  1. .... Results Update .... Some very good guesses by everyone. I don't think that by any stretch of the imagination it will take you guys too long to identify the last of the group.
  2. That would explain a few things, I was looking through atari 2600 stuff on ebay UK and some guy is selling a bunch of supposed 2600 carts - one of which is Space Panic. I'd never heard of it before & checked on the AA 2600 cart list but to no avail. I wonder if he has tried to check these games to make sure that they all work?
  3. .... Results update .... No further progress has been made, there are more hidden traps to Atari Mastermind than I realised. Clue: The prize titles are listed in the region of 3, 4 or 5 on the scarceity list All previous guesses cleared
  4. Definitely - I have a fair number of Internation ed/NTSC boxed Activision games, the early PAL boxes are smaller than the NTSC counterparts. I don't own any gatefold Atari games but would like too! UK seems to have a lot of red box/label games such as Crystal Castles, Basketball, Millipede etc. I love collecting the complete game/box/manual sets.
  5. Came across a game by CBS that I've never heard of before Space Panic, anyone know anything about this game?
  6. Morning all, I think that we can safely show the 'known' games 1. Picnic 2. Alien 3. 4. Mountain King Prizes: ? ? I think that perhaps Thomas has guessed something?
  7. I'd be very interested in this - getting started is always the hardest part
  8. .... Results update .... 3 correct answers with 3 in correct place A Light In The Black 3 correct answers with 2 in correct place Thomas Jentzsch Still no openings on the prize titles. I may have hidden some clues in my posts to the game identities
  9. @ Brian R - check out the Atarinvader site, there's over 200 reviews in the database and everyone is welcome to submit their own reviews. http://www.atarinvader.com/
  10. Sorry guys, I was moving house on Saturday and the problems have just kept on mounting since. I'm still waiting for the damn phone company to show up, hence no net access for me over the last few days. But yes, the compo is still very much still on Titles 3 & 4 remain to be guessed and both of the prize titles are more hidden than ever - we need some light through the door to identify these games!
  11. Mega Man Fan has a good point, here are the salient points known.... Mystery Carts: 1. Picnic 2. Alien 3. 4. Prize Titles: 1. 2. Everyone please guess again
  12. Update time: 2 correct answers, 2 correct places Trey 2 correct answers, 1 correct place A Light In The Black Thomas Jentzsch 1 correct answer, 1 correct place Mayhem UK smf 4ever Scot from SC Boneman I might start dropping some light hints soon for the prize titles to open things up a bit. Please feel free to guess again.
  13. To be quite honest, using modern stuff never even crossed my mind!
  14. Hi Scot, I would include any games but as a way of making this somewhat easier, I can tell you that none of the mystery titles or either of the two prize titles are modern games. As a just-in-case thing, only the four mystery games need to be placed in order, the prize titles are exempt from this.
  15. If you're really into the preservation thing, the metallic components can be 're-touched', using electroless metal plating. There are chemical kits on sale to the general public now for a couple hundered dollars, it sounds expensive but a single kit like this will be able to deposit good copper layers on thousands of carts. Most often I've seen nickel plating kits used by motorcycle enthusiasts but copper ones do exist too. I guess it would even be possible to protect them using silver/gold/platinum but that would be rather expensive, silver might not be too prohibitive in terms of cost and more robust to electrical damage than copper.

  21. Some very good guesses guys, but so far none have been identified. Everyone can try again.
  22. Hi All, Got another competition, the winner gets to pick one game from a choice of two (small choice I know) prizes and is open to everyone. Neither of the prizes are extremely rare, but still fairly uncommon. Rather like cvga's excellent mastermind compo, the aim is to identify four game titles in correct order and the name of the prize titles. Usual rules apply, anyone can have one guess & I will say how many are correct titles & if they're in place. After I have posted results, guessers may guess again. I will check the status once or twice a day for everyone's progress. 'Nuff said, good luck!
  23. Christmas 1980 and a free Combat and still the same console that I use today - when I get it fixed again that is. BTW - I like your website address Lumpbucket
  24. I dunno, I thought this was a great idea & novel to boot
