5200. $2.99 and it was MINE!

Extremely strange question regarding Atari 2600
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Phoenix's topic in Atari 2600
We Amiga owners had a lot of fun explaining THAT one to people back in the day, as well. Imagine, a 25 mhz machine that could easily out-perform a 100mhz one..... It didn't work according to their logic, but in reality, worked better than they could comprehend. -
I just thought of one I had forgotten, also: Gorf. I used to kick ass with that game.
