That's beyond sad, man. If they were going to do that a game, it should have been After Burner Climax. No offense to that game, but there are enough around. I don't know how rare a cocktail Red Baron is, but I have a good imagination. I would be really mad if I saw something like that.

How much do Midway cocktail cabinets weigh?
ThunderFist replied to ThunderFist's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Thanks for that! I called NAVL this afternoon and they're supposed to call me back with a quote sometime. I'm keeping the actual machine a surprise until I get it, but I'll tell you right now that it's not a Bubbles. I said Midway, not Williams. -
I'm getting one soon, but may have made a big mistake. I looked at the sales flyer, which tells the dimensions for the game, but not the weight. I contacted a freighting company for a quote, and they quoted me $854.72! The game is only 13 hours and 1 minute away from my house, but since I couldn't tell them the exact weight of the game, just the dimensions, I told them that I thought the game weighed about 180 lbs. I've seen somewhere more recently, though, that it may only weigh about 100 lbs. Does anyone know what a standard Midway cabinet weighs? This one does have wheels on the bottom, and I have a feeling those weren't put on in the factory.

What were the hardest arcade coin-op games?
ThunderFist replied to ericwierson's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Star Castle was super tough back in the day! Gotta agree on that one as well as most of your list. Hearing people say Star Castle was tough makes me more proud now. Back in 1982, that was the first game I personally remember playing, and at the age of 4, I had to be help up to the control panel both to reach it and see the screen, and more than once, I was able to destroy that cannon at 4 years old. Too bad I was never able to do it more than once a game back then. -
Thanks for the info, Cassidy! I've decided to pass the game on to someone with a little more experience than I have, but I printed out this topic to give to the next owner so they'll know where to start. I'm getting another game soon, and will post a topic once I have it so all can see.

Unfortunately, I've decided to let it go, as I don't have the room for it. After checking the dimensions, I came to this decision, but I've scored an even better find, and by the end of the month, I should have it! I'll post it on the forum once I get it.

I found a machine of this that I'm interested in buying, but the seller said the sound doesn't work. He said everything else works fine, and I just wondered if anyone knows how hard the sound is to get going again.

Memories of where and when you first played/saw this game
ThunderFist replied to retrorussell's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I didn't get to play it, but I remember seeing one in the next town in a shop that was closed at the time. Later in 2003, I came across a Jr. Pac-Man dedicated machne that enough peeled away at the bottom to reveal that it had originally been a Mappy. -
I used to withhold my milk money at lunch at school, walk casually through the lunch line at work, and pop the quarter I was supposed to use to pay for the milk to play Mr. Do's Castle when I got to my mom's work after school. Those were the days!

Sorry to bump this up, but I would love to get some info on this game.

You live quite a piece from me. I've got someone lined up to help, though. I just need to hear back from the owner so I'll be sure that he will be expecting us.

Actually, I'm planning to get a used U-Haul van eventually. Unfortunately, I simply can't afford one at this time.

Now that I know is impossible, unless you remover your door. It just will not open wide enough Would something just under 2 feet wide not fit through the back door? I doubt it, I have a hell of a time trying to fit my bass drums in the back of the Taurus. I can do it but I really have to jam them in. I can't imagine the cocktail having that much give, plus it's larger than a bass drum. Longer also which would make it very difficult to angle. It would be tough, but it was my only option. The good news is that I just got an email from the script writer, and it looks like filming has been pushed back to next month. I know I can find someone over the weekend who can help with this! There are at least three people that I know for sure will do it if their schedules will allow it, and I'm willing to bet at least one of them will be able to. If you have a little extra cash and he doesn't live too far away Home Depot rents out pick up trucks for $20 per 75 minutes. You have to replace whatever gas you use but I have rented them in a pinch to pick something up. Hmm... that might be an option if none of them can do it. I've offered a $60 bounty on the game, and these three guys are all eager to cash in on it. I figured I'd make it worth their time and gas and whatnot - the game is located nearly an hour away.

Is putting it through the back door not an option either?
-
It's not the trunk I want to put it in. I was thinking more of putting it inside, from the passenger front side to the back.

I got offered a cocktail cabinet, but my options to transport it are limited due to commitments to being involved in a low budget movie locally. The one weekday I'm off is out because the owner of the game and his wife both work through the week, and I don't have a truck or van - all I have is a Taurus. I'm tempted to try picking up the game in the Taurus, since it seems to be my only option left at this point. According to the flyer on The Arcade Flyer Archive, its dimensions are as follows (measured in millimeters): 564(D) X 863(W) X 570 - 680(H) I did some conversion to inches, and I came up with 22(D) X 34(W) X 22-27(H). I fit a parking meter and a rather large base into my Taurus last year, and if it's possible that this game could be fit into it as well at those dimensions, I'll go pick it up myself. Most cocktail games I wouldn't try that with, but this one seems smaller than most - perhaps small enough that I won't need someone else's vehicle. Any thoughts?

Any clue what I need to do with that? I noticed that with the two wires, one is green with a black stripe, and the other is solid green. I'm positive that the solid green single wire, which is located next to the coin counter, I discovered, needs to be reconnected to the solid green wire of those two wires I was holding in the pic. Is it possible that the wire with black striping may need to be reconnected to that black wire? If not, I have yet to find any other wire it could have been cut from. Oh, and here is the video on Youtube that shows the game in some more detail. You can see the monitor issue in this video... or not. You'll see what I mean.

what do u guys think of this deal
ThunderFist replied to classicgamer24's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm answering this WAY late, I know. But I found that in 2004 at, of all places, a laundromat. At the time they were having an indoor flea market of sorts, and that was one of the items they had, the only item that really interested me. -
Five years ago, I joined this forum to get some help with a 4 player Pong clone called Flim Flam. I was told I would need to send some pics of the wires that were cut. See, when I first bought this game, it had a note on it saying that it worked, but that it needed wires reattached to the service board. Well, when I inspected the inside, I found a double wire that was cut along with what looks like two single wires - one that goes from the coin door and one that's deeper in, possibly to the board - and I believe that the wires may just need to be reattached somehow. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! I'll also have a Youtube video up shortly showing the game in more detail and discussing the other issues. It looks like it will need a LOT of work, but hopefully someone out there can guide me in the right direction. The first pic will be the two wires that I mentioned at first, then the single wire by the coin door, and the other wire deeper inside the cabinet.

I got a heavy sixer of my own today for only $40, but the label with the serial number is gone. I assume it would be affixed to the bottom. There's a 401 on the bottom, but that's all the identifier I can find.

I have one question regarding the Vs. cabinets. I'm planning to get one and put Vs. Super Mario Bros. in it, but may in the future wish to add Hogan's Alley or Duck Hunt, so I'd like to get one with the light gun already attached. I just wondered if a game like Super Mario Bros. would work properly in a machine that has a light gun.

Dedicated systems don't count? In that case, just the 2600, 5200, and 7800 reside in my domain. I also have a Pong unit and the pinball system, though.
