*Sigh* It's Monday.

My boss joked in a team meeting about getting rid of a developer to pay for client's server upgrades. He didn't laugh. I got a bad feeling about 2022. ?

Are people nuts? I get that older TV's are getting rare....but $200-$300+ for a 13" crt tv because it's a "vintage gaming" tv? That's whack!

I just drank a bottle of sweet tea. Yes, I'll regret it when I can't sleep. It tasted pretty good though.

I had fun shoveling yesterday. There was 2 inches of slush with a 1/4 inch of ice on top.

Had a browse at Best Buy today for the first time in five years. It's become readily apparent that my interests have diverged from what's available at a mainstream consumer electronics store. They had mostly LED festooned gadgets that connect with smartphones and make your life "better" somehow by connecting to some random subscription service. No thanks.

I can recall being so excited when I first started to go to Best Buy as they had tons of DVDs, CDs, and were the first ones in my area to start carrying some new vinyl. Now they are going the way of Radio Shack and becoming a glorified phone store for the most part. Still some neat stuff, but the things I am looking for seem to be always out of stock.

Home today with a cold/flu bug. I was wondering if there is a Garfield strip where Garfield isn't feeling good?

I just found out a close friend and classmate of mine passed away from cancer overnight. He had come back home four months ago and at least we had a chance to reconnect before he passed.

I finally got a look at the front of our new high school yesterday and am not impressed. It looks like a mismatched stack of Lego blocks, going randomly from one to two to three stories. Also, the 1960 portion they left with the gymnasium, cafeteria, and library. (Two of those might be in the new part now) isn't even attached to the new building with an entry road between them now. Oddly, it also looks a bit smaller than the old school.

Sadly, I can't say too much more because it drops into the political realm like so much does now. Basically, there was a decade long fight to try and save the building, but in the end the school board and state refused to listen. Before the final vote that finally passed for the new school, state officials came in and told us point blank that there would be no support for renovating the school and no permission for any repairs. Either we accepted the new school or the old one would be allowed to basically collapse on the kids. Yeah, it got that dirty and barely 25% of the voters turned out for that last vote. Hope this doesn't get me in trouble, but it's the only way to explain things. Oh, the new school is barely a year old and already won an Architecture Award. Don't worry, change is already happening with most that forced the new school on us at local level already replaced.

The oldest portion of the original high school was from 1915. The later center and wing was from the 1930's and part of a WPA project. Sadly, like so many schools around here, they started to purposely allow the building to fall into disrepair about 25 years back with the first push for a new, state funded building. Oddly, even in the state it was, estimates put the cost of renovating and adding on to the old structure at half what the new one cost.

Just came home from Ollie's with one of those Giant Pacman Joystick deals from Arcade 1up. They are $59.99 there while supplies last and they are going quick!

Wow! That was underhanded. Fuck Paramount.

The next physical media which is going to skyrocket in price is movies. I'm starting to see it already. The last release of many of your favorite movies was likely 5-15 years ago now, with many great movies (new or old) never even making it to blu-ray.

It's been a little over two hours and the post game show for the Cleveland Browns is STILL going on. And people wonder why I hate pro sports with a special hate for football.

Ten cartoons I'd like to see re-animated:
10. Inspector Gadget
9. The Real Ghostbusters' first 78 episodes.
8. Anything Jay Ward and Bill Scott did in the '50s and '60s.
7. Johnny Quest
6. Earthworm Jim
5. Street Fighter
4. Most of the Fox and Crow cartoons.
3. Anything Paul J Smith did for Walter Lantz.
2. EXO Squad
1. Dungeons & Dragons

I am quickly learning to hate Windows 10. Now I remember why I resisted getting it for so long.

We really didn't want to upgrade from 7 here, but found out Verizon was shutting down our current Jetpack (Only way to get internet for us) and the new one would not work with Mom's computer as it had a slightly older wireless card. Also, the monitor on my HP laptop was getting flaky and for some reason the computer was suddenly like a furnace all the time. You could cook with the air coming out the cooling vents!

My Mom got a Covid19 test and it came back negative. She had been to a club to see a band and one her friends who was there tested positive a few days later, so my Mom had to get tested.

A friend of mine is waiting the results of his test. He found out his uncle had it right after returning home after it took two weeks for the notice to get to him from our health department. His uncle isn't doing well at all, but my friend arrived a day after the quarantine period and avoided contact. Really, it's his mom that is the worry as that is her brother and she saw him before it was detected.

Of all the things to inherit. A 55-gallon drum of Pistachio shells! Now what? Gotta be useful for something?
