I don't know if I can stop at 5...... Berzerk, Skramble, Missile Command, Stargate(aka Defender II), Donkey Kong, Time Pilot, Super Pac-Man, Gauntlet, and APB. I know, I know....but I spent SO much money in those games, each was great in it's own right, and I was very good at most of them.

Huge list of 2007 free game releases!
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Midnight Synergy's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'll check out that list shortly....but I do wonder if it includes game Mods. I'll be looking for "Fortress Forever" in that list. True, it requires Half Life 2 to play it, but the game itself is free. Version 1.11 is out, and for anyone interested, hit up www.fortress-forever.com for all the latest info, including DLs. -
I for one would LOVE to see more sticks come out, or even some gamekeys. What pisses me off, though, is seeing YET ANOTHER stick, with the same rehashed games on it. I've got the first Pac Man stick, the Ms Pac Man(gamekey version), and the Super Pac Man stick. I enjoy them all, but for crying out loud, I don't need another version of Pac Man! I'd pay $20 for a new stick, with 3-4 games on it, as long as I don't already have them. Sheesh! Hell, I'd be happy with a couple new keys to play with, as long as they have NEW games on them. Time Pilot, Berzerk, Centipede, and a hell of a lot more titles we can think of. You can't tell me there aren't lots of choices out there, and sales of prior units should have shown a market. It's a market the companies are killing themselves.

jboy- You should check out the rest of the album. It kicks ass! Single Tooth- I can possibly arrange to get them to you. Hit me up in a PM if you are interested.

Flashback Portable VS GamePort ?
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to netmoe's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
That is what it's popularly known as, yes. Agreed on the MP3 connection, but I don't see how this rules out fair use for cartridge images? Unless you're concerned that MP3 ripping will be found to not be fair use? Stupid public statements from the RIAA aside, the MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd. case somewhat clarified the situation with MP3s. In the arguments, MGM made this statement: The judges appeared to reaffirm this in their decision, citing the "betamax case" as precedent: (Emphasis added.) Based on the current case law, I think that ripped MP3s are fairly safe against prosecution. As you mentioned, this strengthens the case for ripping ROMs. Indeed, the MGM v. Grokster case seems to affirm the practice by suggesting that any copying for non-infringing purposes is "fair use". I presume you are referring to the Intellectual Property Protection Act of 2006? (Nay, 2007!) As I explained here, I wouldn't worry too much about this proposal becoming law. Congress dropped the first one in the dust bin, and is even less likely to look at the second one upon considering who submitted it. You have to be careful here. There are two separate issues: 1. Did the consumer willingly violate copyright law? 2. Is the device (e.g. emulator, ROM ripper, etc.) only useful for violating copyright law? Your example appears to speak to the first issue. In which case both Parker Bros. and Konami might have a reasonable case against the infringer. However, that would not result in a decision against the emulator. In the case of an emulator's legality, you'd probably see Coleco bring the case. However, the other parties are potentially damaged as well, so they can pursue their own cases. I personally think that a judge would find substantial non-infringing uses for emulators, but his decision might be tempered by the lack of devices on the market to "rip" the ROMs. However, the existence of homebrew communities who use these programs as development tools combined with the legal commercial uses of emulators (e.g. GameTap, IntellivisionLives!, Wii Virtual Console, etc.) would make a pretty good case for their continued existence. I don't know about you, but I just want a device to play Deimos Lander on. Ok, suppose a person owns a cart, and downloads a "ripped" copy off of the net? Suppose they can't afford the means to buy the hardware to do the rip themselves? Suppose they aren't computer literate enough to do it themself? Why should they be shut out from playing a game they legally own? There are many arguements on this angle. Take "Pac Man Fever"........ B&G were not allowed access to their own recordings....so they re-made the album. Those of us who purchased the album(and/or cassette) feel that we should have access to the recording on a medium we use otherwise. I haven't had a functional record player for almost 20 years. I have no way to hook my tape deck into my computer..... But someone else did. I can prove ownership of the original medium......so where is the infringement? -
I *THINK* I played this game back in the day..... On the tape, do the cops keep calling out for "Dispatch!" I can't for the life of me remember what all they were calling them about....but I know that I was responsible for it.(Being the quarter-feeder...heheh)

Am I the only one wishing they had made a followup album with 8-10 more games?

I know it has been a while since I have been here...... This isn't bullshit...this is for real. I am selling off ALL of my collectibles as soon as I can. I am starting with Transformers, partially due to the movie coming out, but also because of the ease of getting to those items first. I will soon be selling off Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, comic books, Punisher, Batman, other various superhero's, all kinds of stuff. I haven't really broadcast this(following info) here, partially because of bad timing with the boards going down, and the event taking place to start with.... but my wife suffered from Ovarian Cancer, she battled it for nearly 3 years. Last year(8-23-06, to be exact), she lost that battle. I have been battling depression, and fighting off bills, and the possibility of losing my home. I quit smoking 6 months ago...which has saved me lots of money, but I continue to fall behind on things. I was working nearly 70 hours per week during my jobs busy season. At this point, our slow season is fast approaching, and I have almost nothing bankroll'd, due to bills. The time has come to let go of the past....so here it goes. I am being very honest in the auctions, and am willing to take as many pictures as needed to satisfy customers. I have only ever used e-bay to buy items, but I have not received any negative feedback. I expect selling to be the same. I believe in honesty, sometimes to the point of pissing people off. This past week has been filled with me getting a dumpster delivered to my house, and throwing out things that are of no use or value. Finding things to get the auctions rolling and starting to fill the dumpster has been very productive. Hopefully, this link works. my auctions I am not looking to turn this forum into a yard sale, but I am posting this in case anyone here might be interested.

