I would add Disney and Paramount to that list, as they are companies that have actively pursued legal action people who put up fansites for copyrighted works (in fact, when Paramount made their "Star Trek" site a paysite in the mid-90's, they tried to shut down any fansite that had "Star Trek"-related material on it, and sued many of those sites' administrators).
Any idea what their stance on "fan fictions" might be? I don't mean to derail the thread, but that kinda hits home.

Wow. Guess that shoots that straight down.
Thanks for the information, guys. Especially this:Just an FYI, Mile High Comics (some people love 'em, some hate 'em, I'm here as a neutral party) has a buying program. You might want to investigate that if private sales don't pan out and you still want to sell them.
I just checked there, and about the only ones I'll get anything decent(read: close to cover price) for, is Transformers(gen1). Oh well, I guess I'll put them away for another couple of decades.
Thanks again!

Ok, I finally got through the 12 pages of this thread looking for information on the XM. I heard about the XM in the "Super Circus Atari" thread, but had no clue what the XM was, despite reading all 15 pages of that thread. All I could figure out, is that I could buy SCA, but not get any sounds without the XM.... which set me to thinking about no bothering to buy it. I was excited to see that game, since I love the original. So, I found this thread... and read it.
About this thread: FFS people, quit bickering! I wasted almost an hour looking for information on the product/project, while a bunch of you wasted time and effort bitching at one another. Give information, ask questions, get answers, but seriously.... knock off the bullshit. It's as productive as looking for a corner in a round room. Sheesh!
About the product: I can't afford it at this time, but I certainly hope there is one left when I can! I think it's an awesome idea, and as someone a couple pages back said: It allows programmers to give every new game Pokey sound, without a Pokey chip in each cart. Over time, this device will pay for itself. Costs for new carts will be lower(for not needing to have a built in Pokey chip and/or extra RAM), and if you factor in that savings... you'll eventually save the entire cost and then some, of this unit.
It may take some time, but enough games will come out to take advantage of this thing. Chances are, we'll all keep our 7800's functional and looking for games we will enjoy. It's a win-win situation. The only people who will lose out, are those who refuse to buy the XM. If you don't want to buy one, that's your choice.... don't. Ripping on the developers because you don't want to buy it... well, to call a spade a spade.... makes you look like an idiot. If you're not interested, fine. Shut up and move along.
One suggestion: Since it's obvious that not everyone knows what the XM is, maybe a post with all of the relevent information in it could be sticky'd, and linked to in any new game threads that will use this device. It would have saved me(and probably someone else) a boatload of time hunting for it(and the subsequent BS in this thread).
I hope this comes to fruition soon, and that I can pick one up. Either way, best of luck to the developers!

On the line-up, the PC version said 80 on the box for reasons I won't get into, but there were indeed 85 games (87 if you count the two hidden ROMs). The PS2/Xbox versions also have 85 games, but three of them are different. Namely, the three keyboard-based games (Code Breaker, Concentration and BASIC Programming) are gone. In their place are Backgammon, Hangman, and Atari Video Cube.
Wait.... I only read page 1, so forgive me if this was covered between there and here... but what are the hidden roms, and how do I get to them? I bought this through Steam, just because.

I just received 4 DVDs from him. Well packed and in perfect condition.

Oh, if you look in the Marketplace(I think it was), someone posted a link to plastic box wraps you could put your boxes in. I've been meaning to get some of those myself, since I just recently found my stash of original boxes from back in the 70's/80's.
-
Some boxes were glued originally, which would mean they would have to be un-glued first. That alone may damage the box beyond restoration.

