I had the most fun at that show, and I know Computer Space enjoyed all the attention she got. If you live in Philly, they are airing a show about the PC3 on May 17 at 10:30 on Fox network (whatever channel that is). I have about a 5 minute spot with CS on there. Cool to see it loved.

Got so many goodies, and yes, Osmeroid, I got you a signed Bugs. Sweet, eh?

You guys rock. Great fun this weekend. Still recovering.

You GEM!!!! I'm trying to wipe the smile off my face at the mo' (it isn't working!) Thanks Cassidy!!

I can't wait to go next year & meet you guys in person.

  2. My thanks, Uber! I've been wracking my (small) brain for days trying to remember that bloody game.

    I can now sleep well!

I'm pleased that you also think that it would make a good 2600 title.

  3. An old, old game for the Spectrum home computer. Basically it was flying a chopper between a base and the volcano. The object was to lower a rope from your craft, avoiding stuff from the volcano, and picking up people, then fly back to base before your fuel ran out.

It was a neat little game with lots of bright colours but quite blocky graphics by home computer standards. Should suit the ol' 2600 well.

  4. Hi Johnny,

I think Cassidy said that it will sell for around $40 (can't remember straight off).

The box does have the Ralph Lauren logo on the front - opposite the number of game variations. The logo does not appear on the manual.

  5. I know that this has been discussed before but how about some old home computer games converted to the 2600?

    Thomas's Thrust is a gem.

A small list of ideas from the old C64 & Spectrum archives....

    Jet Pac

    Atic Atac

    West Bank

    Moon Cresta

    Krakatoa (anyone remember this one!?)

    TLL/Cyclone

Shadowfire (I'm sure this one could be done)

    Trans-Am

    Cookie

There was also a little hand-held that involved moving around a maze, digging pits to capture unsuspecting aliens in, then burying them quickly. I can't remember what it was called but nice & simple for the 2600 to handle.

    Any other suggestions?

  6. Last night I was playing on my Atari and decided to spend some time on Defender. My old 6-switch is developing a rather poor contact on the power switch and sometimes causes some bizarre effects. This happened with Defender but was I really surprised when the game worked but I apparently had an infinite number of lives! Every level was the same as the first but the level counter did increment as normal, apart from starting at level zero. Nor did the city blocks appear – I could still use bombs and acquire them too. The repeating levels did become dull very quickly so I tweaked the power switch and got it working normally again. Oddly enough, I tried to mangle the game again and it did reproduce the same effect.

Has anyone else come across any strange & spooky happenings like this with their consoles?

  8. Could be Moycon. If it is genuine it will probably involve something like this....

The bottom quarter of the screen filled in green, the rest is pale blue, pick your team (England) vs anyone else. The screen does not alter for six hours (the manual suggests consuming beer and sandwiches). After six hours of nothing happening, the screen will flash the message *England lost* and the game ends.