I rather liked the game-key option as well. The only key capable stick I have is the Ms. Pac Man, which came bundled with 2 keys. Everytime I am at WalMart(or another store that carries those things), I look to see if any keys are available. I guess I should stop wasting my time. Maybe a letter/e-mail writing campaign is in order? Just to see what their intention is. As a side note, I've passed over a couple of their non-key compatible sticks, hoping that they might come out with key compatable models. In a way, that has cost them sales.

I wouldn't mind a meet up for a beer or two....or three....etc....... I appreciate your condolences. I posted about it(for the first time on this forum) in the Breast Cancer cart thread, in the 2600 area. I would certainly be up to meeting a fellow "vintage gamer", and tossing back a few. Maybe we could make a party of it? Right now, we are being slammed at work(I work at a greenhouse/nursery)...so I have very little free time. Perhapse sometime later in Nov? Work will be winding down for the winter, while we start doing production work for the spring season. I also appreciate the offer for the help....but I really can't spare the cash for another game. I really wish I could, though...I would love to have about 6 games in here. Missile Command, Donkey Kong, Scramble, Gorf, Star Gate, and Berzerk. Before that can happen, though...I need to unload some of my vintage computer collection.

ROFL!!!! What a concept! -
Yeah Me too I have to say the same thing I get to Timmonium 1 or twice a year for the Hamfests Mainly the 2 day event Wife said I could go on Oct 27 IF I do a good job with our anniversary on the 21st Id have to take her car and not my truck as to keep from coming home with things I have no room for I had a coworker offer to meet me out there with her truck. I was so tempted... Thing is, part of the reason I have no room, is that my wife had a lot of stuff accumulated, which I'm currently going through(as time permits)...and splitting up with the kids. I mentioned in another thread, that my wife died about 2 months ago(ovarian cancer). It's probably a good thing I don't have room....because I definitely don't have the money. If she were still alive, I'd go...just to see if I could pick up a Donkey Kong machine for her. I used to hit the hamfests out there, both the BARC and BRATS ones. I used to pick up some good deals there. I've been out of the loop for the past few years....how are those shows these days?

Breast Cancer Cartridge #1 Auction - One Week Only!
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Albert's topic in Atari 2600
My wife had breast cancer at the age of 30. She survived it. Almost 3 years ago, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer(late stage 3). She battled it, we thought she had won...but it came back near her liver. She died almost 2 months ago. She was 44. She stopped working about 3 months prior to her death...she had no choice. I wish I could have bought one of those, it would have meant a lot to me. There is just no way I could afford it. The next few months will determine if I'll even be able to keep my home. Won't be easy with a single income. Good job raising the money! I will be doing something to help the cause, though...I'm writing a new book, telling about our relationship together(it was a very close, very special one), our battle with the cancer, and how I'm dealing with losing her. -
I have no room. I have no room. I have no room. I have no room. (Have to keep talking myself out of going there.) I have no room. I have no room.

Jakk's Ms. Pac-Man & C64DTV question...
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to TrekkiELO's topic in Dedicated Systems
Funny you should mention that....my Super Pac-Man stick has the same problem, and I'm going to drop some oil in there(just a couple of drops). I kinda hate to, because I don't want to damage it....but the alternative is to actually take it apart and see if I can stop the noise. -
Rec. C's FB2's Here....I think
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Retro Rogue's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
So was the Missile Command TIA bug not fixed then? Mitch Missile Command had a bug in it? What was it? I didn't notice any difference between the FB2 and the cart version.......... -
Which would be the best program to use for a Windows 98 system? That's what I'm going to use in my cab. Would further spec's help with that question?
-
What dimensions did you use the first time? And how many controllers are you going to have on that bad-boy? (I'm going to attempt this sort of project myself, so expect lots of questions...which I'm hoping you won't mind answering)

Nice. Looks a little like a Tempest cabinet. Keep the pics coming! I'm going to try and build one of these myself.

New Activision and Intellivision plug+play units coming
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to Flojomojo's topic in Dedicated Systems
<snip> Konami and Majesco have teamed-up to slap together a craptastic Dance Dance Revolution spin-off featuring Strawberry Shortcake and her posse of confections. Apparently the Care Bears, Smurfs and Mr Magoo had their dance cards full. <snip> Potentially the third most disturbing thing I've heard this year. -
The Atari Flashback 3 Petition
[d2f]Iggy*SJB replied to gamer1682's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I want to know what we'd be getting(even a general platform base would be good). If it's a 5200/7800 based machine with built in games, plus "carts/keys" that can be added on....I'd definitely be all over that one. If it's an 8-bit computer based unit....I'd have to actually SEE one before deciding. I never really got into the Atari computer line, so it would greatly depend on the games, and their playability. I'd at the very least be interested.
