The one thing that bugged me about the Ms. Pacman I have (which I assume is the first version) is that you can't select "fast" mode. For me, Ms. Pacman is only worth playing when you can zip around the levels faster than the ghosts. Otherwise, it gets boring quick. Do the newer versions allow you to do that?
