  1. I have one of these, it has no instruction booklet, but appears to be fairly simple to operate. There is no power adapter, but it has a hole for one, and will work with 6 "C" size batteries. I'm considering selling this, but before I put it up on e-bay, I'd like to see what everyone here thinks it might be worth. Of course, I will test it out(I don't think I've ever hooked it up, but I won't sell it if it's dead)...It does have the original box, and the TV Switchbox that came with it. As you can see, it's a little discoloured, but otherwise in pretty good shape.
  2. Not my problem....no one else bid on it, and I already paid for it...if it arrives in a timely fashion, and is as described....I'll be happy.
  3. So how much did the wind sell for? 1013262[/snapback]
  4. If the starting bid wasn't double what he paid for it, that'd be a little different. If he started it at, say, $20, then maybe he just needed the cash. But starting it double what you paid for it? Nah. I don't care if it IS a proto.....
  5. Look, you can't blame the guy for trying....after all, people will buy the DUMBEST shit. I've seen the following things sell for retarded amounts of money: Wind from a Hurricane, sealed in a ziplock(I don't remember the final price, but it came with a warning label..."Do not open bag, contents may still be dangerous"). A hotdog from the NFC championship game($1800). A baggie full of fast food condiments($500+)
  6. Actually, it seems the 9v didn't crap out.....I used a new one today, and the same thing happened. At first, I thought it was a short, but upon opening it back up, I could fit a small file between the areas I thought might have been jumped. The light comes on, but now the games don't work. I used 18 guage wires...could they be too thick to allow the proper voltage to get through? I'll edit this message with pics....maybe we can track the problem down.
  7. Carnival I couldn't pass it up. I haven't played this game since it was at the pizza place across the street from my house. I'll keep everyone apprised on this seller, but his feedback looks pretty good. It's not rare, or anything....but I'm looking forward to playing it!
  8. I have to admit....my 5200 has been working since my 2600(power supply) crapped out...and I played several games on it. Pac-Man seemed almost identical to the C=64 version, Berzerk(probably my favorite 5200 game) was as close to the arcade as you could get, Missile Command is good on both systems.... To not drag this out, there are good games on ALL systems. It's just a matter of what can grab you. Now that my 2600 is working again, I pulled all my games out, and am seeing which ones still grab me. These days, I play my Atari's more than my N64. And I've got some neat games for that system.
  9. I was wondering if anyone would catch that.... How about "Grape Kong"?
  10. Well, that took about an hour longer than it should have. I'll post some pics tomorrow...I've got it sealed back up now, with the LED sitting slightly above the outter case(through a small hole I drilled). Of course, I was going to take a pic of it hooked back up to the TV....but the 9v crapped out, and I don't have anymore around here. Anyway, that mod was a pain, simply because the solder didn't want to stick, and the first wire I got to hold....was about an inch too short. *SIGH* But, I've got it done, and it looks good on the outside....the inside leaves a little to be desired...but it works. I'm happy, at least as happy as I can be with a dead 9v battery. Thanks again for the help!
  11. In that case....forgive me for being an idiot. For some reason, I was thinking that was a chip deep down. Thanks bunches!!
  12. Forgive me for not completely understanding... I don't see a 7805 in mine(labled differently?), and the "expert" lights aren't really necessary. I'm just looking to add the LED to indicate that it's getting power.
  13. This isn't listed in the rarity guide.....anyone know what it is? Joust Supervision Not mine....I'm just trolling E-Bay looking at stuff I can't afford....
  14. Ok.....about the power LED mod....Did you wire that to the underside of the power switch(bottom of board), or directly into the switch itself? Don't worry, I'm not trying to take business away.....and I do appreciate your help. I think it would be usefull for when that battery is getting low, and when I get another power supply.
  15. Wait a minute........ You mean to tell me that the movie was a promo for a game that never made it to market?!?!??!?!?
