I haven't been there, but as an arranger of gaming events in general, "opening up" usually means either rent a bigger place (at higher costs) or plan for fewer vendors (which generates slightly less income). As a visitor, it is easy to see the shortcomings but often more difficult to consider the whole picture. This is not criticism to you personally, just a general knee-jerk reaction from my side as I've heard this type of argument several times.

Well, being packed in like sardines and unable to move isn't good either. I'm not kidding, it got to the point were people could barely move right before I left.
