  1. I agree with Al - anything that is original I'd love to see but I'd also like to see variations on a theme too.... I love box art!!!!!!!!!
  2. @CPUWIZ - So are you going to repost some images of Video Life???
  3. Curious to know what Atari conventions occur in the UK. I know that there is a Lynx expo but are there any that are for general classic consoles etc.? Speaking personally, I am a 2600 fan & have only heard of a few Europe-wide. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Like several others, mine is of Christmas day, many, MANY years ago when my brother (Tony) & myself got an Atari that year. My Dad had just suffered his first heart attack (August time) & had been off work for months and cash was pretty tight. Despite all that, my folks got us an Atari (with free Combat) plus enough cash that we could both buy one cart each. I bought Frogger and my brother got Demons To Diamonds. All of the family joined in playing the Atari that year, very much 'Halcyon Days'.
  5. How feasible would a section dedicated to AA members artistic skills be? I admit that my own ventures into the realm of box/manual/cart art is pretty small (last year's 'Green' & this years 'Red' versions of Polo) but it would be good to see the efforts of others, amateurs & pros alike able to post their hard made efforts to a dedicated section. There is a good reason why I ask this, as after seeing some of the brilliant final production pieces of people like Dale Crum (Space Treat Deluxe, Swordfight, Sea Battle, Arcade series), Dave Exton (far too many to mention + new UA series) & Mike Mika (3D Rubik's Cube) as well as CPUWIZ's gorgeous rendition of a 'Video Life' box (and Grover cart labels), I think that it would be of great encouragement to more folks to display their artistic talents. Any thoughts about this?
  6. Any pix? Yeah - particulalry of any boxed games!!!!

    Combat II

Anyone happen to remember who manufactured the repros of this game? Many thanks for any help!
  8. I was wondering - is it just the outer cases that are needed for manufacturing carts? I know that EPROMs and PCB's are available so that only leaves the cartridge shell, right?
  9. I'm with you on this one Mendon. I really do like boxes to go with the carts and manuals but it is a very expensive process & from what I've gathered, most printers have a minimum number of units that they'll produce. This also means that the fewer boxes produced in any one run will bump the price up even further. Add to that if not all of the boxes are sold and the seller can wind up with a very expensive set of empty cartons! I also would like boxes to go with my copies of Space Treat Deluxe, Alligator People & the 'Arcade' series. Who knows, if there's enough demand for them & everyone is happy about a price....
  10. I had no idea you were planning a PAL version, this makes me happy!!!
  11. Climber 5 was one of the 'must see' titles for me, although it took BP to walk me through the first few levels @Dennis - Hurry up & finish it, will ya!?
  12. 3D Rubiks Cube is terrific but I think my personal vote goes to Swordfight. A real worry for Warlords to lose it's multi-player crown!
  13. Look out for a package coming you way soon guys!
  14. I'm a BIG fan of the 'classics' & my favourite of all is Activision Checkers. I agree, there are more variations etc. on Video Checkers but for a straightforward, tough to beat game I think Acti's title just pips Atari's game. Also, Video Checkers displays in a completely planar (2D) form, which I personally find a little less interesting. But mainly its the game play. BTW If you don't already have it, I'd give Bridge a try too - fine game!
  15. I'm still sorta' checking my purchases out. Thanks to Cassidy & Nicole who bought me an extra suitcase to carry stuff in (it really was packed to the gills!) I bought in total 81 carts for the 2600 (37 boxed) as well as some spare manuals and boxes. I still can barely believe that I spent $620 just during Friday evening! Oh well, Philly comes but once a year.
  16. I took a veritable plethora of photos (~70'ish) & I'll sort out any nice ones for the boards - quite a lot of these were of Virginia & other things to show the folks back home We call these "Walls"! @Chickybaby & z28 - Once again, thanks for the Flyers cap guys!

Best thing about PC4? Meeting everyone from Atari Age
  19. I've still got a few issues of C&VG from late '83 & early '84. This was a pretty good magazine that managed to cover a lot of different machines and did have some good reader's programs (yes, I did type out all of the 'Biorythms' program ) It should be still quite collectable, certainly the guy to ask in the UK about this sort of stuff would be Chris Hind, a very knowledgable Atari person based in Kent.
  20. There are a lot of versions of the Z80 emu, just try going through Google for Spectrum sites - most of them list Spec software & occasionally more than emu is listed. Last time I used one was one that came on a CD-ROM (+000's of games). Worked very well & cost me about £5. Hope that helps
  21. Hmm.... Spent today dredging the stores of Olde Portsmouth (2600 & Game Gear) & the results? 2600 Circus Atari (loose) for £5(!) A truly underwhelming experience