  16. Well, given the reviews I read about the 1st release(no gamekeys), and the 2nd(wireless).....I was HIGHLY suspect of the 3rd(bundled with gamekeys), to say the least. I must admit, though....that I was very impressed with the ports of Ms. Pac-Man, and the newer Pac-Man. Both games were top notch, and, to be honest about it, worth the price I paid($7). The new version of Rally-X sucks ass. I'm quite disappointed with it. The gameplay of Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac-Man, seem to be of a higher difficulty than the original arcade machines on their standard settings....however, the patterns for Pac-Man WORK. This is something that hasn't been the case in ANY other port I've played, including the Namco Museum for the N64, and the Pac-Man stick. It does have another redeeming quality over other sticks....it keeps your high scores(something I've complained about before). All in all, I can't say that I *LOVE* the stick....but it's at least decent at the budget price I paid. I'm not dissatisfied with the purchase...at the very least, I have some good arcade ports(Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and the original Rally-X(I'm hoping it's at least as good as the version on the Pac-Man stick)), and it does save high scores. Oh, the version of Dig-Dug is very good as well. My step-son should love it.
  17. Berzerk is one of my favorites(both in the arcade, AND on the 2600, although I prefer the 5200's version better). Pac Man was attrocious...and for some bizarre reason, I actually spent a whole weekend playing it just to say I turned it over(1,000,000 points). Donkey Kong is horrid, visually and audibly. Space Invaders was decent, although, like many others, not up to it's arcade counterpart. I didn't even know they made Joust for the 2600...but I like the 5200 version. Missile Command is good on Both systems(2600 and 5200). In fact, the 5200 version is the best version of the day for that game(read: closest to the arcade version). I'm not trying to pull the 5200 into this....just stating my preferences. Hey Godzilla, why do you use the Amiga check mark with Atari's name in your sig?
  18. Best guess.........pretty damned impossible. No offense, because I'd like to see it happen...but Mario/Donkey Kong is Nintendo's absolute trademark. No matter what they do, those two characters are their centerpiece. There is no way in hell they are going to license them out for a near 30 year old game system. BUT! I'm a scofflaw....if someone made it, I'd pick up a copy before Nintendo found out about it and put a stop to it. Of course, I would also encourage the coder to keep selling them, just for GPs(without broadcasting that he was selling them, of course).
  19. Just picked it up at WalMart......Apparently they realized their screwup in the initial "clearance" price(around here, it was clearanced for $20....originally $19.97..hmmmm). I found it for $7. Now THAT is a good price for this unit. I just put the batteries in it, but haven't played it yet. To me, $7 for 10 games(even if I do already have a few of them) is still a deal in my book. I've been waiting for this one to drop in price, and my wife told me that if I buy another PnP game...that I can expect it to be inserted somewhere I don't want it inserted. Oh, not to hijack the thread, but can anyone fill me in on that "Space Invaders" PnP I read about around here somewhere? I kinda put that one on my birthday list(next week)...I'm hoping that doesn't count. What games are on it, and does it have any sharp edges that might hurt when I pull it back out?
  20. It is. It was corrected by the time I clicked the link. All in all, not TOO bad of a combined price. Shame it's a little out of my reach right now, I'd jump on it.
  21. Something I found odd, was at one of my local WalMarts(we actually have 2)...is that the Ms. Pac-Man with the gamekeys, was ORIGINALLY $19.97...now it's on CLEARANCE for $20. Excuse me....but doesn't that amount to $.03 ABOVE what it retailed for? WTF?!
  22. I don't really think that would be a major problem, all things considered. Honestly, I think the idea has some merrit(not that the above poster didn't, mind you). Basicly, it would be a matter of running wires to where they would need to be...although, the difference between the button style could potentially be problematic. I doubt you'll have too much trouble, though....after all, there are many knowledgable people here, and they seem to be more than willing to help out. Good luck with it, post pictures when it's done, both of the inside, the hook-ups, and the closed finished case.
  23. Me too. And I'm glad I spotted that thread about that dude offering to do some mods to original 2600's. I'm now planning on researching some other mods(particularly the A/V mod, and the power LED mod. I want to do those two, and I just bought the parts(as well as a new soldering iron...my old one was starting to "act up"(Handle was getting hot as shit).)
  24. I think he meant a pic of where to solder it onto...but I could be wrong. Let me just say that it's VERY easy to do...and the directions given above are perfectly correct. I had it done in 2 minutes. The only advice I'll give, is the wiring positioning. The way I did it, was that there is an unmodded contact on the bottom of the board, in between the two I soldered the wires to. It doesn't matter which of the "lower" two you solder the wire to, they both connect to the same trace. I just wanted to give myself a little more room to work. I can pull it back apart, and take a pic, if you really need me to, however.
