  1. All my Absolute or Salu games came from Germany or Australia.

I just need PAL Baseball and F14 Tomcat for a 'complete' PAL collection. I could have bought them from Telegames UK for £39 each, but where's the fun in that? :) I have a few Salu AND HES (cardboard & Clamshell) releases like Super Skateboardin' but really I'm just happy with one or the other.

I have a spare HES Kung Fu Master & Double Dragon for trade. In an ideal world I'd like to trade them for the two I need :)

I got my Dark Chambers from Belgium because I never saw any appear in the UK. Seen a few since then though. Also Donkey Kong came from Belgium and Centipede from Australia. In my experience these titles weren't as widely distributed in the UK compared to most other Atari 7800 titles.

  2. Hey, looks like we're in a similar boat! :)

I have spare F18 and Kung Fu Master (Australian HES clamshell).

I need F14 and Baseball to complete my PAL collection.

Do you have any boxed PAL 7800 stuff for trade? Could be interested in some box variations.

  3. Great pictures! Thanks Dieter and Iwan. Gutted I couldn't make what looks like it was a fantastic event. The T-Shirts look awesome! Any chance of ordering one or maybe sending the GFX so I can get an extra long one printed? ;) Hopefully I would qualify for one based on past attendance :)

Hopefully see you in Manchester :-)

  4. What's the latest that your thinking on shipping them. I'm going to be moving in a month or so well Nov 1st. Should I PM you my parents address in case it takes a few more weeks to ship. no rush but I hate to drive to my old place everyday to catch the mailman! lol

I'm hoping to get them all in the post tomorrow. I currently have a large pile of carts packed, addressed and ready for the customs form. They should be with everybody within 2 weeks. Expect PMs tomorrow (including tracking info for those who requested it).

Excellent. Cheers for the update. Being in the UK, should have mine by the end of the week! :)

  5. I need some more information, as quickly as possible please :)

Flights at the moment are coming in at around £150 return via Zurich into Vienna.

Ryanair offer flights to Bratislava but by the time you factor in the cost and hassle of transfer and the fact it's Ryanair then I don't fancy that! :)

I'd have to travel down to Heathrow to get direct flights to Vienna, and so that would add on costs and lots of time. Swiss are offering good prices from Birmingham at the moment via Zurich as I mention. This seems the best for me.

But I won't book until I have some more concrete details about hotels, location in Vienna, cost for Eurocon etc.

And the price for the flights rises all the time!

    Cheers

    Steve

  6. Good work Goldenax! Let's see the pics!

    Hi G.A.

If you would collect different Pal boxes too, there are some different boxes from the US version.

    Like Kung Fu Master,Double Dragon,F 14 Tomcat,F 18 Hornet,Super Skate boarding,Baseball,

Title Match. And certainly, there are some hacks and homebrews too, which can be collected.

    greetings Walter

I need three PAL. I've just posted a trade msg in the marketplace, as I have some spare HES. If anyone can help! :)

    Cheers, Jobf

  7. I have spare (all PAL Atari 7800)

    HES Double Dragon (Australian Clam-Shell)

HES Kung Fu Master (Australian Clam-Shell)

    Super Skateboardin' (European cardboard box)

I'm looking to trade for any of the PAL 7800 titles I'm still missing:

    F14 Tomcat

    Baseball (not RS Baseball)

    Titlematch Pro Wrestling

Would prefer Australian Clam Shell, but might be interested in Euro-cardboard.

I know this is quite a specific trade, but maybe a 7800 collector has some dupes like me! :)

Would also be willing to pay for the titles I'm looking for if you aren't after 7800 stuff, or I might have some other things you are interested in. (Let me know your interests).

    Thanks!

    Jobf.

  8. I suspect it is actually NTSC though.

    Mitch

Well, it came today, and yep it is NTSC! :(

It works on my PAL machine, but it is clearly NTSC. It works great in my NTSC machine!

I didn't have the cart anyway, so no great loss (though am not looking to collect NTSC releases), I'll hold onto it.

I picked up a sealed PAL Super Skateboarding (cardboard box version) from them also for $9.99, so that made the expensive shipping more bearable.

    Cheers,

    Jobf.

  9. Hey,

I noticed that this seller has what he is calling a PAL Realsports Baseball:

    http://tinyurl.com/6j3dz2

He does have lots of other PAL titles also.

There seems to be some mystery regarding whether there was a PAL release of this or not. Doing a search on Atariage forums, there is mention of a PAL RS Baseball in this 2001 thread:

    http://tinyurl.com/6jyjc4

Anyone got anything to add? I need to pick this up pronto if it is PAL! :)

    Cheers!

  10. Maybe this answers the question of why PAL Pengo is so rare...

Maybe Atari only distributed copies to rental stores, not retail outlets?

    This would explain:

    a) Why it's so rare (a lot less rental stores)

    b) Why there's no box (the rental stores would probably use a card inlay and recycle the rental box)

It's possible Atari did a short production run (it was 1986 after all) and cancelled the release after sending out the rental copies which it may have been contracted to do.

Just supposition, but there must be some reason why PAL Pengo is so rare.

Chris Hind, a UK 2600 collector, bought most of his carts at the time, back in the day. He remembers seeing PAL Pengo for sale at Silica shop in London. He didn't have enough cash, and bought some other games. Next time he went back, they were out of stock never to have any again.

No idea about the box. I should contact him again to see if he remembers any other details.

  11. I would get a video mod from 8bit domain (thats what I did) then the 7800 is compatible with all of the 7800 games, there are a few that the PAL system cant play either at all or some problems. Also the colours on the games are "correct" on the NTSC 7800, some colours are way off on a PAL system.

I have got PAL, SECAM and NTSC 7800s. I use the NTSC one all the time, and the others when people ask for compatibility testing on homebrews/hacks.

Thanks a lot for that tip! That kit seems to be well worth the money.

BTW, you being in the UK, can you verify that bad audio (noisy humming, no "real" audio audible) is to be expected when running an NTSC 7800 on a PAL TV set?

    Peran.

Yes, that is what I get with an NTSC 7800 connected to a PAL TV via RF. (i.e. black and white picture and a hum)

I had my NTSC 7800 modded for composite and audio out - then it will work with any PAL TV that is stated as being 'NTSC compatible'

NTSC via RF on a PAL TV is a whole different thing - you would need a NTSC tuner in your TV for a NTSC 7800 to work. You can get these (multistandard TVs), but you are better off getting your 7800 modded.

  12. Just received this email! See you there! :-)