I am possibly looking to sell off my comic book collection. I have several large boxes full of them, many commons, some not-so-common. All are in bags with backboards, and yes, there are some factory(printer) sealed in their original bags. I am working on compiling a list, but it's quite time consuming. Given the sheer amount of them in my collection, I am doubtfull anyone would be interested in the lot. However, I would be willing to negotiate larger numbers of them for a better price. I have scanned some of them on my facebook page, and will include a link to that later in this post. Wizard Magazine used to be the "go to" place for comic book prices, but they've pretty much stopped their price guide. I'm using the current Overstreet Comic Book Price guide as a reference, but I will entertain offers on them. If there is interest, I will post(as time permits) the issues I have. Aside from the rare/obscure titles, I have the usual gang of hero's: Superman, Batman, Spiderman, X-Men, etc. I also try to be very fair in grading them, and have no problem with providing pictures. The link is to my Facebook album, and is only a small number of what I have available.
-
Given that I actually like that game, if I were in your position, I'd ask if I could put a $50 deposit on it, and bring the balance in at an agreed upon time. Newer systems can be gotten anytime.... arcade cabs, not so much.

Al, put me down for a copy. I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I've got some teenagers who's heads need messing with.

-
I had to close it early, with the high bid of $400. I apologize for closing it early, but things have happened where I needed money asap.
Thanks for the interest.

Here it is; Summer Games II.

Just to update:
I apologize for not replying earlier... real life got in my way pretty hard since I posted those pictures. Anyhow, I just realized I missed posting a picture of one of them. I'll find out which one and post it in a few minutes(gotta go take the picture of it). Anyway, I'm returning PMs to everyone who sent me one. I do appreciate all of the interest.
I will be packing them up tomorrow morning, and I'll post pictures of the process, so everyone can see how well they are going to be protected. I have to custom make the box, but that's ok. Also, given the bids so far($400 is still the high bid for the whole set, but there is still time), I will not charge for shipping. I'll take care of it, so no worries there.
I would really prefer to sell them as a set. Although I wouldn't have a problem with parting them out, should they all be spoken for. I'm not trying to be greedy, but I do have medical expenses that have to be taken care of. Which is the reason I'm selling them(and other things, as well, that I would prefer to hold onto).
If it turns out they will be parted out, don't worry, they will still be packed securely. I know how packages are handled by shipping companies, as I worked for one for 9 months.
Thanks again, everyone!
Edit: I see it, it was Summer Games that I forgot to take a picture of. I'll post it in a few minutes. How did I miss that?!

Are any of these still for sale? If so which ones, and how much would you like for them? I know you are asking for offers, but I have no idea what to offer for them and I don't want to be insulting. I just have no clue.
Also, how on earth would you mail those things?
First, no offer will be considered "insulting". My fiance' and I finally got the digital camera tonight, so I am going to put real pictures up in this message. I found 2 others along the same vein(slightly smaller, though)... the Omnibot and Omnibot 2000. All pictures(including both sides of the Activision ones(the only double sided ones)) will be posted.
About shipping: I have no problem shipping them anywhere. I will have to make custom sized box(es) for them, and heavily protect them to make sure they don't get bent. I have no problem with that at all.
As it stands, I've had a lot of interest, and 1 person(I won't say whom, at the moment) offer $400 for the set. Given the number of interested parties, I think I will go with the "auction" route. Open it up for 1 week(to give me time to make the box(es)). I'll do it on here, because I would prefer one(or more) of you guys to get them. Yeah, I have a soft spot for my fellow collectors. Plus, I like Atari Age, and the users of it.
Here are the pics... so unless there is a better idea; I'll open up the bidding on Saturday 02-05-11(12:00 am Eastern Time), to run through Friday02-11-11(11:59 pm Eastern Time).
Remember, the Activision titles are double-sided, hence 2 pictures, showing each side.
Thank you!

I have some good news. My fiance' has been waiting for a disbursment so that we could afford a new digital camera. That came today, so we will be getting the camera tomorrow(unless something bad comes up)...I do have a Synvisc treatment to get on my knee, so I may be unable to walk(it's the second of 3 treatments, and honestly, hurts like a bitch). If at all possible, we will be getting the camera tomorrow, and I will be able to have pictures up either tomorrow evening, or at the latest, Thursday evening.
I have gotten all of your PMs, and I must say that I'm a little surprised at the level of interest in these. As I have said, I have no idea what they are worth, and I will let you guys see pictures before I sell any of them. I have been around here for a long time(even though I've not been very active for a while), and I value my reputation more than a "quick buck". I promise that I will not make any back-handed deals.
I have a vague interest in the Fast Load one actually. Not sure what it looks like though, if it's just the black and white one like most of the magazine ads, or something different. Will be watching for more info. If you're still going to send me a 64 or 2, maybe somehow they could be packed together (or not?).
Some things came up last minute, so I haven't had a chance to test the boards. I promise I will get to them within the next couple of days(I'm off work from Mid-day Wed until Friday, for the reason mentioned above).... and assuming you are the only one interested in the Fast Load one, I have no doubt they can be packed safely in the same box.
Something I noticed tonight, some(not all) of them are double sided. I should have all the information on them(pics included) tomorrow. Thank you all for the interest!
After typing all that, I had my soon-to-be step-son take come pics with his phone. Granted, these aren't the best quality, but they should give an idea of what I'm offering here:

I don't have pictures at the moment, but as soon as we get a new camera, I'll add some. I will also fill out conditions of the items. Basicly, I'm putting this out there with a beginning list, and short descriptions.
Back in the late 80's, I worked for Toys R Us. During my employ, I worked in their computer/video game section. Above the area, were large posterboard sized signs advertising different games and software titles. At some point, the store manager decided to throw them away. I salvaged them(with permission)... there were dozens when I first got them, but today, only 10 are still in my posession. I will measure them tomorrow, and edit this post with the additional information. The ones I still have are: Donkey Kong Jr.(Atari artwork), Epyx Fastload(Commodore 64 artwork), Gorf(CBS Software artwork), Smurf(Colecovision artwork), Summer Games II(Epyx artwork), Keystone Kapers(Activision artwork), River Raid(Activision artwork), Mouse Trap(Coleco artwork), Zaxxon(?? artwork), Pitfall(Activision artwork).
All of these were hung in the store, and show it. There is no major damage, though they aren't pristene, either. Approximate size is 2' wide, by 3' tall, and stiff cardboard(they can't be folded or rolled).
More stuff will be added later, so please check back.
Thanks.

If it could be done on NES then there is no good reason it could not have been done better on 7800.
I should hope so, the NES version sucked. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I bought the NES and that game, took it home grinning from ear to ear, and plugged it in to find out how crappy it was. I came very close to taking it back.
Much later, I was very satisfied with Gauntlet II for the Amiga. It was arcade perfect, up to the ability for 4 players(players 3&4 required a special adapter for the parallel port).

These are absolutely fantastic! I love how you altered the Atari-Age ones to look slightly different. Bonus points on that idea! Truth be told, I like the black spine, but I won't complain if you go with the dark gray.
-
Thanks for posting! Hopefully, they will still be available when I get my taxes back.

I had thought I had hidden all my original game boxes in the box that my Atari 2600 came in... but when I located that box, it was empty.
While looking for some stuff to pawn off(yeah, times are getting desperate).... I opened a closet in another room, and BINGO! There they were! Perfectly preserved and in a box along with some more modern game boxes.
Made my day!

I went to my local Hallmark store(the same one I bought 2 of each of the previous arcade ornaments), got sad-faced when informed there was no 2010 one. The manager I spoke to said that she would pass along my request, along with the other customers who had inquired. Let's hope we get one for this coming year.

I have a Lunar Lander cabinet. Needs a potentiometer for the throttle control, but is otherwise in great shape. I've had it for 26 years, and have used it sparingly since I got it. It was in a pool hall owned by my then best friend's parents. The place burned down, but only the front of the place was destroyed. This cabinet was in the back room. It does have a slightly smokey odor on the inside(I've cleaned it inside and out, but it retains traces of the smoke) but it's not evident on the outside of the cabinet. I posted pictures in another thread.... I'll see if I can find it and post a link to it for you.

I know I've replied with my interest already, but I do want to encourage others to think about the possibility that this package COULD be another step in making those games you want a reality. Curt can come up with all kinds of ideas he likes, but without Atari's approval, they will go nowhere. Products like these can and will show the higher ups that there still is demand for products, and money to be made there. Yes, it's a very limited market, and especially in a shitty economy.
Buy the set, and contact Atari asking for Tempest, or whatever other games we can get. $$$$ gets their attention.
